We were guests for a fabulous rehearsal dinner hosted at the Pint Shop! All the courses were delicious, plated beautifully and the staff was attentive to my allergies. The juice rocket was a great hazy on draft! Charming ambiance! The scotch egg and pork belly were exceptional!

Great fish and chips and a great variety of beers. Great place for a drink or dinner!!! The service was great and they also have a garden on the back. Great place!

I had great recommendations from the bartender for a delicious citrusy IPA and their Sunday beef special. They were both exceptional!

MEAT. BREAD. BEER. That's the business tag line on the windows and menu. Based on the idea of original English beer houses, The Pint Shop has become a popular pub to enjoy a variety of cask and keg ales in the centre of Cambridge. I've been here a couple of times. When we came for dinner, the bar area was packed and loud. Once seated, though, the ambiance in the dining room gave us a chance to hear ourselves talk. BREAD To start, we had their selection of Bread, Sea Salt Crackers, and Cider Butter. A nice beginning bite. MEAT We also tried the Moons Green Beer Sticks (a jerky-like bar snack). Our mains were the Pint Shop Cheeseburger and Beer Brined Curry Chicken with chips. Both were good, and my plate portion seemed to be a whole chicken! BEER Though the name suggests their main selection of drinks involves British craft beer and cider, they actually distill their own gin and have a full bar available stocked with wine and whiskey. I've tried the house cocktails Sloe & Ginger (Sloe Gin, Lemon Juice, Ginger Ale) and the Dark & Stormy (El Ron Prohibido, Ginger Beer, Lime)--the former was smooth, the latter strong. ETC. Service was fine on both occasions. My only issue with Pint Shop is that when I came in for an afternoon snack in the less busy bar, the soft-boiled Scotch Egg I'd read about was severely salty; barely edible. I do hope that was just a bad batch that day, because this is a place I hope to return to!

Stopped in for a late lunch and a drink on a Thursday afternoon, which turned out to be a great idea. Not crowded, just a couple of other people in. The bar tender greeted us, immediately ready to provide suggestions and tastes from their extensive beer list (compared to the vast majority of other UK and Cambridge pubs). Ordered a scotch egg and a burger. The scotch egg was quite tasty, perfect after you might have had a pint too many and need to soak it up a bit. The burgers came out rather quickly, and were extremely good. Be warned, when they say medium rare, they mean the rare side of it. It's fine with me, but I like beef to moo at me when I take a bite. It was hands down one of the best burgers I have had the pleasure of eating in a LONG time. If you're looking for a solid beer selection a d good pub grub check out the Pint Shop. Really the only drawback is that it is a bit expensive (but it is Cambridge after all), and they don't serve a full menu in the bar area.

Came here with my son for lunch (reserved in advance, a good thing), and it was really good. Ironically, neither of us had a beer (but what a selection!). The menus was inventive, and tourist-priced. My son had the burger (excellent), and i had the fried chicken w/aioli & shrimp pasty (both excellent). Service was friendly & efficient. The only negative (& really stretching here..) was the double espresso: it was too strong for me, & I think diesel is too weak... Very good. You should all go.

Stopped into the Pint Shop twice for drinks whilst visiting my brother in Cambridge in late November 2016. Upon entering this is a small bar area up front with several small tables. While seating is limited, especially on the weekend, we were able to snag a small table without issue. There is also a very nice outdoor seating area in the back of the establishment which would be great in the warmer months Staff is super friendly. Beers ranged from £3.8-£6, with roughly ten draft and six cask beers. With a beer list consisting of cider, sours, ipas, browns, to pilsners, there is definitely something for everyone. For the non beer drinker, there was an extensive gin list and I believe other spirits as well. In terms of food, the main pub has a small selection of sandwiches and pub fare. They also have scotch eggs that looked great. While we never did have one of the delicious looking scotch eggs, we did order a cheeseburger one of the nights which was fantastic. Restaurant had a more extensive menu which also looked very appetizing. Overall - great spot for unique british craft beers and an extensive offering of gin. Highly recommend the Pint Shop.

If I came here for just beer alone it would be five stars! But since I came her also for the food I had to knock it down one star. Let's start with the amazing beer selection they have! They have a whole chalkboard with many local beer and what they pair perfect with food wise! So it's super easy to pick a beer based off the type of flavors you like. The food itself was also very good too. I came here and ordered a burger and some "dirty chips" which were fries with parm cheese in them. The burger wasn't cooked to how I'd asked but it was still yummy. My friend had the grilled aubergine which looked so much better than the burger! May have to get the next time. The service here was pretty slow as we were only able to order one beer by the time our dinner was almost over. But the beer selection here is amazing so will def come back to grab many pints

We really enjoyed our first visit to The Pint Shop. Being Valentines Day it was pretty busy but we were lucky and shown to a table in the back dining room. Theres a relaxed vibe with plenty of family groups coming and going. The waiters were top qualiry, friendly and attentive offering recommendations about the beer and even bringing us a refill because we were waiting a while for the pie. The beef and pickled walnut pie was delicious. Perfect gravy soaked pastry with crispy edges and pickled walnuts adding a little something extra. Fishfinger brioche was fine. Oh and the beer was great! Next time we're heading to the front bar and the bar snack menu....and we're already looking forward to it!

Hot wings are mildly spicy and sweet

Pint Shop looks like an average place to grab a drink or bite to eat. It's very minimalist but open with two levels of indoor and outdoor seating. They boast a small range of craft beer and good GnTs. We ordered hot wings to start which were more on the sweet chilli side than anything that will make your eyes water. For the mains we got two sandwiches, a pork belly on sourdough and fried chicken on brioche. Both were tasty but I preferred the chicken with a somewhat spicy sauce, lettuce and pickles. Our sides were a yummy spinach with good flavour and a bland potatoes with truffle cheese. There was no truffle taste so I would skip it for fries which you can get with curry instead. The initial service was slow so they comped our drinks and made sure to check on us more often. It was a nice touch so I would recommend coming here as it's a large, clean bar with friendly staff which isn't always easy to find during the height of tourist season.

    Such good puddings!

Oh the Pint Shop. A consistent favorite - I have been here consistently once or twice a month over the last 20 months. :D Try their roasts - fabulous pork belly and roast chicken. Their scotch egg is the best I've ever had. The seasonal greens are buttery and delicious - especially if you love kale! And then there are the puddings. Oh the puddings. They are a little (or large) slice of heaven. Fruit crumbles, cheesecakes, grilled bananas, ice creams.... The menu changes regularly, so don't be ashamed to go often!

Good beer selection. No public WiFi. Hard to hangout in the bar for a long time without WiFi particularly when you have to do some work.

My…read morePhilly cheesesteak inspired sandwich was truly excellent, with warm, juicy flavorful beef and rich cheese curds, nicely balanced by green bell peppers and onions and bound together by a mild garlic aioli on perfect sandwich bread. Also got a slightly spicy and crisp coleslaw for a cool contrast and a minor dose of vitamins. My tablemates were also really pleased with their orders (a vaguely East Asian glazed chicken with pickled Banh Mi-style veggies and a cold roast beef with arugula--must try those next). Wow. Another reason to visit Cambridge.

Nice, high quality sandwiches. I actually went here two…read moredays in a row while staying in Cambridge. The first day I ordered two sandwiches, the Porchetta and the Jerk Chicken. The Porchetta sandwich has nice roasted pork and a crispy strip of pork skin to top it off. The description says it has a salsa verde sauce. To me, it was more like a pesto-style sauce. The pork was all meat and didn't have any globs of fat that you sometimes find in American pulled pork barbecue. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich was the weekly special. It consisted of several pieces of skin-on mostly dark meat chicken, house made slaw and I think a little mayo. I took off the chicken skin. It wasn't crispy and I don't care for much chicken skin. Even doing that, it had good flavor. A nice blend of spices and a little spiciness. I didn't eat it right away but it was still good. Like I said, I ordered this sandwich the next day. This time I ate it soon after ordering. The roll was still warm and slightly crunchy. I liked even more when eating it "fresh." I removed the skin on this one too. I used the take out window on the side and they were pretty quick, even though there were about four or five people in front of me. I'll definitely go back when in town and craving a sandwich.
