First of all, this was one of the best meals of my life. Seriously. I still can't believe we stumbled upon it. I had called several restaurants trying to find a place where we could bring our pup and offered a covered outdoor patio since it was raining. After an hour of searching and calls, the idea of sitting down for a decent meal with a one yr old Golden wasn't looking too good and I began dreading another trip to Ingles. When we found Gracious Plates online I called to double check the acceptance of a pup and made reservations. The outside table was ready for us when we arrived which caught me off guard. Now, about the food. Let me start with saying every bite was bursting with flavor. I had shrimp and grits. This was not JUST shrimp and grits. It had sausage, capers, peppers and God knows what else. The grit cake melted in your mouth. I've only had shrimp and grits once in New Orleans at a restaurant called Le Petit Grocery. It was fantastic, but this version, here in little Franklin, NC was even better. My partner ordered the pork tenderloin which I stole a bite. Crazy good! Who cooks like this? The mushroom, sesame, soy potsticker appetizer was recommended by our lovely server Kim. Neither of us knew what a potsticker was but if Kim recommended it we were going to get it. Of course, they we're interesting and delicious and we knew after the first bite that we were in a for a real treat when the main course arrived. The outside table was comfy and our pup was quiet and happy. We tried to sit down at a restaurant last week in Asheville and a couple cute dogs weren't happy and scared the dickens out of us and our pup so we never made It to our table because we had to run out. Oh well. Needless to say, pup being comfy was a bonus. We met a lovely couple from the AT who were resting for a couple days. They certainly seemed to enjoy their steaks. Oh, we each had a beer but the craft cocktails looked amazing. Next time I'll order one of those. We live in Fl, but have a home in Whittier so there will be many next times with this little gem. Excellent all the way around!! Food, service & atmosphere. Second time there. It was just as good the first time!

Food was good, portions were a little large for lunch and a bit too pricey for lunch. We had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes (could have used more potatoes) and a small salad - $25.00 Service was excellent! Ambiance is great for the space they have. read more

I come to Franklin ONLY to eat at Gracious Plates. Nothing outdoes their pressed sandwiches. My personal favorite is "Happy Trails" for $11 (Smoked Turkey Breast, Melted Brie, Mixed Greens with a Fig Jam on Little Cove Focaccia Bread) YUM. read more

OMG! Fried green tomatoes were amazing!!! Had smoked trout and flat iron steak sandwich. Truly amazing venue!!!!

Food and service was very good. Only thing I didn't care for the method of payment using the hand held payment method and minimum tip 18%.

The food was delicious from appetizers (crab fritters and best burrata ever) to entree. Entrees tried by our group were burger, mushroom cheese steak, Ribeye cheesecake and clam chowder. All were tasty and worth re-ordering. The friendliness of the all staff was beyond expectations. Service was exemplary. All in our group would drive the 2 hours to eat here again. Thank you for a delicious meal! read more

I visited this wonderful gem of a restaurant while staying in Franklin for a few days. We were seated in a large booth. Our server, Shelby, was fantastic. She intuited every single need and was very kind with the two kids at the table. Example, her tone with the two young girls was playful. And at one point, I had run out of soda in my glass and as I set it down from my last sip, Shelby brought a brand new glass without saying a word. It was 5 star service. Give that girl a raise!! I ordered the buttered salmon. No lies, it was the second best fish of my life, and it was a close second. The best fish I've ever had was on an Alaskan cruise so of course it's at the top of the list. When the fish are cooked so shortly after being caught the taste is immaculate. The fish here was no exception. The chef just made it even better with the buttering process and how they are cooked. There wasn't necessarily anything special about the ambiance but that didn't really matter much to me because I was there for the food and the company more than anything. I can't wait to come back and visit again! read more

We came across this wonderful place looking for a restaurant. Neither of us are big eaters, and were happy to see a great variety of small plates. We ordered scallops, fried green tomatoes, stuffed portobella, and shoestring potatoes. Everything was was hot and delicious. Just the right amount of spice. Service was prompt and Victoria was very nice. Great dinner! We will go back before we leave Franklin. read more

This meal was the highlight of our weekend visit to Franklin. We travel and dine out quite a bit and aren't super easy to please. We were honestly blown away by the quality and flavors of the food. Everything we ordered was delicious. The surprise star of the meal was the flatbread with olives. Didn't expect that but it was the best flatbread we've ever had. We were full after our entrees but got dessert to go because we didn't want the meal to end Lemon cake was on point and flourless chocolate torte was like a delicious truffle. Great ending to a meal we'll remember for a while. Our female server was outstanding, knowing just when to check on us and bringing drink refills without being asked. The place was understandably busy on a Sat. Night, so reservations are a good idea. We'll be back to this gem! read more

OMG! The best steak I have ever eaten. We are strict carnivores and it's hard to find a restaurant with this great quality. Will definitely be back when in the area. read more

What a wonderful choice to have downtown. Upscale service, a wonderful variety of foods capitalizing on local produce and meats. A mountain treasure where time stands still for a true meal enjoyment. Matthew was our exceptionally informed waiter on local farming. We followed his recommendations and very satisfied we did . We made our meal a selection of small plates (tapas) of lamb meatballs, shrimp with honey, and one of those salads bursting with freshness. A cheesecake slice to go capped off one of the best dinners we have had in Franklin. Also note the hours online are incorrect, restaurant is open till 9p. read more

Amazing food and service. Gracious Plates is definitely the best restaurant in Franklin.

The food was amazing . The staff and were a bit snobbish for me. I would eat there again though.

Food was very good. Service was good if you don't mind the constant selling by staff on the lemon cake dessert. I found it annoying. Portions were below average in size. First restaurant I've been to that brought ketchup to the table in a shot glass size cup. Rationing?! I think I would go elsewhere in Franklin for lunch. read more

This place is in a very lowkey town in NC but it is full of flavor! Got the fried shrimp with shoestring french fries and every bite was full of deliciousness. My wife and I can in for brunch on Sunday. We had to wait 30 minutes which wasn't bad. We ordered our meals but were not able to get the grit cake like we wanted because they were out. I ordered the Smoked trout sandwich and my wife ordered the burger. We waited over 25 minutes for our meals. We did notice that our meals were coming out but those people came in before us. The staff was very friendly and did check in on us a couple of times. We were received our meals the bacon my wife's burger was over cooked and was not eatable. The waitress went and replaced the bacon with fresh. She also had home fries on her plate when the menu had shoestring fries listed on it. When she questioned one of the other waitress about the fries she said that they do not serve them during Brunch. We actually noticed the fries on previous plates that came out before ours. When our original waitress came back, we ask her the same question. She said that they possibly ran out of shoe string fries. After this my wife took a bite of her burger and said somethings not right with this burger. She asked me to take a bottle of it. I found the burger to be very tough and lacking and flavor. It was so tough that it was hard to chew. She ended up only eating a quarter of the burger. The trout sandwich that I ordered was good however, the smoked trout seem more like salmon. It was very very pink and didn't resemble the texture of trout at all. By this time, we were so dejected and ready to leave we already put in an hour and a half in this restaurant and we were done not having a meal that either one of us was satisfied with. We told the waitress that this was possibly the worst meal that we've had there which we have been there several times And it's been hot or cold but never really great. The waitress Sam let me go get the manager and I said no we ordered this food will pay for it. Just pass it along that it was not that great. Unless something changes or it goes for a while, we will probably not be returning to this restaurant for a good while. Hopefully they will take this feedback and use it. I want to see local restaurants thrive but as of right now would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Food was AMAZING. Waitress was about as attentive as a brick. Checked on us 3 times in an hour and a half. They were not busy enough for it to take that long. When i asked her if she would check on our food I got attitude. The table next to us had a different waiter, same amount of guests, and got all of their food, apps, desserts, and check. by the time our food was coming out. It is such a shame the food was so good i have to give you 3 stars. 10/10 Would NOT recommend our server. Would 100% recommend the food. read more
