He would go into businesses in the Floral Park, Long Island, area just across the boundary from Queens, and put up signs that read, "Tow Away Zone" without the property owners' knowledge. He would then tow cars one by one in the tow zone he himself had invented, police said. play Police: Unlicensed Tow Truck Driver Put Up Own Signs, Towed Cars WCBS 880's Sophia Hall Reports Floral Park police Sgt. Ronald Gagliano told WCBS 880 Capurso did not have a license to run his business, Bumble Bee Towing. He also never had permission from the owners to tow the cars from their property. "And then when the unsuspecting car owners would come and look for their cars, they would see the signs and call up and he would demand cash only no checks or credit cards -- never knowing the signs were illegal," Gagliano said. The sergeant said Capurso would charge $200 for the owners to get their vehicles back. As of Saturday, there were seven victims. But Gagliano said there could be more. The signs were placed at a dry cleaning business, a church, and a gym.

very shady operation!!!! it does not say anywhere on your website about extorting money from hard…read moreworking people who have a used car for sale in a parking lot. i parked my car in east meadow where there were no signs that it would be towed. he just placed a sign in the lot that night!!! at 2 o clock in the morning my wife received a call to move the car or it would be towed. we jumped out of bed and went right over to location which was around the corner from my house. the shady tow truck operator already had it up in the air across the street!!! he then extorted 80.00 to let it down so we can take it home. when i said i was calling the cops he said do not worry i will call and get them here. he then pretended to call. this was part of the scam. i just said to drop my car because it was late and i had to get up for real work the next day!!! well here is the icing on the cake......the next day the sign was no longer there!!!!! and i then called the manager for the property and he stated that they did not hire a towing operation for their lot!!! i looked up bumble bee towing and called them as i was fuming mad!! they turned around and said that i probably took down the sign and that the manager who makes four dollars and hour has no idea what he is talking about!!!! i am a 20 year retired nypd veteran who worked down at the world trade center with a lot of real good men!!!! iprides himself as a person with honor and integrity!! if you read this do not patronize this towing service!!! give them a call at 516 519-1349 and let them know how you feel about this scam they are running!! when they are slow and need to make money.....this is how they really operate!! i will be going to my local precinct to file a complaint!! i will not let this rest until i get the money they extorted from me back!!! you advertise as a local family business........you should be ashamed of yourself!! i will post this every day!!!! shame on you!!!!
