Dave recently solved a nagging but known problem with my son's '15 Infiniti Q40. The car would take on water every time there was a steady rain. My son had taken his car to several mechanics but the problem was never resolved. Apparently the leak was a known problem with Infiniti's sunroof drain system. The outlet would easily get clogged by dirt and falling debris. Rather than simply blowing out the dirt and debris with a water or air hose like the other mechanics my son used, Dave was the only one who thought outside the box and re-ran the sunroof drain lines from both sides of the sun roof and connected the two hoses into one using a T valve and running the one single drainage hose out the car via the AC outlet. Happy to report that it's been 6 or 7 months now and the car which is parked uncovered in my driveway full-time, is now bone dry even after some very heaviest days of rain.

In my case, I selected Don Joe's after evaluation of various online reviews and due in part to its "preferred" status by Geico Insurance (the other party's insurance company) as a Tesla approved autobody shop. My primary interaction and communication regarding the repair of my vehicle from the beginning to the end of the entire process was with Victor, a gentleman whose experience and knowledge of Tesla vehicles becomes almost immediately apparent. During the initial walkaround of my model Y to inspect the superficial damage, he assured me that he would thoroughly inspect the underlying body and mechanical components. Based on our conversation, I can tell you that Victor has a passion for Tesla vehicles and appreciates the technological nuances of the vehicle. Throughout our dealings, he was straightforward, respectful, courteous, and kept me apprised of every important step in the process. He worked directly with the Geico insurance adjuster to arrive at an estimate and proceed with the repair of my Model Y. In my situation, the repair took approximately one week given the need to order parts directly from Tesla; however, my Model Y was better than brand-new at the end of the process. Graciously, Victor and his crew even installed my Tesla Roof Rack cross bars which were sitting in the back-cargo area of my model Y after recently arriving in the mail! Around Feb of 2020, my vehicle was involved in an accident on Old Country Road in Westbury. The…read morepolice responded to the scene, prepared a report, and arranged for a tow truck. The tow truck was from Bodyworks Unlimited. A short time later, I went to Bodyworks Unlimited to see my vehicle and assess the damage, as I had not seen it since the accident. I did not have comprehensive insurance, and after reviewing the repair estimate, I decided I was not willing or able to pay for the repairs out of pocket at that time. While I was in the office, the gentleman working there gave me permission to remove my vehicle from the shop and handed me the keys. After receiving the keys, I contacted AAA to arrange a tow to bring my vehicle back to my storage location. Approximately two days later, I received a phone call from Bodyworks Unlimited stating that I owed them money for the tow. This was confusing to me, as there was no mention of any towing fee or payment owed when I was in the office. A few days later, the tow truck driver went to the location where my vehicle was being stored at the time, which was a property I had rented solely for storage purposes and did not reside at. He spoke with someone present in an attempt to collect $285 for the tow; however, I was not there at the time. Several days after that, while I was at work, two men entered the property and went into the backyard area where I was in the process of disassembling my vehicle and had various damaged parts laid out. They then contacted me by phone, stated that there was still an outstanding balance, and claimed they had taken something from my vehicle that would render it inoperable. At the time, I did not understand what they meant. However, after reviewing the security camera footage and checking the parts at the yard, I realized they had taken two of my stock turbochargers, apparently as collateral. They were unaware that both turbos were already blown and unusable, so they had no value to me. Based on this experience, I strongly suggest staying away from this business. If they were willing to do something like this, it raises serious concerns about what else they might be willing to do.
