Monkfish fillet

Lovely place and lovely decor. Not many customers on a Tuesday night. Indeed 3 tables in total. Food is served quite quickly and delicately presented and the staff are very friendly . I was told if in summer time , sitting on the deck , you can enjoy the sound of the running River next to it and that sounds pretty relaxing to me. " like " for that part! And they have 2 chocolate balls given at the end for treats !

What's more, it is on the far side of the road for all the punt touts, so you get left in peace / get to watch other people being pestered.

Came here for dinner and they were super dog friendly. There are bar seats, but also dining tables…read morein the bar area so we were able to bring our furry friend with us. There was outdoor areas with lighting, but a tad too cold out. Cute areas though. They were pretty busy as well and luckily we got a good table. Wait staff were friendly, pace of service was a little slower than what I'm used to. Had to hail someone down quite a bit, but overall food was great. We started out with cocktails because there was a special, happy hour going on. Potted Devon crab with avocado guacamole and chicken liver parfait. Not sure why I expected the Devon crab to be hot.... but it was tasty. I craved a couple more pieces of toast. I got the duck leg confit with citrus sauce and my friend got St. Austell's Tribute Steak and Ale pie. The duck was delicious. Perfectly cooked, sauce went well with it. The Dauphinoise potato, I wanted more so badly. My plate was cleaned except for the bones. The steak and ale pie was not bad, my friend enjoyed it. We finished dinner off with their pistachio soufflé. I asked what was recommended for dessert, never had a pistachio soufflé before, and it was rich and sweet. Offset by the chocolate ice cream, which had a slight bitterness to it. Perfect combination. The table next to us got the chateaubriand for two. That looked amazing and had my mouth watering. If I'm ever back in the area, I do plan on making another trip hopefully.

This place definitely delivered. We sat outside in their pleasant garden. Only downside is it's not south facing so wasn't in the sun. We got a bit chilly after a while so we moved to one of their tables with a heater. Much more cosy. Service was very friendly. They brought some water and offered biscuits to our dog (always a winner). Food was excellent. The beetroot and burrata salad was particularly tasty and beautifully presented. Potted shrimp was also very tasty. It gets 4 rather than 5 because it is a little expensive. Worth it but still a bit pricey for a pub. We would definitely return if we were in the area as there were a lot of delectable sounding items on the menu.

As you leave Norwich into the wilderness there emerged the Wildebeest. Good car parking but looks…read morelike need to book for a meal. Great choice of food on fixed day menu plus good beer and wine. My ribeye perfect and plenty of mussels as starter. Filled up quite quickly and served from 6-8 but we stayed till after 9 as did plenty of others. 3AA rosette so top restaurant and moderately high prices.

Ever the open minded traveller (and food lover) when I found out that I would be visiting the Wildebeest Arms a local popular gastropub run by a top local chef, I was excited! My excitement extended to elation when I learned that instead of Sunday brunch, Britts tend to enjoy something called Sunday Lunch, which is served in the early afternoon and most typically involves you consuming the traditional meal of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding - OMG! So take it from this Canadian, back home - in Toronto, there are a lot of places that offer a Roast Beef dinner, specifically Irish/English pubs, and you know what - they do alright by the tradition, but, more often than not, you're getting something overcooked and just missing a soul. I've never had authentic British cuisine before, and say what you want about it... but it's hearty, it's seasonal, it's delicious and just feels good! The Roast dinner/lunch special was about 20GBP if memory serves so in CAD $ that's about $35. Everything was incredibly tasty and cooked perfectly, however, some members of our party noted that sections of their beef was a touch over cooked. On the other hand, my order was perfection, my only complaint - and maybe it's the glutton in me, but the serving I received was much smaller than that of others at the table. I was a tad disappointed about this since it was the part of the meal I enjoyed the most. The size of my meat (pause for a laugh) aside, the entire meal including the YSP (Yorkshire puds), the potatoes and root veggies were all on point and cooked masterfully! I was feeling peckish still at the conclusion of my meal and somehow got talked into ordering another UK seasonal favourite for dessert - Sticky Toffee Pudding. OMG x2, this cake is basically like a piece of dessert concrete and if I had about 25% room left before, I was properly 45% over capacity following my consumption if it. But so worth every sinful bite, especially the to die for caramel sauce the whole dish sat in.. nom nom nom nom. I can't say I'll be back in Norwich in the near future again, but if you're traveling out this way and happen upon the Wildebeest Arms on a Sunday, add it to your travel plans Eatcrest Out
