Discovered this shop when I was visiting from AZ. What a great selection and everything was delicious. Also, I really liked the Signature Assortment and the Deluxe Box of Goodies, I had to bring those home before leaving town. I highly recommend this shop! The customer service here is really lacking. There were 2 other customers when I walked in. I was not greeted at all. There were 2 employees, one older one who was wrapping a basket, and a young one who was clearly friends with the person she was helping. I waited while she chatted with her friend for a long time, not even taking her order, or acknowledging me. The customer saw me standing there and finally told the employee to do her order because I was waiting. While the older employee was wrapping the basker her friend walked in. She was so excited to see her that she walked over to her and just started chatting. I was clearly next, but she ignored me. What was that about? The. younger employee finally helped me, but was not very friendly. I guess you have to be a friend or a regular to get good service. Even though your candy is good, the customer service is not. This is not the first time this has happened. If you go there, you have to be prepared to spend extra time while the employees and customers chit chat. No thank you. I don't take leaving negative reviews lightly, especially for local businesses, but after reading others' experiences and reflecting on mine, I feel it's important to speak up. I brought my two young kids to the shop for a fun treat, and one of the employees reacted aggressively when my two-year-old briefly touched a container--treating us as if we were completely out of line for normal, age-appropriate behavior in what should be a child-friendly environment. I followed up with a phone call to share my feedback and initially spoke with a kind, understanding employee. Unfortunately, the conversation was later followed by a call from the manager, who defensively stated they "pride themselves on great customer service" and chalked the interaction up to a "misunderstanding," with no real accountability nor customer service follow through. The whole experience felt unwelcoming and unnecessarily pretentious. There are plenty of places to buy candy where children and parents are treated with more respect and kindness. read more

I've been buying from Goodies for 25 years. We raised our family in Highland Park and we've purchased everything from individual gifts to sweet trays for holidays and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. It's been a family go to for years. They are always kind, energetic and ready with creative ideas and sweet treats. I can't recommend them enough. Years ago their trays were gold wire. I still have them and use them on the holidays. I can't recommend Goodies enough. They are also great with corporate events and holiday trays. Goodies is my go-to stop for any gift giving! They have the best variety of candy, and they do a fabulous job wrapping it so each bag or tray feels special. Their chocolate covered Oreos and s'more bars are delicious and cute, and a must for my grown kids on Valentine's Day. This year I even brought my nieces there before summer camp and they got to make tackle boxes full of candy of their choosing! The staff was helpful and engaging, and made my nieces feel comfortable. Goodies modern, efficient website had so many incredible choices; from small to large and every variety and combination of sweets one could think of, we chose the Candylicious tray. I wanted to double-check that my last minute order could be packed, shipped and delivered within 48 hours, so I called the store. (847-432-0652) One of the owners, an Angel by the name of Robin, answered my call. She not only assured me of a prompt delivery, but personally wrote a Hallmark-like birthday greeting to my daughter. Saw the recent write up for Goodies Etc in the Highland Park Landmark and stopped in this weekend for the first time. Very friendly owner, helpful staff, and delicious desserts. goodies has great candy but i won't lie my mom and I went in there and there were like 6 women behind the counter with their backs turned to us. it didn't feel very welcoming and it took us waiting around a while to be helped. one of the women went to go socialize with her friend who walked in after we'd been waiting there as patient customers. The people that work here are obviously in the wrong business!!!!! It's a candy store and you would expect a cherry happy face to be running the counter but not in this places case!!! It's a shame because everything looks very delish and even tho it is VERY overpriced but then again it is Highland Park. Don't get Me wrong, I did want to buy more then I did especially the great toffee that was sampled at the counter but when we asked a question about it being answered in a grunt just was a total turn off. This is a great go-to spot if you need a yummy corporate, teacher or hostess gift. In the heart of Highland Park, so parking is what it is...not as bad as the city, but you might have to walk a little. The chocolates are made in house so they are super fresh and tasty. If you aren't looking for a gift, you can spoil yourself with chocolate by the piece. Other candies are unique and a little different than you would find at other candy shops. Lots of fun containers and filler gifts to personalize the presentation. Locally owned, so employees are very helpful and work hard to get everything just right. Goodies is the place to go for any gift. I have bought hostess gifts, bereavement baskets, thinking of you baskets, get well baskets etc. They have something for every occasion. The baskets have a perfect presentation and you get a lot of chocolate on the tray. The staff are very helpful and have good ideas, especially if you don't know exactly what you want. If you can't make it into the store, you can order online (which I have done when sending out of the state), and it is very easy to do. It is my 'go to' place and I highly recommend it. Completely the worst customer service!! I've been there several times because the candy is actually quite good and I thought maybe the sales clerk was having a bad day. Not so!! I agree with Ellie. I find this place totally unfriendly. I have tried to patronize this place 3 times and each time I was treated in an unfriendly manner. The last time I was in this store I waited a good five minutes for someone to wait on me. I was the only one in the store yet the two ladies behind the counter ignored me. My company has been using Goodies for many years for Christmas gifts. There candy is great and I will never say a bad word about there wares. I will say that they are not pleasant to talk to. One woman called my office to talk to my secretary about our order and when I said she was not in I was practically hung up on. The 5 word card we wanted put in each of the baskets we ordered had our company name spelled wrong. One card was the complete wrong card and was in fact the card from a different company. They gave me 10% off the order (which was originally over $2,000) but the damage was done. I was very disappointed. read more

I had seen a Goodies gift basket when someone else received one. I was so impressed that I sent them out this year at Christmas. I got rave reviews for the baskets. One recipient, who receives many very nice gift baskets at Christmas, told me that the Goodies gift basket put all the other gift baskets to shame. This is now my go to place for gift baskets.
