I was hungry and just trying to find any place for breakfast, when I came across the Ivy. It looked cozy from outside, so I dipped in, only to find a mostly empty restaurant (it was that odd late breakfast time before lunch). The waitress was fantastic, and the breakfast a delight. I had my first English breakfast and wasn't disappointed. I demolished everything (but the blood sausage--sorry, I tried it, not my thing) and was stuffed and ready to make-up w my sister. Soooo good, I'm still thinking about that breakfast.

A colleague recommended it and I'm so happy we went…read more The interior had a bird theme and each area had a bit different decor, which made this place even more charming. Menu wasn't too big and they even had a gluten free menu for one of our companions. Service was nice. We had the prawns as a starter-the flavor was great, but for the price we only got 3 or 4 tiny prawns. There were lots of tomatoes which were greatly seasoned. I had a chicken dish for dinner which was fine.

Also got a slightly spicy and crisp coleslaw for a cool contrast and a minor dose of vitamins. My tablemates were also really pleased with their orders (a vaguely East Asian glazed chicken with pickled Banh Mi-style veggies and a cold roast beef with arugula--must try those next). Wow. I headed in here after feeling particularly sorry one morning and with few other cafes open at 9am on a Sunday. Ordered the Tatties breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't try their baked potatoes, but I'd be keen to come back again and try it at some point in the future when I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful meal! It's also a bit of a plus it's out the way as it means it's now far less busy than the other branch used to be. Good to see a Cambridge tradition is being upheld!
