Recently stopped by with a group of friends to get some ice cream and eat outside. I ordered a single scoop of the mocha chip in a waffle cone which was $5. I think for the price it was great ice cream. I really like how much chip they put in their ice cream compared to other places. There were many staff members and they were training some more while ringing me up. The service was alright but not as friendly as I could hope for. The ice cream was very good. The indoor seating is a nice environment and relaxing. The staff is also very nice and handled the transaction and service well. I would recommend even on a rainy day. It is a great place to hangout off campus for students that is affordable and not very far. The only downside is the parking. The lot is very small with limited parking and hard to maneuver. This review is specifically for their ice cream cake. I had been craving ice cream cake for months, and if you're into ice cream cake, you know how difficult it is to find a good one. I want a cake that's simple, with real cake and real, premium ice cream, maybe a few sprinkles on top. The majority of the garbage you'll find out on the market is simply layers of ice cream in the shape of a cake, labeled as "ice cream cake," which to me is a complete farce. And then you have a few places like Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone, which make the cake-based ice cream cakes, but with horrendous quality. And then the highest end ice cream shops usually don't do ice cream cake at all. So you see, it was quite difficult to find an ice cream cake that met my criteria, and Graeter's fit the bill. It's a very decent quality ice cream, and good cake. The Celebration cake was just perfect, with chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream instead of frosting. After the 20-minute drive home, it was in its highest form, with the cake thawed, the ice cream still frozen, and the whipped cream at room temperature. It was downright magical. It was super sweet and nearly $40 for a 9-inch cake, but it's an ice cream birthday cake, so that's to be expected. If you're in the niche market for a good quality ice cream cake, I cannot recommend Graeter's highly enough. read more

I often go into Graeter's but don't alway check in. Everyone is always so nice. Today was no different except the young lady that waited on me was so sweet and nice. She not only ask me questions like have you been here before? Which I stated yes! She then went on and explained the new flavors. We talked a little because I always get the same kind. She made a few suggestions and I did try something different. There was several people in line, she never made me feel rushed. She asked me was I apart of the rewards club. As many times as I've been in I never knew about the rewards ) which means I just missed my free birthday scoop. ) but she also informed me of the other benefits Her service in my opinion was outstanding! Graeter's is probably one of the best ice cream shop in Indy. When you are just looking for a classic good old ice cream cone, this is the place to go! There are so many ice cream places in the city right now that are following some weird ice cream fad that it is nice to just be able to walk into a store that you can just pick an ice cream flavor, add some toppings or get a delicious waffle or pretzel cone. We showed up about an hour before it closed and I was surprised to see the long line inside. With this location being so close to Butler's campus, my guess is that all the students moved in recently and they all wanted to go back to their favorite ice cream spot. The line went quickly though and I ended up getting the dark chocolate brownie flavor ice cream and my boyfriend got one of their seasonal flavors (they have a few rotating) the ice cream was delicious and the cone was even good! It was a mini waffle cone with a chocolate layer on the inside and the top is dipped in chocolate and covered in sprinkles, YUM! Parking wasn't too bad because they do have a small lot and then there is street parking but you could also park in the CVS lot behind the store. I'm really not sure why this place is called Graeter's when it should be called "Great"er's! I've been visiting this location for years because I went to school nearby and I couldn't ask for better staff or better quality ice cream. My favorites in college used to be the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip and the Chunky Chunky Hippo, but more recently I've been on a Cotton Candy w/ Sprinkles kick. Another one you should try if you're looking for a coffee experience is the Mocha Joe. Though it's not like the typical cup or cone of ice cream you would get here, the taste is incredible and the 20oz is perfect for an after dinner treat. I can't say enough about this place and though I live a bit farther away from this location than I previously did, I will always come back for more!! Wanting to show support of her writing and reviews, we all packed in and headed over for our first taste. Ohio was the first location that I was able to try Graeter's ice cream. It's an Ohio staple that's been around for 149 years as of July 21st! I wished at that time we had them in Indiana. Now, they have customers coming and going trying to beat the heat with some cool ice cream. If you see a bunch of purple colored ice cream wandering around on the tops of cones that's the famous blackberry raspberry chip. This location is a nice size with tables inside as well as benches and a few tables with umbrellas outside. They have a nice variety of flavors available. I chose the Oregon strawberry and it was good! They have pints of ice cream available as well as pint koozies to carry the ice cream home. There's a reason why they've been around for almost 150 years. They've stayed consistent with good quality ice cream and I don't see anything wrong with that! i would 2.5 star it if i could. never usually write reviews but this is more a consolidated review of the last year. this place used to be solid 4.5 stars and the staff was spot on w/ items. now, no matter when i show up the lines out the door (and they switched from multiple lines to trying it the bank way - one line "multiple" servers, which in itself is a downgrade). next; getting quality, consistent (this is key) service is unfortunately very challenging. one time perfect, next time near disaster. final straw is getting a "standard" sundae which was to go in a dine in cup, only to have my only option not to be remade in a proper take away cup, but thrown into a banana split takeaway option. sundae was not flavor requested, also realized zero hot fudge was on it. so in summary 1/2 scoop of ice cream covered in whipped cream for $7.85. throwing in the towel, not going back here - BRICS is almost equidistant the other way. read more

The staff are friendly and efficient- they have numerous souvenirs and pints/quarts of ice cream to go. There are a few benches outside and two tables - we sat outside and enjoyed ours. This location (like the others, I'm assuming) is set up like a 1950s style diner/ice cream parlor. It's a nice size ice cream shop, but I wish there was more seating. Only a few 4 top tables :/ Besides that, parking is an issue based on the location. There's only a few parking spots out front, so most park in the adjacent CVS parking lot. I recommend signing up for the "Sweet Rewards" program - it's free, and you get rewards or discounts when you rack up a certain amount of points. Also, you get free ice cream on your birthday. We stop in here a little too often but it's so good! I stopped in tonight with my niece for some cotton candy and birthday cake ice cream. I usually like to try the flavor of the month and pair it with something else (2 scoops in a bowl) but my niece knows what she likes so tonight it was simple. They offer a variety of flavors with the seasonal specials like pumpkin and peppermint being my favorite. It is definitely not a cheap ice cream shop.
