Went here for a nice Wednesday evening and imagine my shock, when I find out they are doing MUSIC BINGO! For FREE! That is one great deal. Didn't expect it but they had extremely good pizza! My friend had a pretzel she said it was flawless! The service was over the top good. The bartenders are very good at their jobs and lastly, my friend won music bingo! We came here on a Tuesday night. I didn't realize that they serve pizza, but I had already eaten and didn't have an opportunity to have any... but trust, it looks good! Grains & Taps has several options to choose from. They even have a couple other local beers on tap if those don't suit you. I asked for samples of a couple hazy IPAs and our beertender (Alex) was happy to oblige. Service was good and my sampling led me to the right hazy IPAs to buy. There are several good beers here but I didn't have near the amount of time to try everything I wanted. I would definitely come back here. read more

This place is chill, bright, clean, and has an awesome beer selection. International taps with some great regional taps as well! We got a pretzel with beer cheese (the cheese tasted a little like soap, but the pretzel was good.) The service was friendly, and for a Sunday Funday, this is a perfect spot. read more

I have only been here once. Stopped in here with a buddy before going elsewhere. Saw the overly huge list of beers and asked for something similar to a porter... I was given a black IPA. Which, for those of you not beer drinkers, is absolutely nothing like a porter. At the speed that the waitress was going (mostly due to lack of help) It was several minutes before I could even send the beer back. Ended up with a plain ol lager as it was apparent that the place typically sells IPA's, pilsners, and lagers. My buddy ordered the soft pretzel... it seemed ok... but nothing special. That said there is a lot more too this place and I may stop in again and try more things. I am sure that others have had a much better experience than me. I hope they are also sharing so that this balances out... at least till I get to try the place again and edit my review. read more

Great little brewery in downtown lees summit. Tried a flight and my friend got a flight also. So we sampled 8 beers total. All brewed bbt grain and taps. Have to say they were alll tasty. The names oof the beeera were very entertaining. My overall favorite was the neon kittens IPA. Had a great bitter hoppy nose on it. Didn't order a pizza this round but did see them come out and will be ordering one in the future. Will return hope you enjoy our it also. read more

Came here a couple weeks ago on a Friday night. It was not overly populated. We grabbed a table by ourselves. When I went over to the bar, I spoke to a person named Brian. Found out he was the owner. He told me that they offer many latest craft beers on tap and that they sell home brewing supplies as well. I tried the sump and hopslam since I knew they are limited releases. Very tasty. Friend did not drink beer so we asked Brian if he could surprise us with a mixed drink. He took the time to find out what she likes and her flavor profiles. Hes not a bartender, but he made an apple martini that was solid. We ordered another one and it was a little sweeter, but still decent. Got pretzels too and they were good. Melt in your mouth soft and the beer cheese was tasty. Brian told us they make a different one each time w different beer. I asked him about home brewing, and he actually took us to the back for basically a VIP tour. It was awesome. Grains and tap is extremely knowledgeable and they have a passion for beer and homebrew. He spent a lot of time answering all my questions which I really appreciated. Overall, beer was great and they had the latest on tap with different sizes which was nice. I bought 2 small beers, 2 martinis, and a pretzel. With tip, it was slightly under $30. Not too shabby with the quality and high service I received! read more

Pretty awesome craft beer bar! The overall feel and décor of this place is perfect. Not dark and dreary or the typical over done industrial vibe. Its more of a modern and clean bar with subway tiles and large TVs showing the current beers on tap. The beertenders were super knowledgeable about what they were serving which is a huge plus! Also they have a happy hour with $2 off full pours, extremely good deal. For the homebrewers they have a small supply shop that seemed well stocked with grains, hops and yeast. Only problem is it is not in my neck of the woods but has me considering that I should move to Lee's Summit. :) read more

Recently relocated, the new place is a beer nerd mecca. Plenty of craft beers on tap and just about anything else you'd like to drink. (plus that whole home brew section, but honestly, I will just partake in the finished product). One qualm. They don't offer 5 oz pours unless you get a whole flight. As someone who likes to get as many tastes when presented with a glorious spread of choices, I am not prepared to order 5 right in one shot. One at a time is nice. The first craft brew bar that I've been to that does not offer it this way. Ill be back for sure, hope to see this change though. read more

I like the simplistic idea of pizzas, but I don't think the product quality matches that purist mentality just yet. I have enjoyed all of their own brews, as well as many of the guests. They don't have any brewed beers of their own, but they do carry LOTS of the local breweries in the KC area. Also, their pizza looked good! Both a great LHBS and a great craft beer bar. It's always great to come in and have a beer and a chat while grabbing ingredients for your next brew. The staff is always exceptionally friendly and very knowledgeable, and their selection of homebrew ingredients is very impressive. They do a yeast pre-order, so you can get the yeast you want from white labs both a little cheaper and very helpful for expanding availability of rare strains. I've been to almost every LHBS in the metro and they're my first choice. They're pretty high up there on craft beer bars as well due to the very friendly staff and good selection. I'm looking forward to their upcoming expansion with even more beers on tap. read more

The atmosphere is fun. You can enjoy a beer from a small but carefully selected variety of local and up and coming brewing companies. The seating area is intimate as you are amongst racks and shelves of brewing supplies which aims to be it's mainstay. Some may not care for that, but a true lover of beer and the art of creating beer should feel right at home. While there is no food available, the proprietor has never had a problem with anyone bringing something in as long as it won't create a mess. If you love beer of any kind, you should at least check it out. Who knows, you might even end up taking a kit home and start making it yourself. read more
