They're absolutely delicious when still warm and fresh out of the oven and they bake them pretty much all day, so they're just about always fresh. One of my favorite ways to enjoy them over the years was to get the maple butter and blueberry jam and mix the two. The flavors of the butter, maple and blueberry all complimented the savory flavor of the popover. However, this year I was disappointed to see that they no longer are offering the maple butter, even for an upcharge. Please bring this back, it really took the popovers to another level! Maybe whip it into thawed butter instead of hand mixing it to make it easier? The whipped butter is easier to dip in and spread anyway. The new pre-packaged / mass produced butter packs take away from the appeal of a freshly-made popover. Sometimes in the morning it can be a little crowded in here with people waiting for their coffee / drinks to be made by a counter not far from where you place your order, so if you're walking in and haven't ordered yet then check if the people standing around are just waiting on coffee or waiting to order. It would be a nice improvement to see some separation (maybe with some ropes or floor markings) to make it more clear who is in line to order and who is waiting for their beverage to be made. It's worth noting it's takeout only and there's nowhere inside to sit, but there are some benches just outside on the sidewalk where you can have your popover and coffee.

We got right in on a Sunday morning, checked into the front desk and let us sit where ever we wanted. Immediately after sitting down we were helped and got our orders in soon after. One of the most impressive parts was the system the waitresses have with the kitchen staff. They scream the orders to the kitchen and they get them prepped with out missing a beat, no tickets to read off of, just complete in sync. Now to the food.... I almost licked my plate clean after inhaling the blueberry pancakes with the blueberry syrup (a must and was warm syrup.) I was in heaven! So many blueberries, butter and perfectly cooked. Bacon was perfectly crisped, rye bread coated in butter, normal diner scrambled eggs, very tasty fresh home fries, and a delicious hot coffee. I left extremely stuffed! And food was served quick, not much waiting around. The chowder was also delicious and creamy and passed the spoon test (to see how thick it is.) Had a great clammy tastewhich i love with my chowder. Can't go wrong here and oh ya, the bowl of chowder came with a complimentary blueberry muffin! If we weren't too full at all I would have gotten the muffin grilled with butter. I stopped by a couple of times during my trip to Bar Harbor and absolutely loved it. After a day of shopping and dinner, this was the perfect spot for a sweet treat. The classic flavors, especially the plain glazed and sprinkles, were excellent. My brother tried the Maple Bacon doughnut and really enjoyed it as well. The staff was friendly and provided great service, which made the experience even better. This shop is definitely worth a visit whether you're a doughnut fan or just in the area. The amazing artwork and branding is a huge plus as well. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more
