Most of the fairways had been plugged. Impossible to play.
Don C.

Beautiful views but we booked our tee times a week prior and when we get 6 holes in this is what the remainder of the fairways looked like. What a mess, we drive 4 hours and stayed two nights for this! How rude they should have told us when booking, teeing offer a discount or refund. What a joke. Very disappointed White Hawk!

Love this golf course my all time fav mountain course! I live in Tahoe and this is so peaceful and quiet the drive up is well worth it! Stay at the Lodge and golf have a gourmet meal it's heaven !

Pretty driving range on a beautiful golf course.

If you want to play golf in the Tahoe area, this is one of my favorite places to do it. You have to drive about 45-60 minutes from Truckee through rural farms and ranch towns, but it's worth it (must be very popular with car groups--we saw both a Porsche club and a Ferrari club driving through). Whitehawk features a combination of both wide open fairways and others with pine trees lining both sides. Both times I've played here the greens were soft, in great shape, and fair. The fairways were mostly lush and inviting. You'll find lots of babbling brooks alongside or across many of the holes, which helps make it feel very relaxing and fun. As for the facilities, there isn't really much of a clubhouse (hence the 4-star rating). There's a pro shop, a deck with tables, and a little sandwich shake (they do a very nice job, BTW). But the driving range is a gem, and incredibly scenic. Add that to a convenience practice area, and you've got a great golf destination at a reasonable price (for the area).

I first played Whitehawk Ranch over 10 years ago but made a trip back with 11 others on August 15, 2020 and everyone loved this gem. The course was in great condition and the staff in the pro shop were very friendly and accommodating. My only regret is not making the trip sooner. I highly recommend the trip to support this excellent golf course. I will definitely be heading back soon. Thank you for giving us "a little bit of normal" during this terrible pandemic and well done for making our experience so exceptional. Hoping to see you all soon. Cheers

The Whitehawk Ranch Golf Course was in a magnificent, wooded mountain setting. The views were stunning and the course was absolutely beautiful. The course and facilities were perfectly maintained. The fairways and greens were pristine. The greens were receptive, smooth, moderately fast and had very interesting contours. Overall, the course was challenging but not overly intimidating. They have a nice practice facility, clubhouse and a proshop. The staff were all friendly and efficient, from the head pro to the lunch shack and bag handlers. The "Golf Made Simple" program (See their web site) was a very different approach. It demystifies a sport which has traditionally been taught in an overly complicated fashion. The mornings consisted of about 4 hours of teaching and drills. We were provided a nice breakfast and lunch and our pro ate lunch with us. The afternoon was a 9 hole playing lesson with the same pro. The second and third mornings we reviewed our individual videos before we started. We spent the three days with a PGA pro, Cody Vukovich. He was wonderful. He was very patient, calming and knowledgeable.

It's a beautiful spot, and you might even spot some deer wandering by as you play. The Lake House is the perfect place to relax afterward. The bartenders, Shelby and Bri, serve up a solid selection of drinks with a smile. I was also impressed by their ready-to-go buffalo chicken wrap, for a premade item, it was surprisingly delicious and perfect for a quick bite before a full meal. Don't miss their smoked tri-tip and brisket, both cooked in-house and packed with flavor. The food and drink are all reasonably priced for the quality you get. Grizzly Ranch is more than just a golf course--it's a peaceful retreat with great food, drinks, and service. You never know you might even see a family of deer on your way out of the course! As a fan of wildlife it was a sight to see. Highly recommend it!

The issue is the incredibly poor service. It took over 30 mins to get our drinks, over and hour to get our meal. The table next to us mentioned that it took 45 mins to get their bottle of wine. Both tables agreed had the server communicated they were short staffed and acknowledged us during our wait it we would have felt better about the situation. We were at Longboards last week and they had just let a few employees leave early since they were not busy. Then the rush arrived. Our busboy brought us water and explained that they were a short staffed, but the server would get to us as soon as she could. Dinner took a bit longer than expected, but it was within a reasonable time frame. The one server and busboy were very attentive and our three cocktails arrived quicly each time we ordered. When paying our bill we complimented the service and noticed that the restaurant was full and there was only one server and one busboy. She mentioned that the busboy was the manager and he steps in anytime help is needed. Nakoma management needs to visit Longboards and take a lesson back home.

On our way up to the area we learned that the client we were working for was postponing by two weeks. So, upon check in I notified the front desk that we would only be staying the one night. Since we were over 24 hours until day two I expected to be charged only the one night. No Sir. They charged the full bill as if we stayed two nights. The front desk employees are not empowered to make decisions here so I asked to see the manager. She was off of course...for two days. Nobody could help me for two days. Finally after several calls the manager (Carrol Martinelli) worked up the courage to call me back. She would not budge and refund the one night and said that is their policy. This place is clearly hurting for business. Many of the rooms were not sold during our stay and this is in the middle of the summer. That I was able to get two rooms on such short notice should have told me there are issues with this resort. I don't understand how companies that do business like this expect to stay in business. I will not be booking business travel here, nor will I consider staying here with my family, though I would have come back otherwise. Please book your travel reservations with a different resort. This one does not value its customers. They are petty every chance they get.
