Just wow! We could not have imagined having our wedding in a more perfect location. It was everything that we hoped for: a bit off the beaten path with absolutely stunning views highlighting the mountains and trees that we love so much, but close enough to Truckee to make it accessible for all of our guests. And the owners, Fred and Pam, are the kindest, most welcoming people that go above and beyond to make you feel like family and make your day perfect! We cannot thank them or recommend their property enough! We visited Mitchel's Meadows on our first day of wedding venue touring. We had multiple tours and hours of driving planned for the day and set aside about 45 minutes for our stop at Mitchel's Meadows, but ended up staying for close to 2 hours chatting with Fred as he showed us all over the property, before inviting us in for hot chocolate and homemade treats around the fireplace in their home. It was a cold November day and they had put away most things for the winter, but the magic and love for their property showed through and we knew this is where we would celebrate our day. We chose to have our ceremony on a grassy area off the back of the home (which we had access to the entire day and was where the bridal party got ready!) overlooking the meadow. This is the main ceremony area, but the owners also gave us the option to have it anywhere we choose on the property to make the day our own. Our First Look was in an aspen grove a short hike from the house (which the owners had created a path to, complete with wood crossings over marshy areas) by the Little Truckee River. Our reception area was adjacent to another meadow just up from the house. The owners have built out an ideal space with pavers and tent, string lights over an outdoor dance floor, a bar, multiple seating areas (both around the dancefloor and in the meadow!) and permanent restrooms - all included with the venue rental. We loved moving throughout the property as the day progressed and enjoying all of the different spaces. The property is truly magical and words, nor photos, can do it justice. Other amenities to highlight: In addition to access to the main house, there is also a workshop where the groomsmen got ready, multiple firepits and heat lamps to keep warm when it cools down at night, and lots of odds and ends from previous weddings to help fill out decor or save the day if something was missed or forgotten. Additionally, the owners provide a golf cart shuttle service between different points of the venue day of. And as previously stated, the tent is a great bonus. This isn't usually something that comes with a venue and is typically rented separately, but it provides a great "indoor" backup peace of mind for weather. On our wedding day, we lowered the clear flaps of the tent to keep out the wind, but the clear material still allowed us to enjoy the surroundings. Finally, the property is yours for the entire weekend; Fred & Pam only book one wedding per weekend, making coordinating rentals, setups and teardowns super easy and stress free as it does not all need to happen on the wedding day. We are absolutely thrilled with how everything turned out and the memories we made at this magical spot in the forest. Another shout out to Fred and Pam for the HUGE role that they played in it! The care they have for the property and the amount of work they put into it truly makes it special. They are beyond accommodating and immensely helpful. Chris and I had the absolute pleasure of getting married at Mitchells Meadows this past weekend. The venue is unbelievably special and should be at the top of the list for any couple seeking a gorgeous outdoor wedding in the Tahoe area. Chris and I had looked at most venues in Tahoe and narrowed in on Mitchells Meadows for the following reasons: 1) It offers a rare combination of feeling truly remote while offering infrastructure: The venue is tucked away in the Tahoe National Forest in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, with a property featuring picturesque streams and large meadows with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Our first visit to the property took our breath away -- it offers stunning beauty and feels really off the beaten path (no cell service onsite -- which we LOVED). You have to see it for yourself to really understand. Simultaneously, however, it feels accessible -- It's only a 30 minute drive from the venue to Truckee, where there are many hotels and airbnbs for guest housing. The property itself comes equipped with key infrastructure which would typically make such a location challenging for event planning -- a tent with flooring, a dance floor under the stars, string lighting, bathrooms with a view of the mountains, a gorgeous wooden bar hand-built by the owner. 2) The owners are incredibly special people: Pam and Fred are the heart and soul of the venue. There wasn't a time when we visited the property when Pam didn't invite us up into the house to have iced tea and baked goods. Fred is known to build things custom for weddings on property and is constantly working to ensure that the space is manicured and perfectly maintained. Pam and Fred clearly love their property and work to ensure that every couple getting married there has a perfect, tailored experience. 3) No wedding at Mitchells Meadows is exactly the same: Chris and I did not want a cookie cutter wedding and we visited a number of venues that felt like "wedding mills." Mitchells Meadows is the opposite of this. Each couple can really design their personal vision -- there are a myriad of choices for ceremony location, for first look, for cocktail hour, and the space really becomes a scenic pallet for couples to create the experience of their dreams. With that said, Pam/Fred make it easy, guiding couples with best practices and offering built in infrastructure (For every guest, there will already be a tent, bar, dance floor, fire pits, and stage already available at the venue, for no additional cost). 4) There are no noise ordinances: This was actually huge for us in the decision process, as we wanted guests to be able to dance late into the night without interruption. Almost all of the venues on Lake Tahoe (if not all) have a strict noise ordinance of 10 pm. As it's fully tucked away, Mitchells Meadows allows its patrons to party with amplified music until midnight, giving much more time / flexibility around the celebration. Mitchells Meadows was such a special experience for us and enabled us to throw the most perfect mountain wedding. Our guests danced under the stars, lounged by fire pits late into the night, and marveled at the views. We've heard so much feedback that this was the most amazing venue people had ever seen. We couldn't recommend Mitchells Meadows more strongly for anyone planning a Tahoe wedding. Go and see it for yourself and you'll understand immediately. read more

Our daughter and son-in-law got married at Mitchells Mountain Meadows in mid July of this year. We can not find the words to express just how PERFECT our experience was at this INCREDIBLE VENUE! Between the beautiful and breath-taking views, the wealth of knowledge and experience Pam and Fred have had putting on weddings, and the personalized touches throughout every inch of the property, I can honestly say there isn't a single thing I would change. Pam and Fred were beyond helpful, kind, hard working, welcoming, and supportive from beginning to end. They were quick to respond to any questions or requests that we had and were very willing to do anything that we needed them to do. I honestly don't know how they do it!!! One perfect example of this is that we asked if it would be possible to put two hummingbird feeders on the property a month before the wedding. My parents passed a few years ago and hummingbirds have been our connection to them. Pam was not only willing to have them on the property, but she filled the feeders regularly and shared several touching stories about the hummingbirds' visits. The day of the wedding our hummingbirds were there with us to share in the special day! It was so touching! Pam and Fred are one in a million and we hope to keep in touch with them in the years to come. We will certainly come back and visit! Since the wedding we have had so many friends and family comment to us that our daughter and son-in-law's wedding was the most beautiful wedding that they have ever attended. We would have to agree with them. If you are looking for a private, stunning, outdoor venue in the mountains, you have found your place! We do recommend renting shuttles from Northstar Transportation. It made life safer and easier for everyone! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Our wedding was in August 2015. We had wanted a venue that was out in nature. Our vision was to be in the middle of a forest surrounded by music and loved ones having a celebration of our union. It ended up being an adventure of love that lasted the whole weekend long. That was our favorite part of this venue...we could rent it out the whole weekend and not break the bank! The moment we went to look at the land and speak to the owners, Pam and Fred, I knew that there wasn't a need to look any further. There aren't many other options around town that offer what this venue does so I jumped on the chance to book them. We wanted a hands on wedding where we decided what it would look like from the ceremony to celebration. Pam and Fred were so supportive through our process that they never wanted to interfere with any ideas we had. Only offered suggestions to encourage our vision.The level of communication they offered was what really made them the heart of this experience for us. So much that they were invited to our wedding. When we searched for a venue we wanted certain freedoms. This venue offered us the chance to celebrate without worrying about time, space, and noise restrictions. We had music going on til 4am, dancing under the stars! The venue is further from town with the last mile being a dirt road. Our guests came from all over. No problems finding places to stay as well as driving to the location. We also hired a shuttle to take guests to and from the wedding so that dirt road was easy enough for anyone to drive on. All our vendors (food, equipment and shuttle) were able to drive to our locations with ease. Pam and Fred offer great suggestions if you need vendors. Since we rented this place for the whole weekend then we wanted to take advantage of it. We held a BBQ the day before and after the wedding. This gave us time to set up and break down our decorations, equipment rental as well as make any last minute adjustments. We invited our guests to help out and in return had a BBQ with games. It gave our guests a chance to really get to know each other. Our family and friends said that having all that time really gave them an opportunity to connect and by the end feel like one big family. It is hard to express everything I want without writing a novel. We worked very hard to create a ceremony and celebration that expressed our union. We fumbled on some stuff but hit the mark when we picked this venue to have it at. The only bummer was thinking we should have held the ceremony in the evening versus afternoon. Night time came to quickly!! I would have held the ceremony earlier to take advantage of taking my time as the bride to relax into the celebration and sit back to enjoy the breath taking land we were dancing on. My husband and I are already thinking of renting the space again to have an anniversary party! Mostly I want to be best friends with Pam and Fred. We had our daughter and son-in-laws wedding a couple weeks ago at Mitchells Mountain Meadows. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The venue is absolutely breathtaking and the owners, Pam and Fred, are top notch! They are wonderful at communication throughout the process. They are very hands on for the big day. I was in awe of their ability to make it all happen so smoothly. There are so many special touches throughout the property that make it like no other we have seen. The property is huge with so many different areas to choose from for the big day. The views in every direction look unreal they are so beautiful. I can't say enough good things about Fred and Pam Mitchell and their beautiful property. My new husband and I got married at MMM on Sept 12 of this year. Fred and Pam were incredibly helpful, gracious, and accommodating--traits that are rarely used to describe wedding venue hosts. We were coming from out of town. We didn't know the area well nor did we know what to expect. It's not like weddings happen very frequently! :) Not only did this wonderful couple provide much-needed advice and assistance before the wedding, but they really stepped up on the day of to help out wherever needed...whether it was with the flowers, lights, cleaning, moving stuff around, etc. These guys are truly professionals and just all around good people. If you do decide to get married here (and that would be a wise choice), your wedding will be in the best hands possible. Now to the beauty and charm of the property. Where do I even begin?? This venue is off-the-charts beautiful no matter the season. There are multiple areas from which you can choose to hold your ceremony and reception. It's landscaped where it needs to be landscaped, but Fred did an amazing job at keeping the rustic charm of the surrounding woods intact, really allowing the natural beauty to shine through. The cabin is cute and perfect for getting ready. My bridesmaids and I were very comfortable there while we were getting our hair and makeup done. The boys used the basement below the cabin, which worked well for them. All of our guests were amazed at how stunning everything was. It is truly a magical place! And to top it all off, the venue was by far the best value for what they offer. I love LOVE Fred and Pam and MMM for their huge help in making my wedding stress free, memorable, and beautiful! Just a few things to know before booking: 1. there is only one spot on the property where cell service is available and it's a bit of a trek to get to. Be prepared for dead silence while you're there. Planning ahead is crucial bc if you forget something (like I did) it's not likely that you'll be able to reach anyone back in town. 2. The venue is very remote...about 25 minutes from downtown Truckee on a dirt road in the middle of what feels like nowhere. It was perfect for us, but some folks may not be into that. read more

Their property is gorgeous and has so many different areas for guests to enjoy. The possibilities for customizing your event are endless. Having access to the property on Friday and Sunday was extremely helpful. They are always improving the space and everything from the tent to the bathrooms are really high quality. Guests loved getting to explore the fire pits, game area, and stargazing area. We booked the venue almost two years before the wedding, but Pam and Fred always had time to answer our questions via email or have us visit the site to help with planning. We got married at Mitchells Mountain Meadows in August 2016, and it was such an incredible event. Fred and Pam immediately welcomed us like family and did everything they could to make our wedding weekend perfect. It was surprisingly cool the night of our wedding, so Fred drove to Reno at the last minute to stock up on fuel for all of the heating lamps, and both Fred and Pam were constantly walking around during the event to make sure everything was going smoothly. Our guests raved about the beautiful venue, especially the star gazing field. It was such a unique atmosphere that people still talk about it. Our wedding here was absolutely perfect and Fred & Pam were a large part of making that happen. We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding and couldn't find the right outdoor space on the lake - something private that also allowed flexibility. Immediately when we toured this place (albeit soon after snowmelt, before they had done any landscaping for wedding season) we knew it was where we wanted to celebrate. I can't describe how beautiful their property is. The views from every angle are stunning and they have put so much care into making it a natural feeling but still curated space. We did shuttle everyone in from Tahoe City and used vendors that had been there before due to the remoteness but otherwise the logistical considerations were easy. We also loved that the day was fully customizable and wasn't a pre-packaged timeline like at many high volume venues. My husband and I got married at MMM in early September. I cannot rave about this place enough. When I was searching for wedding venues, I felt like a lot of places wanted to limit all the parts of a wedding that could be FUN (like, ending the party at 10 pm) or force me to bundle everything in at high prices (alcohol, silverware, food, whatever). Fred and Pam are the absolute opposite of that wedding venue stereotype. They seem to genuinely like helping people make their vision happen, and they pretty much never required us to do anything any particular way. You can bring in your own alcohol, use whatever catering you want (or, if you are really enterprising/crazy like us, you can cook the food yourself), and set up the space however you want. Other than telling us (in advance) that we had to turn off loud music at midnight and that candles had to be enclosed in something, Fred and Pam set no limitations. We stayed up very late, and when Fred came over at like 2 in the morning, I was sure he was about to tell us to go home! But he just offered us more wood for the fires he had made! They are the most accommodating hosts you could imagine. Pam even made my centerpieces for me when I ran out of time! The place is absolutely beautiful. There are several meadows you can use for your ceremony and pictures, and then there is a mulched area with a dance floor, bar, and bathrooms for your reception. They've also set up a stargazing area and some campfires. With the lights from the fires and candles and little lights that Fred and Pam put up for you, it was truly magical. The only drawback, I guess, is that it's a little bit of a drive from Truckee (you should definitely rent buses, which cost a few thousand dollars, because it's easy to get lost). But nobody really minded the half an hour or so ride out to the venue, especially since it means you have a lot of privacy when you get there. So, in summary, pick MMM! It's stunning, private, reasonably priced, and customizable for whatever you want to do. They book up fast, but if you can get in here, you should :) read more

We chose this spot nestled outside of Truckee for our summer wedding venue and it was amazing! Fred and Pam are fantastic hosts and their beautiful property make for a perfect outdoor wedding for those looking to be settled in the mountains and surrounded by nature! Aside from personally maintaining a gorgeous venue, the couple is incredible responsive and helpful throughout the wedding planning process. They were around the entire weekend of our wedding to assist guests and vendor staff with whatever was needed, and they always made sure any lose ends were covered (a HUGE stress reliever!). Not only that, but Fred and Pam open up their entire home and property to you, making you feel truly apart of their life as well.
