I have had their ice cream many times out of convenience. They do have a really good location that's draws people. The ice cream itself is average. The service is decent. There is no such thing as healthy ice cream so when you eat ice cream and you don't get that whole milk creaminess in your mouth it feels like an incomplete experience and that's how I feel after I eat their ice cream. If you are someone that prefers liter versions of ice cream theirs might actually be something you end up liking....not the place for me. I am going to the chocolate shoppe for my ice cream! read more

Incredible, fresh ice cream! Definitely 5 stars! I wanted to taste every flavor. The staff were so friendly today to my family, especially when we kept spilling ice and water (and ice cream)! They didn't even let it bother them. They carry special chocolates from OH, too - get your Buckeye candy here! Great location, right next to a large park. read more

Kids favorite! Our kids love going to the Bilkage Green park across the street then to Graeter's afterwards.

LOVE all the ice cream there! We've had the bourbon pecan, Mexican chocolate, double chocolate chip, coconut chocolate chip & toffee chocolate chip! Soooo good! read more

Graeter's Ice Cream - Scoop of Mexican chocolate and toffee chocolate chip in a waffle cone - Desserts Near Me - Northbrook, Illinois

I'm biased, because this is the first ice cream I ever ate, and also because it's objectively the best. I grew up on Mocha Chocolate Chip, but now I also love Salted Caramel. Just let this ice cream melt on your tongue- that creamy flavor you're experiencing is REAL ice cream. Love Graeter's!! read more

It's nice. I like it. Kind of overpriced not going to lie. The thing is, the parking situation is not ideal. There's not a lot of it. It's nice in the summer because if you live near downtown Northbrook it's not horrible to walk to. Also, Baskin Robbins is right across the street and it's half the price of this place. Service is great at both but ice cream is ice cream and this ice cream is not special enough to be twice the price as the store across the street. The portions are not huge. The scoops are kind of small so it seems always more worth it to get a large instead of a regular. Good ice cream but not good for your pockets read more

First started loving Graeters when I spent a decade in Cincinnati. The ice cream was always the best. I missed it after leaving the area in 1999. Now it is available on the northshore, couldn't be more psyched. read more

Graeter's Ice Cream - So yummy!!! - Desserts Near Me - Northbrook, Illinois

Very good flavor of real cream, intense flavors (I had the black cherry chocolate chip, tried a few samples including bourbon pecan). Homemade quality ice cream. read more

I love ice cream and I love this place. Its nice to take the ice cream to go and eat it at the park across the st. I try and try something different every time read more

I LOVE Graeter's Toffee Chocolate Chip Ice Cream!!!!!!! Best. Flavor. Ever!!!! I love how parts of the toffee is a little saucy throughout the ice cream, along with delicious chunks of chocolate. The sad thing though is they don't have that flavor on the west coast. I can only get it when I visit friends in the midwest and unfortunately, the shipping cost is too expensive. read more

For all the ice cream lovers- this is probably as good as it gets! Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side.. but definitely worth trying. They have amazing flavors, different than your usual- strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, etc. I saw that they had ice cream cakes- which I'll be trying soon! Mariano's also carries the ice cream it if you're looking to try it out and don't feel like driving all the way there. read more

Right when we walked in someone came over to help us and he explained that they're known for all of their chocolate chip flavors. They also have seasonal flavors that don't come back. I went with the seasonal Dark Raspberry Gelato and it was so delicious! They have a variety of different waffle cones including this tiny cone that is not on display...but they sure do load up your cone! They have lots of tables and many different gifts and edible goodies you can buy. They also have a fridge full of cakes. It's very nicely decorated for the holidays and even has a little fireplace (screen) in the corner. If you want to try any ice-cream they will give you a sample. It was pretty busy when we went over the weekend, but there were plenty of tables to sit at. read more

I go here at least 10x/year. I love it!!! I can eat this ice cream allll day

This is simply the best ice cream available. The quality of the ingredients are unsurpassed and every flavor is beyond delicious. As other reviewers have mentioned (and I wholeheartedly agree!), the black raspberry chocolate chip, the black cherry chocolate chip and the seasonal flavors are all spectacular. Staff is always pleasant as well which simply adds to the experience. For a really cool gift or a great take along to a picnic or Ravinia, consider their 'treat bag' which includes pints of your choosing in a very nice insulated carrier that keeps the ice cream cold for 12 hours! read more

While here saw a guy devour the biggest sundae I've seen in a sitting. Just him and the mound of ice cream! No company. It was man vs ice cream and he demolished it. Up and left right after devouring. Either he had a really bad day or really loved the ice cream! Probably the latter as Graeter's has the creamiest ice cream I've tried! Strawberry cheesecake ice cream in particular is what I keep coming back for. Yes, a bit pricey but satisfyingly sweet! read more

Graeter's in Northbrook, IL is conveniently making extra money due to the coin shortage! We are a regular client of Graeter's of Northbrook, as we live close by. Yesterday my son and I biked in the neighborhood and stopped by for some ice cream. I waited outside while my 11 years old boy went to get the ice cream. His bill was $7.10. He let the cashier $20 and was supposed to get $12.90 back, but only got $12 due to the coin shortage as was explained to him. They decided to keep his .90 cents, how fair is it? I understand that there is a coin shortage, but shouldn't they use the rounding system? read more

Hands down, the best ice cream! Great little shop too! The place can get busy but everyone is in a good mood and the line moves quickly.

Top notch ice cream. Awesome staff and service. One of the best players in the Chicagoland area for real ice cream.

My first visit to Graeter's was during the Northbrook Shermerfest. I had a delicious dish of blueberry ice cream. Next time, I decided to go for one of their signature sundaes. The young man who served me had a lot of trouble scooping the ice cream out of the bucket and it took him quite a while. When he served my ice cream, I noticed that it didn't have any whipped cream or nuts on top. I felt embarrassed to ask but I thought since it was a sundae these would be included. it turned out that he just forgot. Considering that the prices are higher than other local ice cream shops, I would have expected better service. The next time, if I want Graeter's Ice Cream I think I will just buy it in the grocery store. If you are considering buying a flavor that has chunks of anything in it, I would reconsider because they are hard to scoop and, I discovered, hard to chew. Overall: just OK. read more

I saw this location on the street corner when I first got into town. It looked so promising, I put it on my list of places to visit. So I go in on a hot day to check out the seasonal peach flavor. I was very excited. I order the pretzel cone because it looked like a wafer cone--my favorite. The assistant manager scoops a half scoop. The top was flat, about 2 millimeters above the cone! I asked, "Does the ice cream go to the bottom of the cone?" "No, I would have to push it down to do that," he said. "It doesn't even look like the picture." He shrugs. The sorriest, rip-offiest ice cream cone for $5.21. I've driven cross-country, eating ice cream in many states. This was the worst I've ever had. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the "pretzel cone" was hard. And the ice cream wasn't even better than something you would get at the grocery store. Very disappointed. read more

The best ice cream! They are great with handling allergies and their Covid procedures are excellent. Love this place!

We love the Ice cream here! But it is expensive! 1 scoop cup is $3 and 2scoop cup is $5. The services vary... we visited on Good Friday night, and the service were poor, the servers were very unhappy and unwilling... didn't make our kids day for sure! Will I visit often... ? NO read more

Hands down the best ice cream you'll find in Northbrook- or the whole north shore for that matter. Every single flavor is delicious and creamy and I highly recommend any of their "chip" flavors because their chocolate chips are AMAZING. It's so good that I'll continue to keep coming throughout the winter months. Really can't get enough. read more

Ever get heartburn from eating an ice cream cone? Me neither, until last night. We stopped here after a walk to try it; no interesting flavors - banana ice cream which I was hoping for was "seasonal" and not available per the help, I tried a sample of the peanut butter chip but it lacked essential peanut butter flavor (Baskin Robbins chocolate peanut butter is much better). I went with coconut chip and my wife had "double chocolate" . The coconut was a typical product not terrible but not inspired (if you really want to taste coconut try the fresh ice cream in a small town in Mexico); same with the chocolate: pretty insipid. Is it asking too much for someone to go a little further and make a good dark chocolate with mandarin orange or lemoncello or a good espresso flavored coffee? I guess it is. So. We now have four mediocre desert places at or aound this interesection: two ice cream places, a frozen yogurt place and a chocolate shoppe; can we trade them all in for an old style Lutzes? About the heartburn-I woke up with it in the middle of the night; it wasn't much but if I had enjoyed the ice cream more I wouldn't have though twice about it. read more

Best ice cream ever love there gelato so good so creamy delicious highly recommend this place

The ice cream is really good! I ordered the chocolate one from UberEATS. I will get it again!

Wow. I got the cherry chocolate ice cream scoop and it was delicious. Unlike other cherry ice creams that has chocolate bits that crumble when you bite it; this chocolate is gooey and delicious! It just melts in your mouth. Gonna come back again! read more

This place is great! We come here like, once a week. My son loves the cotton candy flavor of which has bits of frozen cotton candy pieces in it. When they say with chocolate chips they really mean chocolate chunks (not a bad thing in any way ) We have tried the black cherry chip (my fav so far) mint chocolate chip, strawberry chocolate chip, hazelnut chip, cookie dough, and bananas foster, All were very high quality. All their flavored come in either cup ( $.50 up charge but larger scoop)sugar cone, waffle cone ( $1 up charge but also bigger scoop) or pretzel cone. I was excited to try the pretzel cone but found it to be too salty. I feel sorry for the Baskin Robbins across the street , they were empty and the line was out the door here. All in all a great new addition to downtown Northbrook. read more

I just love Graeter's! I first had it in Columbus, OH and was so excited to hear they were opening up a location in Northbrook. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the flavors they carry. I've tried a bunch of flavors and have liked everything. Downside is that it's on the pricier side, and if you want 2 flavors you have to get the double scoop. I recommend the black raspberry, chocolate chip, mocha, buckeye, and peach (seasonal). If you want quality ice cream in the suburbs, it's worth the trip. read more

Undoubtedly the best ice cream I have ever had. I happen to love cinnamon ice cream which is a rare find. Graeters had it late fall as a seasonal flavor. All I will say is that I bought about 20 pints to take home and store. Amazing. read more

Look. This ice cream is great. There is no argument there. I ordered a scoop of double chocolate chip in a dish. At first they charged me over 10 dollars. I started to laugh. She apologized and thought I had 2 scoops. So it was right under $5. Wow. I don't eat ice cream often but. $5? Pricey.. Very good but pricey. read more

It's Graeter's so of course it's good. But is it great and is it Graeter's great? Something seemed to be a bit off. I've been to scoop shops often on trips to Cincinnati and still enjoy buying their pints from stores here in Chicago. But the scoop shop ice cream in Cincy is always better, fresher, softer, than the ice cream I can pick up in pints. The ice cream at this location tastes more "pint-like" and I even noticed an employee combining several pints into a larger container and moving that to the scooping line. They're also noticeable missing any shop only flavors you'd find in the scoop shops back in the Ohio area. Is this the price that's paid for moving a shop all the way out here to Chicagoland or am I just imagining that things taste better back in the Queen City? read more

Came in around 9pm on a Wednesday night (not to mention it was rainy and gross out) and the place was still busy! This was my first visit and it definitely won't be my last. My friend ordered the Cookie Dough and I got the Mocha Chocolate Chip and both were amazing. The ice cream was very smooth and creamy and I especially liked how the chocolate chips in my ice cream weren't frozen solid. The service was pretty good too. They had about 6-8 people on staff, each one serving someone. One guy saw that we had not been helped yet and immediately grabbed our attention and helped us out. Also, they give you a generous scoop for tasting and when you order. It is a bit pricey, but I don't mind dropping $5 every once and awhile. read more

I went here for the first time last weekend with my husband. I ordered the mint chocolate chip shake, and it was the best shake I have ever had. The mint is clearly fresh as it tasted unlike any other mint shake I had ever had. It's a bit pricey, but I will pay that for quality. I also love that it's across from Village Green park. I will be back! read more

Graeter's is my go-to ice cream stop! Their ice cream is definitely quality and every flavour is delicious~

I've been there a couple times. And probably it's the best ice cream I've had. It's handscrafted with amazing flavors and ingredients and I'm very impressed with it. It's not like the cheap places with the food dye and all the other chemicals they put it in it. When you first try it you know it's not like the other B.S. 5 stars all the way read more

If you go here, The simple scoops of ice cream in a cone or cup are the way to go! My girlfriend had two scoops and I ordered the banana sundae. The banana sundae wasn't the flavors of Ice Cream I asked for but I still went ahead and ate it. It was good but minimal ice cream, more toppings than the actual ice cream it self. I still would recommend this place to others, Maybe not a banana sundae though. read more

Ice cream is out of this world and the staff super friendly. Yum!! Check out the buckeye flavor. Mocha too!!
