I was hungry and just trying to find any place for breakfast, when I came across the Ivy. It looked cozy from outside, so I dipped in, only to find a mostly empty restaurant (it was that odd late breakfast time before lunch). The waitress was fantastic, and the breakfast a delight. I had my first English breakfast and wasn't disappointed. I demolished everything (but the blood sausage--sorry, I tried it, not my thing) and was stuffed and ready to make-up w my sister. Soooo good, I'm still thinking about that breakfast.

The roads themselves have been walked by Kings, Queens, Lords, Ladies, scholars and authors. The staff was super kind and helpful. They explained the offerings and made helpful suggestions on what to order. Both the interior and exterior of the restaurant were breathtaking! Being here almost felt like being a character in an adventure novel. There is a functional wheel from when it used to be a mill. You just can't help being enveloped in the history and the ambience here. The food was also excellent here, which made it one of my favorite places in Southern England. Without a shadow of a doubt, I would eat here again!

One issue I have, which has repeated itself every time I go, is the difficulty in getting a glass of water. I'm glad B.L. also ran into this problem so I'm not the only one. Last time I went, I personally counted 6 requests for water to at least 3 different servers before it came. Is there a conspiracy here? when I order beer, it comes quick no problem. Are they trying to steer me towards buying a drink? I don't know, but it's happened often enough for me to wonder. Won't stop me from coming back though, because it is very good, but I might just bring a bottle of water with me next time.

He had to charge my card for the reorder and it was left to me to correct their mistake by contacting a third party for a refund for the online order?! It's completely absurd and a lack of accountability for them to place the legwork on their customers when they are trying to cut out the middleman that they promote on their own website! We are here on holiday and making international calls to correct someone else's mistakes is not a getaway. There was ONE person servicing the tables. He tried his best to help but he said he's new and there was no manager onsite. It's such a poorly run operation that puts their incompetence and greed over their customers. Avoid! The food does not make up for the inconvenience, experience, and lack of service.
