The bartender, Nicole, is my new favorite human. She was so sweet and on top of it, running the entire bar by herself. We had the caramel cream ale, which is in my top 5 beers of all time. Perfectly sweet and light. The peach tee kolsch was good too- a nice balance of peach. The cherry limeade wheat was right on the edge of sour. It was good that it was served in a smaller glass so we didn't do too much of it. We also did a shot of the stonebreaker cinnamon whiskey, which was a really nice collab between fringe and another local distillery. Super smooth with an oaky flavor on the background. Absolutely love the dark carnival decor, especially the pinball machines, the giant skeleton and the patio with a garage door interior. Highly highly recommend on every level. What an amazing brewer in the KC suburb of Lee's Summit. First off the art work is eclectic and many pieces pay homage to the beers on tap. There is a story for much of the art work which I will not do a disservice by trying put it in a review. Go there, see it and ask they'll gladly share the story. Second, INCREDIBLE beers are on tap. I tasted 10 during my visit and every single beer was worth trying. My faves were: Freshly Squeezed Blueberry Lemonade Wheat, Apple Pie Milkshake IPA and Calliope Caramel Cream Ale. Finally, the most important part of the operation is the people. Every single person that was present made me feel welcome and like I was already a part of their community. WOW, I was left feeling like I'd made new friends which I know I did. I travel to KC at least once per year and every year I will return to support this awesome brewery. Randomly walked in to Fringe beerworks the other day and was very happy we did. The bartender was very friendly. He explained that the art on the walls was done by somebody local. Everything was super creative and fun definitely carnival vibes and I was obsessed. In the back they have pinball machines and other games you can play as well as a small patio. They also offer a board game shelf which I absolutely love board games so I appreciate it very much. We don't live around Lees summit but we will be back to visit. read more

Fun house vibe with great brews and pinball! Walked in on a whim and expecting this to be a tiny micro brewery and was pleasantly surprised to find a back room with pinball, board games and a patio! The brew tender was a great guy and had great recommendations. I tried the blueberry lemonade and the cherry limeade beer. Both were delicious! I especially loved the artwork all around. It tied together the fun house theme and was fun to look at. I played the jaws pinball and had a blast. I will be coming back again soon to try some more brews and set some high scores. read more

I headed to Fringe Beerworks to hang out with a friend. Turns out, it's pretty awesome! Great beer - I had a stout and IPA, and both met-and maybe exceeded-my standards. The server was also very friendly. The cozy neighborhood bar vibe creates the perfect ambiance to enjoy your pints...and if you're thinking about braving the great outdoors, there is a nice outdoor seating area. We avoided that because of the scorching heat this time of year (July). Street parking is plentiful, and their location in Lee's Summit's downtown adds to the cool factor. They might have their own lot, but I didn't check since it was easy to find a spot on the street. They have both in-person and online menus, which is pretty convenient - you can peruse the beer list before you go, which I especially appreciate. Another cool thing - Fringe Beerworks spices things up with events like Game Night, which they were having the night we were there, although we didn't attend. So yeah, great brews, friendly vibes, easy parking, and a downtown location - loved it! read more

A small independent brewery that's been on our radar for a while. Just a note that they do not serve any solid food. Very fun colorful retro themed decor only enhances their cool little space. And if you love the dark stuff, their menu is sure to please. So many different stouts to choose from. I had Madam X, the coffee stout which was on nitro. It always makes it better imo. My companion had a flight of 5 stouts, all of which were smooth and tasty. Never heard of a white stout before and it reminded me of an ipa without the usual ipa pucker; very cool. The rum barrel aged unicorn imperial stout was amazing at 16% abv, but if you mix that with the barrel aged puppy chow imperial stout (which tastes like a cookie biscuit), you end up with a complex long finish drink that retains all the best stuff. The flavors don't clash but rather express themselves one layer at a time. A happy accident that we will definitely ask for next time. Give it a shot! read more

This place is pretty cool. The design of the brewery is great, think circus mixed with craft beer, can you go wrong? My favorite beer was the Madam X with coffee. Russian Dancing Beer is my go to at Fringe, it's a Stout Russian Imperial with a 10.5 ABV. Every time you step into Fringe you feel like you've home. Communal seating plus 4/5 spots at the bar. My daughter is partial to the Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit beer, an original and local favorite. This is a great place to hook up with friends to start you night off or for an after dinner drink. Make sure to follow them on Instagram, they are one of the more active breweries with activities, tap takeovers and game nights. A must try! They also have wine. read more

Small little brewery in downtown Lees Summit and have been meaning to try it for awhile. Finally had the change to stop in and try a few of their home brews. It has been some time since I visited so I can't remember the names of the beers exactly but I'm going to give it my best shot - side note I just looked up the menu, thank goodness for google. For the record, I liked everything I had. Got the 4oz pour for each so I could taste a few! Grapefruit Wheat, Something Pineapple - don't think it was officially on their menu but I am guessing it will be (or should be!), Doc Myer's Snake Oil (this one was REALLY good), a black IPA so if you are shy about hops, don't do it. Pumpkin Pie Wheat - no I'm not basic and no it wasn't overwhelmingly pumpkin, it was quite good. And last but not least Madam X, it has coffee in it! All worth a taste! read more

I am a few months late of this review (Sorry). I always visit local breweries when in town so I was excited to try a new one. Beer was good but one of the owners told me I probably didn't know much about black IPAs when I asked if they had one which theirs was mediocre. I told him I love black IPAs so he asked me to name some I've had and he had only heard of two. When I stated I just had one from another local brewery he started ripping on them then confessed he had never been there when I asked how long it had been since he went there last. He later came and apologized to me about the earlier interaction (probably heard me bitching about his attitude to my friends) but damage done. Small breweries should stick together and not trash one another to customers. I would like to go back to try beer but bad taste is already in my mouth from the bad customer experience. read more

Really enjoyed our visit here. It was actually a second visit- we popped in earlier this fall to try the GI bourbon county stout and promised we would come back to check out more of their brews when we had time. Being home brewers we geeked out over the chance to see their equipment and process with Eddie one of the owners. He was kind enough to show us his new switch board, the current set up through fermentation and their cooler. Personal favorite was this unique "imperial style wheat" a high abv very drinkable wheat. Hubby loved the butter and our friends enjoyed the coffee (stout i believe) we live in Joco but when we venture to the Missouri side we will be sure to come back. read more

In fact i think they might qualify as a nanobrewery, but nonetheless they make a great product and have other good beers on tap as well. I look forward to visiting next time I'm in town. read more

The place is small but packs a lot of character which I really enjoyed. This was my first time here and I was very pleased with the beers on tap, either brewed in house or guest taps. There's something on tap for every beer drinker or for those few wine drinkers that want to be involved when at a brewery. We weren't there during a peak time so it was nice to take in the decor, environment, and be able to ask questions about the different beers with the beertender. As a person who is still learning the craft beer scene, it can be a little intimidating and overwhelming at times to figure it all out. Roe made me feel at home and after learning (and remembering my name the entire night), she was so helpful! Fringe has some OK beers, but I haven't ever tried anything there that is beerlicious. It has a cool vibe to it, but really small inside and I always have felt out of place, as if everyone else there is a regular and I'm not. They had a grapefruit wheat that was OK, but I wouldn't get again, and a black IPA that I didn't really care for. I'd love to see them amp up their beer quality to compete with some of the other Lee's Summit microbreweries. read more
