    1st Tee Honor Guard

April Memorial for My husband. The restaurant provided an amazing venue. The food was so fresh and beautifully presented. We used the sound system and had the tables decorated with flower arrangements from a local. They provided a display table which was perfect for our pictures and memorabilia of his military and professional life. The hosted bar was a wonderful complement to the buffet. The military honor guard presented the flag ceremony under a blue sky and above the greenest tee. The magic of this day was indescribable as we saluted and the sound of the 21 Gun Salute and Taps echoed over the the greens , the mountains and the Graeagle Creek. Thank you to the staff and management for a flawless delivery. If you are looking for a place of venue, this is it.

    Nice golf course

This golf course has more of a forested wilderness setting than some of the other golf courses in this area as there doesn't seem to be any housing development right on the course. The crowd here seems a little more low key casual. The dining options here are more casual as well. There is a nice restaurant with a decent menu serving breakfast you you early risers wanting to hit the links first out. Parking is easy. There's a full bar here, so if you wanna do shots after your game, then you can! The staff seemed young and friendly.

Wow, just a gorgeous course. Very well maintained. Tricky 2 tiers greens on some holes but that is ok. 1st time I played it and was solo and playing with someone with local knowledge would have helped. Can't wait to play again. I really enjoyed myself. Friendly staff too.

I have waited 16 years to finally get married and was given the green light from my fiance to have the wedding of my dreams. I searched forest wedding and Twenty Mile House was the very first one that came up. I loved that it wasn't too far of a drive away, the all inclusive packages and the accomodation option to stay on site for me and 53 of our guests. We had compared prices to similar venues but found it ridiculous that for the same price, we would only have the venue, tables and chairs at the other places. So with that, Twenty Mile House became the winner. We absolutely loved the vintage cozy look of the homes, the miles and miles of forestation leading up to and within the venue, and the most amazing staff i have ever experienced with. Both Rachel and Ashliegh were absolutely amazing! They both listened and made all of my requests come true. Some had to be compromised, but it didn't change much of my vision. Our bartender Jasper was absolutely amazing and so kind. The lights, the vibe, the music, all of the vendors... they all worked together like a well oiled machine and made every wedding planning moment up to the wedding day absolutely perfect. I'm a chill bride and solely trusted the vendors and Ashliegh on their skills and talent. I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous at times, but said yes when they said "trust us". They absolutely delivered! The cake was exactly how I'd envisioned it and was so delicious, the food was a huge hit for my husband and I and our guests (I wanted to takr home the meatballs and freeze them), the DJ was perfection, the florals were immaculate (more than what i had expected), and the photographer Rachelle was sooo kind and made our little awkward selves so comfortable. We had hired a non preferred videographer for our day but both Rachelle and Ashliegh worked well with them. Thank you Twenty Mile House for making our dream wedding a reality! We will definitely come back one day and rent one of your homes as an Air Bnb, just so we can relive a little piece of our wedding. Thank you, thank you, a million times thank you!

My sides were cool, but my steak was excellent and my husband's order was perfect. The issue is the incredibly poor service. It took over 30 mins to get our drinks, over and hour to get our meal. The table next to us mentioned that it took 45 mins to get their bottle of wine. Both tables agreed had the server communicated they were short staffed and acknowledged us during our wait it we would have felt better about the situation. We were at Longboards last week and they had just let a few employees leave early since they were not busy. Then the rush arrived. Our busboy brought us water and explained that they were a short staffed, but the server would get to us as soon as she could. Dinner took a bit longer than expected, but it was within a reasonable time frame. The one server and busboy were very attentive and our three cocktails arrived quicly each time we ordered. When paying our bill we complimented the service and noticed that the restaurant was full and there was only one server and one busboy. She mentioned that the busboy was the manager and he steps in anytime help is needed. Nakoma management needs to visit Longboards and take a lesson back home.

Their "lodge" is better described as a clean, quiet convenience hotel. I completely agree with other reviews - who thought a window in the bathroom was a good idea? My roommate used the bathroom in the night and the light woke me up! Stupid design! The pool, fitness center, and casual dining are in a building about 1 mile up the road. Unfortunately, they don't open early so the in-room Keurig coffee maker is all you have. We were there for a 2-day golf tournament played at Graeagle and Plumas Pines with a 7:30am check-in, so we had to drive to Portola to find a place for to-go breakfast and coffee. We had to double back to the golf course. Nothing in this area is close. Cars are a must, so if someone is golfing early and takes your only car, the rest of you are stranded! Up the hill further is the main lodge. The beamed ceiling room in all their photos is their restaurant. The food was very good. Local vacationers shared it is one of the two really good restaurants in the area (Iron Door is the other, btw.) Get an early reservation if you want to sit outside or at a view table. More than 1/3 of the tables don't have a view. The bar, adjacent to the pro shop in that building is tiny and has no view at all. Not much of a 19th hole! It appeared most golfers rejoin their families by the pool, where the casual dining/bar is. The pro shop for the Dragon had lots of souvenirs and men's golf merch. There was very little women's golf merch. Nakoma appears more interested in selling lots. There are a number of gates to neighborhoods that appear empty. If this area develops, they have plans for a Market on the property, but it's TBD. If you are used to mid to high end resorts, it will disappoint. If you want a clean non-rustic hotel room, this place works. All the other local options are either very rustic or vacation rentals.

It was…read moreeverything that we hoped for: a bit off the beaten path with absolutely stunning views highlighting the mountains and trees that we love so much, but close enough to Truckee to make it accessible for all of our guests. And the owners, Fred and Pam, are the kindest, most welcoming people that go above and beyond to make you feel like family and make your day perfect! We cannot thank them or recommend their property enough! We visited Mitchel's Meadows on our first day of wedding venue touring. We had multiple tours and hours of driving planned for the day and set aside about 45 minutes for our stop at Mitchel's Meadows, but ended up staying for close to 2 hours chatting with Fred as he showed us all over the property, before inviting us in for hot chocolate and homemade treats around the fireplace in their home. It was a cold November day and they had put away most things for the winter, but the magic and love for their property showed through and we knew this is where we would celebrate our day. We chose to have our ceremony on a grassy area off the back of the home (which we had access to the entire day and was where the bridal party got ready!) overlooking the meadow. This is the main ceremony area, but the owners also gave us the option to have it anywhere we choose on the property to make the day our own. Our First Look was in an aspen grove a short hike from the house (which the owners had created a path to, complete with wood crossings over marshy areas) by the Little Truckee River. Our reception area was adjacent to another meadow just up from the house. The owners have built out an ideal space with pavers and tent, string lights over an outdoor dance floor, a bar, multiple seating areas (both around the dancefloor and in the meadow!) and permanent restrooms - all included with the venue rental. We loved moving throughout the property as the day progressed and enjoying all of the different spaces. The property is truly magical and words, nor photos, can do it justice. Other amenities to highlight: In addition to access to the main house, there is also a workshop where the groomsmen got ready, multiple firepits and heat lamps to keep warm when it cools down at night, and lots of odds and ends from previous weddings to help fill out decor or save the day if something was missed or forgotten. Additionally, the owners provide a golf cart shuttle service between different points of the venue day of. And as previously stated, the tent is a great bonus. This isn't usually something that comes with a venue and is typically rented separately, but it provides a great "indoor" backup peace of mind for weather. On our wedding day, we lowered the clear flaps of the tent to keep out the wind, but the clear material still allowed us to enjoy the surroundings. Finally, the property is yours for the entire weekend; Fred & Pam only book one wedding per weekend, making coordinating rentals, setups and teardowns super easy and stress free as it does not all need to happen on the wedding day. We are absolutely thrilled with how everything turned out and the memories we made at this magical spot in the forest. Another shout out to Fred and Pam for the HUGE role that they played in it! The care they have for the property and the amount of work they put into it truly makes it special. They are beyond accommodating and immensely helpful. They take the time to get to know you and are genuinely invested in helping you make your day the memory of a lifetime.

Chris and I had the absolute pleasure of getting married at Mitchells Meadows this past weekend…read more The venue is unbelievably special and should be at the top of the list for any couple seeking a gorgeous outdoor wedding in the Tahoe area. Chris and I had looked at most venues in Tahoe and narrowed in on Mitchells Meadows for the following reasons: 1) It offers a rare combination of feeling truly remote while offering infrastructure: The venue is tucked away in the Tahoe National Forest in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, with a property featuring picturesque streams and large meadows with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Our first visit to the property took our breath away -- it offers stunning beauty and feels really off the beaten path (no cell service onsite -- which we LOVED). You have to see it for yourself to really understand. Simultaneously, however, it feels accessible -- It's only a 30 minute drive from the venue to Truckee, where there are many hotels and airbnbs for guest housing. The property itself comes equipped with key infrastructure which would typically make such a location challenging for event planning -- a tent with flooring, a dance floor under the stars, string lighting, bathrooms with a view of the mountains, a gorgeous wooden bar hand-built by the owner. 2) The owners are incredibly special people: Pam and Fred are the heart and soul of the venue. There wasn't a time when we visited the property when Pam didn't invite us up into the house to have iced tea and baked goods. Fred is known to build things custom for weddings on property and is constantly working to ensure that the space is manicured and perfectly maintained. Pam and Fred clearly love their property and work to ensure that every couple getting married there has a perfect, tailored experience. 3) No wedding at Mitchells Meadows is exactly the same: Chris and I did not want a cookie cutter wedding and we visited a number of venues that felt like "wedding mills." Mitchells Meadows is the opposite of this. Each couple can really design their personal vision -- there are a myriad of choices for ceremony location, for first look, for cocktail hour, and the space really becomes a scenic pallet for couples to create the experience of their dreams. With that said, Pam/Fred make it easy, guiding couples with best practices and offering built in infrastructure (For every guest, there will already be a tent, bar, dance floor, fire pits, and stage already available at the venue, for no additional cost). 4) There are no noise ordinances: This was actually huge for us in the decision process, as we wanted guests to be able to dance late into the night without interruption. Almost all of the venues on Lake Tahoe (if not all) have a strict noise ordinance of 10 pm. As it's fully tucked away, Mitchells Meadows allows its patrons to party with amplified music until midnight, giving much more time / flexibility around the celebration. Mitchells Meadows was such a special experience for us and enabled us to throw the most perfect mountain wedding. Our guests danced under the stars, lounged by fire pits late into the night, and marveled at the views. We've heard so much feedback that this was the most amazing venue people had ever seen. We couldn't recommend Mitchells Meadows more strongly for anyone planning a Tahoe wedding. Go and see it for yourself and you'll understand immediately.
