There's no personal contact except for a couple of zooms. She doesn't like it when you try to talk to her on the phone and makes you feel like you're bothering her. A very frustrating way to plan a destination wedding. Instead of running our 100,000. 135 person wedding on the actual day of...our planner Taylor Lorz was only there briefly in the beginning, then left and handed it over to her assistant. If you are getting married or planning an event in the Tahoe Basin / Northern California area, you should not think twice about hiring Taylor and the Summit Soiree team. We got married at Palisades Tahoe in September 2022 and our wedding + vision was brought to life thanks to Taylor. In May, 2022 (less than four months before our wedding), the wedding planner that we had hired was unable to fulfill their duties due to some extenuating circumstances. We reached out to our DJ, Isaac at Music In Tahoe, and asked him for any referrals - which is how we were introduced to Taylor. Taylor ended up being the wedding planner that we didn't know we needed! She immediately instilled a sense of calm and control, and was eager to jump into our wedding, mid-plans, and pick up the pieces. Taylor's documentation and communication were all extremely organized, timely, and concise. Her wedding planning expertise made it so much easier for us to just think about getting married. Taylor helped us plan the reception details (like linens and chargers), coordinated delivery from her rolodex of vendors, planned out the to-the-minute schedule for the day of the wedding, made sure all of our vendors were on the same page, and was in constant communication with the venue. The week and days leading up to the wedding were where Taylor really shined. Our ceremony and reception were planned to be on the top of the mountain at High Camp, but due to the variable conditions of the nearby Mosquito Fire, the events had to be moved to the backup venue near the Village. On the day of the wedding, the weather cleared up long enough for us to move the ceremony back to High Camp - which required a lot of last minute coordination with all of the vendors. All of this was done effortlessly and with grace. Taylor also delivered on a number of tasks that don't show up anywhere in the contract - she procured a bowtie for the groom on less than 24 hours notice, she personally filled our glasses with champagne at the reception, and took pre-wedding planning calls with us while she was overseas on vacation. Oh my, how can I properly thank the Summit Soiree Wedding team for the amazing job they did for my wedding!!! My husband and I got married at Edgewood Tahoe in August 2013, and had THE BEST experience working with Heather and Bonnie! Living in Los Angeles, and it being a destination wedding for us, Heather and Bonnie were very flexible to meet when we made trips up to Lake Tahoe. They were very organized and professional, but also so much fun to work with! They shared the smiles and excitement, as I was in my "bridal bliss" phase. They were calm, yet focused. They had a wedding timeline and checklist which was mapped out month to month and then week to week at the end which was very helpful to make sure my husband and I were on the right track and up to date with our wedding goals. Summit Soiree allowed us to ship my handmade wedding wagon from Oregon (which my 9 month old niece came down the aisle in) to their office and they proceeded to put it together for us. They helped organize my wedding party of 25 (with parents) the morning (8am) before our wedding at Edgewood to make sure everyone was lined up correctly for our ceremony and to go through the correct timing. Afterwards, Heather and Bonnie sat with my mom and I for an hour going over where we wanted different things placed in the reception and at our venue. They did a great job of contacting and communicating with all of our other vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page for our BIG DAY! I forgot my Vera Wang toasting champagne glasses and remembered the day before my wedding! I was worried and very disappointed but Bonnie came to the rescue! She drove to Reno to purchase another set that was almost identical to my original toasting glasses. I was beyond pleased! The day of my wedding, Heather and Bonnie were very helpful. They checked on my bridesmaids and I in the bridal room and helped with anything we needed (mostly for me to stay calm!!) haha. First of let me say my wedding day was perfect. I did not lift a finger the day of the wedding and having the wedding coordinators there allowed me to relax and enjoy the day and not worry about anything. The wedding coordinators had the timing and details planned out very well, and I couldn't have asked for anything else on my wedding day. There were a couple of issues leading up to the wedding day that need to be mentioned however. First off, the wedding coordinators did not carefully consider my budget. Not once did they discuss my budget restrictions with me (or at my meetings with the vendors we had together) or let me know something I wanted was unrealistic or alternatives for what I wanted. Rather, they would provide me with quotes, very close to the wedding date (one vendor informed me she had provided a quote to the coordinators for my review more than a month prior), that were twice as much as the budget (a budget they helped create). At that point I had to cut a lot of things and had no time to look for other vendors that perhaps would have been able to work within my budget. Even with cutting a lot of things, we ended up going much more over the budget that my husband and I wanted to. Another issue I had was that the coordinators didn't seem to have a good system of keeping track of my decisions among one another and I had to repeat myself twice with pretty much every decisions when talking to the planners. My wedding day was perfect, but there were stressful bumps along the way. For those with a more flexible budget perhaps, Summit Soiree is perfect as they have the means and creativity to execute your vision. read more

I just had my wedding in Incline Village in North Lake Tahoe. Heather was our fabulous wedding planner and I can't really say in words how lucky I was to have her. Not only was my wedding perfect (really...we had no mishaps) but it was well organized and coordinated and I had very little to worry about. The really amazing part is that Heather has probably the calmest, most low key personality in the world. It's very natural for her; nothing unsettles her. Summit Soiree is amazing. If you're wondering whether or not to hire them as your wedding planners for your Tahoe wedding, just go ahead and do it. You won't regret it. Here are a few reasons: 1. When the unexpected happens, they will definitely have your back! When our venue tried to change the stage set up around on us the day before the wedding, Heather and Kyleigh professionally and kindly helped us keep it the way we had planned (which was in the contract). The way the venue wanted us to set up would have had a negative impact on the flow and layout of the party, and it would have made the dance floor harder to get to and the sound harder to hear, so their willingness to help us stand our ground was HUGE in terms of helping us have the kind of party we wanted-- and their support was so key on that stressful day before the wedding! 2. They will support you every step of the way-- even with the partial package. We worked mainly with Heather at first, and then with both Heather and Kyleigh, for nearly a year. In fact, we're from the bay area and weren't even sure we wanted our wedding to be in Tahoe initially, but Heather was so friendly and helpful that we actually became set on Tahoe after deciding we absolutely wanted to work with her and her team. It was a great choice! From the get-go, they were great listeners, and supported us immensely. We did much of the initial planning, but they were there as a reference every step of the way, and they were always very responsive and helpful! When the wedding was about two months away, they pretty much took over and were awesome about contacting us, helping us narrow decisions down, and listening to me over so many phone calls, as well as looking at my many (too many!) pinterest boards with so much patience. They were able to hear me when I was struggling to explain a vision I had, and turn that vision into a reality. 3. They will save you money There were a number of significant fees that were waived because they so frequently work with vendors and rental companies, which really adds up! 4. They know who's who in Tahoe, and they will help you sort out which vendors to go with. We also found that those vendors know and love working with Summit Soiree, so they're happy to reserve your wedding date and would always say things like, "Oh, you're working with Summit Soiree? They're the best. You're in good hands." Every vendor they recommended far exceeded our expectations! They all turned out to be spectacular-- I can't tell you how many people have raved to us about the band, the food, the cake, the venue, everything-- and without Summit Soiree, we wouldn't have even known where to start. They are true gems to work with, and they made our wedding the most special, beautiful day we could have ever asked for. 5. They are kind of like wedding therapists... Ok, so I'm not saying you should call them every time you feel stressed about your wedding (please don't!), but I can't tell you how incredibly reassuring it was to have them there, fielding my overly-lengthy wedding-stress emails, and having them there to help me clarify what steps to take when, and how to go about making all the little details I had thought about (or hadn't yet thought about) become part of one big, cohesive picture. When we did a site visit to our venue in the winter and it looked rather drab (it was a garden venue in the winter.. I should know better, but I was worried!), Heather met with us and talked us through various options, including finding out if another venue we had originally liked still had availability. We ended up going with that garden venue, and it was gorgeous in the summer-- especially because they have such an amazing eye for detail. It was absolutely beautiful! But the main point here is just that she heard me out, talked us through our options, and then assured me everything would be ok. And it was way more than ok! 6. They'll meet you where you're at Weddings really bring out the emotions (and last-minute mind-changing) in people, and I was no exception. Although we said we did not want a cake for about 9 months, we changed our minds about 3 weeks before when we found a certain cake recipe online. Long story short, Kyleigh took it in stride, and found us the most amazing baker with about two weeks to spare-- and she pulled off an even better version of the recipe, and made the most delicious cake we have ever had! I'm not saying I recommend this strategy, but I appreciated not only their willingness to work with me on my crazy wedding last-minute ideas, but also their incredible ability to execute those ideas so well! I obviously can't say enough good things about Heather and Kyleigh (and Ashley, their intern who helped us out a great deal on our wedding weekend!). They are truly fabulous and if we could do it all again, we literally wouldn't change a thing, because they made everything absolutely perfect. I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude for Laura and Heather at Summit Soiree! I am a simple person who didn't want my wedding to be complicated with planners and everything. I thought I could just do it all myself....... boy was I wrong! As my wedding day came closer and closer I realized I should go ahead and get a planner because I was becoming stressed. That was the single best decision I made. After talking with Heather on the phone, I was relaxed. I didn't feel tense or nervous that I would forget something really important. Their are a lot of very small details that go into planning a wedding and I am not the most detail oriented person! In fact, even if I was, I don't think I could have had as perfect of a day without them. My husband is in the film business and he compared it to having a production, if you are going to spend all this money on an event/production you need to have a production -stage manager making sure everybody is doing what their supposed to.
