The seabass ceviche was really excellent. The fish tasted super fresh and was mixed with crunchy lettuce and creamy avocado which made a great contrast of textures. Even though others on the table had charcuterie and Camembert I didn't have food envy -though that's not to say I didn't snaffle bits of other people's. All delicious. The duck was beautifully cooked and very flavoursome. It came with some very tasty veg and spinach, and a veritable tower of potato. I didn't enjoy the potato tower as much as I could as it wasn't very creamy and had potato skins in it - not really my scene. Along with my meal I had a delicious bottle of red. I can't remember what it was but our waitress took the time to help us out with the wine list. The price was fairly reasonable and I was happy with the service - overall this is a great place and I'd recommend to Cambridge dwellers and visitors. One thing to note: the toilets are outside and then inside another building. Do not be alarmed if a staff member directs you to the toilet and all of a sudden you're in the street!

They had both a set menu and a standard menu to choose from. The set menu didn't particularly take my fancy so I avoided it, that was purely a personal choice though there was nothing wrong with it. For starters I shared a baked Camembert, which was served with toast, salad and an onion chutney. It was pretty good although more toast would have been appreciated. For the main course I had the fillet steak and came across one of the nicest steaks I've ever had. It took me by surprise to be honest i wasn't expecting it! The chips it came with were nothing special though. The only comment I would have is that I asked for it medium and it came way less than medium, wasn't complaining though I was very glad they did so! The whole meal came to £30-40 each including drinks which wasn't too bad at all considering we all had steak or fish. Overall I had a great time, the staff were friendly and efficient and if I could give it 4.5 I would. It falls shy of a 5 unfortunately though.

When we finished our drink we went inside to pay and I asked her if it was possible if we could have the exact same balcony table, she replied not necessarily the same table, at this point an older man from behind the bar commented "we cannot guarantee a balcony table at all" we looked at the waitress and said "Oh, we thought you confirmed a balcony table" she looked at the man who then commented "no, I have allocated them downstairs" we responded to the waitress that we particularly wanted a balcony table therefore any availability for the following evening, she looked and confirmed availability when the man (barman/manager?) said 'No, I told you we cannot guarantee balcony tables, I allocate on the day, therefore will decide tomorrow, do you want a booking or not" I asked why he was being so rude, my husband then said we just want to pay and leave, at this point he became verbally aggressive and told us to get out, my husband said to the embarrassed waitress please just take the payment we want to leave, the man just repeated "get out I do not want your money, get out and do not come back". We have absolutely no idea what triggered his shocking behaviour towards us as we were just trying to make a reservation. Fortunately we do not encounter this type of aggression usually and went on to have a very lovely Birthday dinner in Brown's, excellent food, good ambience and friendly staff.

It was good food and definately a nice to place to visit. The items were pre-cooked and reheated when you ordered it. I did see those that ordered it and ate it there the meal included salad and fresh skinny french fries. What is more to talk about is the Friday and Saturday nights. I know that by writing this it might ruin the special and exclusive nature of it all. From what I heard from a local friend that has lived here for years, is that they fly in a chef from France and he cooks special meals for those nights. If you can get past that you are in a little cafe, which in itself is very french then this place could be a very special find in Cambridge. I haven't tried out this special Friday. Ordered medium rare and as any one knows it should be bleeding, and it was!. Good job. Preferred slaw to fries and it did not disappoint, red crunchy slight tang and not sweet, awesome. Cucumbers had a good pickle to them, bacon could have been more present and the burger sauce should be slathered, other than that a fine experience getting a great burger so far away from the US. But those infractions will cost the 5 stars I'm sure this place is capable of. The old days of bland overdone burgers outside the US are over, the clown will return to Honest Burger!
