    shop (2014)

After a 'slightly' heavy night before a big shopping trip with my mum, I was in desperate need for food by the time lunch rolled around. After hitting a few of the sales and getting those much needed last minute presents, we headed into Bill's, safe in the knowledge they could provide something a bit hearty but not overwhelming. We were greeted after a few minutes and told a table would be ready, it just needed a wipe down, then taken to the back of the restaurant to sit. Decor hasn't changed dramatically since my visit a few years ago, though it still stands out against its Manchester relative due to the shop being available. Our order for drinks was taken fairly quickly, but that's when time started to stand still - our diet cokes took what felt like a long time to arrive, at which point I was ready to drink anything that was put in front of me, but then we had to wait for our food order. Now, that was a long wait. Especially as we had to watch the tables arriving around us and receiving their food at a much quicker pace. Eventually we asked and the waitress assured us it would only be a few moments, but it did feel more like we had been forgotten than there had been any kind of kitchen mistake. My halloumi and hummus was good, and the right balance between stodge and health that I was looking for, though the couple of pieces of halloumi left me feeling a bit slighted. Where's my cheese? It remains A-OK as the food is consistent, but the service was poor in my opinion.

This is my nicest breakfast experience in UK ( I am a traveler from China.) we really enjoy the food here. The decoration was also nice! I will recommend everyone I know to visit here!

Also got a slightly spicy and crisp coleslaw for a cool contrast and a minor dose of vitamins. My tablemates were also really pleased with their orders (a vaguely East Asian glazed chicken with pickled Banh Mi-style veggies and a cold roast beef with arugula--must try those next). Wow. Another reason to visit Cambridge.

Nice, high quality sandwiches. I actually went here two…read moredays in a row while staying in Cambridge. The first day I ordered two sandwiches, the Porchetta and the Jerk Chicken. The Porchetta sandwich has nice roasted pork and a crispy strip of pork skin to top it off. The description says it has a salsa verde sauce. To me, it was more like a pesto-style sauce. The pork was all meat and didn't have any globs of fat that you sometimes find in American pulled pork barbecue. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich was the weekly special. It consisted of several pieces of skin-on mostly dark meat chicken, house made slaw and I think a little mayo. I took off the chicken skin. It wasn't crispy and I don't care for much chicken skin. Even doing that, it had good flavor. A nice blend of spices and a little spiciness. I didn't eat it right away but it was still good. Like I said, I ordered this sandwich the next day. This time I ate it soon after ordering. The roll was still warm and slightly crunchy. I liked even more when eating it "fresh." I removed the skin on this one too. I used the take out window on the side and they were pretty quick, even though there were about four or five people in front of me. I'll definitely go back when in town and craving a sandwich.
