They just pulled a Benedict Arnold on the Eggs Benedict. I think somebody needs to read a cooking manual to realize that you don't make Eggs Benedict with fried eggs. Also, the eggs should never be poached rock hard. Finally, the hollandaise sauce is a problem. I know there are powdered mixes that taste pretty good. I can live with that. This however, was just some kind of plastic sauce that was very hard to describe. The dish was served on a bed of shredded hashbrowns, which turned out to be the best part. I've had eggs Benedict where the hollandaise was slightly broken, or the eggs were poached a bit too firm, but this was just a mess. Food and staff are a hit and miss. Sometimes the food is great and sometimes it is seriously lacking Just the fries sucked. Thundercrunch chicken burger was friggen good though The staff tonight (Darren our waiter) needed to stop flirting. I shouldnt have to ask for a coffee refill is #1. When he watched our toddler dump chocolate milk he should have been there with a cloth to wipe it up instead of handing us 20 napkins. It wasn't busy there. Great light and fluffy pancakes! I ordered the Two and Two - two eggs any style and your choice of two pancakes or two slices of French toast. The decor and atmosphere has an IHOP feel, but Grainfields' pancakes are far superior to IHOP's. Reasonable prices. read more

The food is consistently good if you like home style high calorie foods. The service could use some work. It was very busy today so, I'll give it a pass. The server took our order and then came back to tell us that she's about to go on her break. That's fine. Someone else brought our food after a longer than usual wait only to have the original server follow behind with the bill that she placed on the table before we even started to eat it. Guess we aren't having desert, or any refills on our $3 coffees. I actually submitted this before I paid with a 3* but reduced this after I went to pay. The guy at the til was quite aloof, didn't even ask how everything was. Essentially just took the money and put in the minimal amount of effort of acknowledging someone was standing there It used to have great service. I really don't have to get into to many details about my last meal here because people need to eat. Grosvenor location(Yeah that disgusting and disappointed)It's like they stopped trying. At one time this was an awesome place to go. Now it's just gross, the only reason I'm giving one star is because I'm forced to inorder to post my review. Please get your act together and your standards back in check. Oh yeah and my sever was really bad. Never asked me to refill my drinks. Talked like as if she was annoyed that someone was wanting to eat it like a customer was inconveniencing her from doing her work. Love his place!! I'm slightly biased, as I used to work here for close to 5 years. Great atmosphere and tasty food. I have to recommend breakfast (it is, after all, a pancake and Waffle House) and those are my top picks! As he other poster mentioned, the Saskatoon waffle (or cakes) are awesome!! Oh my! First of all, everything on my warm plate was cold. But Eggs Benedict with fried eggs? on a bed of dried up ham? with mystery yellow sauce that almost had a fishy flavor? I have never had an entire plate of food that I didn't like anything on. Ate one of the bennies, a few of the cold potato things, but stopped there. The coffee on the other hand, was hot and delicious! Good thing hubby had an extra pancake, which was yummy. Our waitress was very nice and luckily we didn't have to pay for my meal. Big thumbs down. Ok for breakfast but be careful for lunch. Fries come cold and gravy comes with a nice film on it. Wife had a chicken burger that was colder than Macdonalds. I had the liver and onions or should I say shoe leather and onions. If we hadn't been in such a hurry we would have just walked out. So much for a great lunch in the city. Nice breakfast place, serving exactly what you expect: pancakes, waffles, egg dishes. (The menu includes lunch and dinner.) The food is fresh and hot, served by cheerful waitstaff. Best breakfast going, attentive servers, kind & helpful to make experience eating there a treat. Everything menu wise is a good meal there, I've had quite a few. I always appreciate the layout, easy to carry on conversation without being loud, or interfering from other tables. My wife and I went to Grainfields on 8th street on Sunday evening for dinner, it was a surprise for us how bad the service was, we waited after we ordered for 40 min just to get the appetizer, and 20 more to get the main course. The food quality was not that great either, the hash browns were almost burned. I have to say that the staff was very friendly but unfortunately that didn't change our experience in this location, they were trying to hard to serve everyone ( only two servers) but it was very disappointing. We won't be coming back to this place. read more

I called in an order for pickup. Although the phone was answered immediately, it took them 5 minutes to find someone competent enough to take my order. I was quoted 10-15 minutes. After half an hour and a few different employees checking on me telling me that it was "almost done" or not knowing why it was taking so long. I finally got my food at just over the 45 min mark with no offer/effort to provide incentive for repeat business. The food was mediocre at best and it was obvious it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a decent amount of time. They won't get my patronage again. read more

We live nearby and have been the Grainfields on 8th Street many times for breakfast. We had an appointment in the evening and decided to go there for supper. The restaurant wasn't busy so we couldn't believe that after 35 minutes from the time our order was taken we still hadn't received our meal. I went to the hostess to ask and we waited yet another 10 minutes. We had to wolf down our food so we could leave on time for our appointment. The hostess gave us a 50% discount which is not what we were looking for. We fully expected to pay the price on the menu to receive adequate service and our food in a reasonable amount of time. You don't enjoy a meal you have to hurry to eat and which is preceded by the frustration of slow service. Paying even half the price seems ridiculous. I don't know what happened to this restaurant but they are not going to get return business with such unacceptable wait times. No amount of discount makes that into a worthwhile experience. read more

We were on our way to a different cafe only to find it was closed. We looked around and being celiac, it is challenging to find places I can eat. I knew Grainfields had a few options, although in the past they were not the tastiest or widest variety. We decided to give it a go because it was right there and it was freezing out. So very pleasantly surprised! A much wider menu for celiacs, and a dedicated deep fryer too!! They had a delicious hamburger option with the tastiest gluten free bun I have had in a while. My friend kept laughing as I squished the bun and was concerned it wasn't gluten free it was so springy! I indulged in fries and our server was fantastic refilling our waters and coffees before we were empty. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, which was reassuring when eating somewhere with a food allergy. The payment station was busy when we were leaving but the young man made sure to acknowledge us and let us know he would be with us quickly. All in all a great visit and I will be back. read more
