I don't get out to Lees Summit too often but I like to try to stop at The Goat to see what's new and on tap. They have a good sized taproom with bar and table seating. They do offer food and have non alcoholic options. I didn't try the food because I literally ate right before coming here but I definitely want to try it on a return trip. They are dog friendly and I was thrilled to see and get to pet a big puppy who was there being a very good girl. The bartenders have all been super nice. They have a lot of beer. Over 10. I know because we ordered two flights which consisted of five tasters each and we still didn't try everything. But I did enjoy what we did get. They had a really good smoked porter that would pair perfectly with some bbq. And they also had a blackberry lemonade seltzer that was refreshing and perfect for this summer heat wave. This was my first time there since I don't make it out that way often. They have a good selection of beers and cocktails. They also have a good amount of "limited" menu items to eat (loaded fries, pretzels, hotdogs...) They were going to have karaoke that night but I didn't stay that late. They also had a paint/support fundraiser with the KC Zoo going on. I ordered a flight of 5 different beers with were all good with individual flavors and tastes. We decided to check this place out on a Friday night. Location is in a shopping stripe. Small and quaint; just like your neighborhood bar. Some outdoor seating with outdoor game. Inside nice and clean. Full bar. They make all their beers right there in that building. Karaoke on Friday night. Live music on Saturday. Prompt service. Bartender very nice. We just had a drink there. If you like old fashioned, it's pretty good there. I had their espresso martini. It was also pretty good. We did not try any of the beers. Excellent restaurant with a great vibe and excellent, kind bartenders (Carrie and Cooper). Stopped here after lackluster visit to Diametric Brewery and the difference is astounding. Much better vibe in restaurant area with the tanks nearby. Bar was very nice. The beers were excellent without exception. Definitely worth the visit. I can't comment on the food because we did not eat. The menu for brunch was pretty small, but I think the goal is to be able to offer something to go with the excellent beer. What a beguiling discovery. A wide open space with plenty of rustic charm, outdoor seating, a ponderous selection of house brewed beer, and a small food menu; The Goat is the perfect neighborhood tavern. The beers we tried were delectable, So good, in fact, I suspect there may be some dark arts involved in the brewing process. Thus, the goat appellation. Of special note is the Wee Heavy, a Scottish ale. After a couple pints of those my friend stood on our table and bellowed to the other patrons, 'are there no true Scotsmen in the house!!' I don't know what all that was about but I do know that we'll be back to The Goat very soon. read more

Very friendly service and they were helpful with recommendations. I had a flight and personally wasn't a big fan of the kolsch but everything else I tried was fantastic. We had come here for the kc tap tour deal and I'm glad we did! They didn't seem busy at all but it was on a Wednesday after all. To my surprise The Goat does serve German like food options that include Po'boy sandwiches, brats and even funky bar snacks. The beer we tried was delicious, I ordered a sour ale with blueberry and lime. For a 16oz that only ran me $7 and with the tap tour deal we had a coupon for buy one get one. They have all sorts of fun beer combinations, one beer had Chile and Serrano peppers added in! It's a bit of a drive for us but I will be visiting again in the future. read more

Eat before you come, the food is not good but they don't have a kitchen so it makes sense. The beer/drinks are amazing. I had the caramel cinnamon cider and I wish so badly that they canned them. My mom loved the stouts. It was cool to see that for some beers it's poured directly out of their huge kegs(?). Service was mixed, one guy was amazing and great to talk to; the other guy was a little bit rude in my opinion. Might be the best beer in Lees Summit. read more

Great local brewery. Super friendly. Extensive selection of ales, IPAs, stouts, sours, seltzers and even cocktails!! Stylishly decorated. Very hospitable to fur babies- gave my pup a bowl of water and even a dog treat that my very fussy dog was thrilled to eat. Bonus points for the MOSCA (metropolitan organization to counter sexual assault) informational cards in the restrooms they have fun events, like music, bingo, and paint and sip. Edit: dropping a star for being ignored by bar staff for long periods of time. Plus, their toilet in the women's restroom was gross. But they had free tampons... so bathroom is 7/10. read more

We were looking for a brewery to decompress after a rough Thanksgiving, and were so glad we got to stop in at The Goat! The owners were very sweet and talked to us about their Thanksgiving with their kids, while their dog sauntered around to say hi to everyone who walked through the door. Loved the mobster and KC history that the bar is named for, and discussing some of the finer points of what was going on during Prohibition. The decor is super cute, with a mix of bar seats, tables, and even some couches and chairs if you want to get comfortable. They run educator discounts at 20% every Thursday with teacher ids, which I really appreciated. All the beers were super drinkable and tasty. They have lots of fun events but are good just to drop in too. Highly highly recommend. read more

Fun atmosphere with trivia this evening. Very reasonably priced flights, single pours, and growlers. They even let people bring in outside food although they offer a few snacks, including hot dogs and soft pretzels. Worth a visit! Loved the Ell Bee enough to snag a crowler, and overall their beers are tasty! read more

This is a fairly new brewery to the Lees Summit area. A small group of us stopped in Saturday evening as we were sampling beers in Lee Summit. It's a great facility with bar seating as well as ample table seating. One thing that was nice is that they offer mixed drinks in addition to a variety of their beers and others. This is not always the case at breweries and it's a welcome option for several in our group. As with most breweries food is not really an offering. We ordered pizza and had it delivered which worked just fine for the group. However, I will say that they do offer hotdogs from a hotdog roller but that was not on the list for anyone in our group. Overall, I really liked the layout of this establishment which makes it perfect for groups to be able to come in and have a beer and have some fun and laughter. If you and your friends are looking to put together a mini pub crawl Lees Summit has quite an offering and this would be the perfect spot to start your crawl. read more

We have tried this brewery a few times and each time we have tried different beers. They had a salsa beer once and it was not bad. They do fun events such as trivia night and paint night. We will definitely go back. The storyline regarding the name is super cool for a local based brewery. They also featured some very old a cool art from Kansas City on there walls. read more
