We stopped in at Cornucopia after spending a morning checking in Cashiers during our Highlands place. This place is a bit of an institution and you can see why - they have a menu that has plenty of great things to choose from and their dining hall is pretty impressive and I can only imagine is quite popular for happy hours, sporting events, or just any meal during peak tourist season. I opted for the Arabian Club, essentially their take on a club sandwich in a pita and our son loved his Oktoberfest Pretzel. There was plenty of seating for our large group and the service was great and overly friendly. Definitely plan to stop in again next time we are back this way, maybe even to sip on a few drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

As we got into Cashiers during lunch time & were looking for an open place to have lunch with my family we picked the open patio in Cashiers at Corbucopia. The atmosphere was welcoming & big open space. Weather was warm with a slight breeze so enjoyed the sun in the open patio. The food was fresh & servers were good. Stumbled upon this nice casual lunch spot which is obviously a local favorite by the big turnout on a Monday. Open air porch seating is unique and creates a nice vibe. We enjoyed the dog friendly area with our kids and our doodle. Sandwiches and salads were first rate. The black bean burger was excellent and satisfying for our vegan, piled high with avocado, tomato and sprouts. Service was excellent and attentive. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Cashiers. Apparently, it's the favorite of lots of other folks, too! During season, there can be a line. Their sandwiches are delicious, and are always fresh. If we are anywhere near, we'll be stopping at Cornucopia. They seem to have plenty of parking, though you might sometimes have to search a bit for a spot during the busy times. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the restaurant has an open feel that makes you feel comfortable. I think you'll like eating here. read more

We ate here for lunch today. They were very busy so we had about a 15 min. wait. The waiting area is limited. This a unique large open pavilion restaurant. We ate out on the deck outside the main seating area. The weather was nice, so not bad. The food was good. We had sandwiches that were on pita bread. My wife had the meatless sandwich and I had the Arabian, (turkey, bacon, tomatoes, sprouts, black olives and their dill sauce) We liked both and the sandwich could have been shared and we would have had sufficient. One of my favorite things about Cashiers is the abundance of locally owned and operated long standing businesses, and the glaring lack of anything you could call a chain. (May it always be!). One of the longest standing among them is "The Corn" as locals call it. Open air. Casual. Delicious. If you don't drink sweet tea that's ok.... But you will be in the minority here :). I miss the California BLT the minute I leave town. Local tomatoes and bacon with a little avocado. Mmmmm. And my 85 year old dad always orders the meatloaf. Reminds him of childhood. If you only lunch in one place while you are visiting, I suggest you do it here. It's a Cashiers original. read more

I was so pleased with the food and the service from this restaurant! I had to sit at an outside area as I had a dog with me. The first time that I tried to visit, the outside was closed due to inclement weather. However, they do have a large open porch but no pooches allowed. So glad that I tried them again. I had the meatloaf platter and it was perfect! I needed some comfort food. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and perfectly steamed oriental veggies were great and had some leftover for an afternoon snack. My dining companions had an avocado BLT and a Ruben sandwich. Both sandwiches were perfect and pretty big. I would definitely go again! I just wish they would open the patio to well behaved dogs. read more

Loved the outdoor/porch-style setting of this restaurant! Very airy and unique. The seating set-up also offers diners a lovely view of the garden and lush greenery which really helps the ambiance. My only complaint would be the restaurant's temperature in the summer. Cornucopia appeared to have fans but none of them were on (assuming they were operational). In addition to helping cool the servers and customers, I feel like those would help keep the bugs out (a problem that we only had to deal with minimally because we were by a window). The food was very good. Rosemary and plain rolls with butter were a good offering at the start but I stayed careful not to fill up on it. FYI to those scrolling through Yelp before going to Cornucopia for dinner - their dinner menu is MUCH SHORTER and more limited than their lunch menu. We visited under the presumption that the menu was full of sandwiches - but no such outcome. I ordered the filet mignon which was said to be served with a homemade Bernaise sauce but it arrived in a brown sauce? I've never had a brown bernaise sauce but it didn't ruin the flavor of the steak which was cooked perfectly to order (medium rare), and served alongside potatoes and asparagus. I cleaned my entire plate (a rarity) but that could also be because the serving wasn't huge. My mom enjoyed her halibut which was served with jasmine rice. Extra credit to the restaurant for cutting up baby's buttered spaghetti small enough for him to enjoy it, but minus credit for not having ANY milk in the restaurant. I found that strange since many meals (and even some drinks) require milk! They had apple juice instead which he drank so much of that it ended up giving him an upset stomach. Nothing the restaurant could control but wonder if milk would've helped us have a smoother night with babay. Overall, I would recommend Cornucopia to any diner looking for a genuinely unique ambiance and refined dining experience. read more

This place is essentially an old barn which when they have all the plastic on the sides rolled up gets great breezes. It's almost like an Oktoberfest beer hall. The food and service were both excellent. Actually, our order took a while to come up, and our waitress kept apologizing and ended up giving us a slice of pie on the house because of the wait. We love reubens so we ordered the red reuben (turkey with red cabbage) and the cajun turkey and shared them half and half. We did the same for the house-made chips and fries. The red cabbage tasted great and with just enough hint of sweetness to make the sandwich very warm and comfort-foodie. The cajun turkey on the other hand had some nice kick, with a tabasco mayonnaise and jalapeno peppers. The former was on marbled rye and the latter on sourdough, both well grilled. Between the fries and the house chips, the fries were good but the chips were better. But it was nice having a mixture. Their ice tea was surprisingly good, too. And the key lime pie we had for dessert was probably the 2nd best I've ever had. Prices are quite reasonable for the portion size, taste and quality of the food. Looked like a great spot for kids to eat, too. We didn't try any of their bar drinks, but there seemed to be lots of people having drinks at the bar, too. I'd much rather eat here than at one of the over-priced restaurants in Highlands, and we would go back again next time we visit the High Country. read more

Great choice for a casual meal while in the Cashiers area. They have greatly expanded their seating indoors and on nice days, the walls open to allow the gorgeous mountain air to refresh and invigorate. Service is properly attentive and friendly. The food consists of a few salads, gigantic sandwiches, chicken tenders, etc. Everything is tasty and well-prepared. Portions are huge so consider sharing if you don't have a huge appetite. Like everything in the area, Cornucopia is more upscale than it used to be, but the relaxing vibe is conducive to a pleasant, laid back dining experience. read more

It started with the big pick-up truck parked horizontally in the specific stated parking for motorcycles, to the ever so snail pace of receiving your food. There was no excuse to wait 45 minutes to feed a table of 6; of which 4 ordered the special and the other 2 were simple sandwiches. We have been to this restaurant many times in years gone by, with relatively good results, but it's time to try other establishments that are in sync with customer flow. read more

FROM BEST to worse, every summer we leave Florida for our beautifull Burlingame home in Sapphire, NC. We always look forward to one of our favorite restaurants Cornucopia in Cashiers. The first time this is year I ordered my favorite chicken fingers and they were small and dry. I just chalked it up to coming back season opening they are closed in the witer. You The next time I tried their veggie burger and other was ok. The last time I ordered the naily special fish and chips. It was disgusting the absolute worse excuse for fish and chips. 2 small pieces of heavily breaded thin pieces of TROUT cooked so much it was hard to chew. The breaded stuffing was just awful. How anyone could serve that to someone is beyond me. Service was ok but that was the third strike and I will NEVER go back and I highlyy suggest you save your money and go ANYWHERE else. This used to be one of our favorite places in Cashiers and we would drive over from Highlands just to go there. No more! The Last two visits the food was subpar and service poor. Our visit today was really bottom of the barrell. Hostess was not friendly. Our server never checked on us after taking our order. The food was cold and didn't taste very good. Great food, slow service. I had the crab cake platter. It was three crab cakes, slightly over cooked, but it was real crabmeat!! The stir-fried vegetables was so lightly fried, it could have been steamed. My husband had a burger that was really good. Dessert was key lime pie: absolutely delicious! Cornucopia is a cute quirky restaurant in Cashiers, NC. They are covid aware, with tables 6ft apart, staff wear masks and gloves, patrons are required to wear masks when not eating and there is outdoor seating if that is what you prefer. This restaurant is very kid friendly, which is great when you are on a trip with the kiddos! They have a great kid menu with games on it and some history about the restaurant. The food was pretty good. My husband and I got a cup of clam chowder, which was delicious, and split a trout dish. We were there toward the end of their season, not sure how long their hiatus away is, but I do know they closed on Jan 3rd. This is a great place to go the next time you are in the area! Ps. Overpriced and underwhelming. An empty restaurant should have been a red flag on July 8th in Cashiers. Appetizers were good but $25 is a ripoff. Entrees came and we had 4 orders of the tuna entree. Kosher salt was utilized to crust the tuna in place of what traditionally would have been sesame seeds. While the first few bites were tolerable, it was ultimately inedible due to saltiness. When we politely told the waitress that there was an issue and to kindly let the kitchen know, we were met with "well I didn't cook the dinner" from the waitress! It all came to and end with the waitress adding 20% gratuity automatically and slamming the checks on the table exclaiming "sorry you didn't enjoy the tuna!" And running off. read more

Waited 20+ mins for anyone to acknowledge our table, then said something to hostess. We were given a typical excuse and were understanding since the restaurant was fairly busy. This place is open space restaurant. High ceilings with cool natural air. This only can happen at North Carolina with the weather. In Florida it will be too hot. A lot people visit here. It look upper class. Since it is close to golf club, a lot of retired customers. We have order the black and bleu steak salad and the fried fish. The price is above average. The salad has bleu cheese, bacon bite, grilled steak, fried onion that top with balsamic vinegar. I have order with the bleu cheese on the side but they just did not add the bleu cheese and not give me at all. I am not a fan of that cheese anyhow. The fried fish come with claw slaw, fried and eggs. The fish is fresh and good quality. The wait of the food delivery is close to 30 minutes. Which is long time. The manager come to apologize and ask what she can do for us but did not offer anything voluntary. It just action on the word but no action at all. This is been there done that restaurant. The space has such potential. We ordered soup and salad. The salad was definitely from a can. We also had an Asian noodle dish, which was also clearly not homemade and used frozen vegetables ($15). Enjoyed a great lunch here yesterday (Monday). Arrived at 1pm and the parking lot was nearly full. There was a line out the door, so we had no idea how long the wait would be. As it turned out, we were in line for about 25 minutes. The good news is that once you reach the hostess podium/bar, you place your order and pay for it. There was plenty of time to read the menu while waiting in line, so that was no problem. The "hostess" was also a bartender so she served our glass of wine as soon as we ordered. We seated ourselves without any problem finding an available table. The wait for our lunch was probably another 1/2 hour - we were told there is a real shortage of restaurant workers in the area since Covid. My fried chicken salad was delicious except the fried chicken and fried onion ring sprinkles were cold. The server said it was supposed to be cold but I couldn't help but wonder if my plate sat in the kitchen for awhile, waiting for an available server. My husband's New York Club sandwich was large and delicious. The dining room was still bustling when we left, but it was great that we didn't have to wait again for our check, since we'd already paid. We definitely hope to return. As a travelling chef, I work in the Highlands area on a regular basis. Cornucopia was a great find! I was working in the area a few weeks back and my husband and I decided to stop in for lunch. I believe they said it had rained for almost 30 days straight, and this was the first nice day, so the restaurant was busy! Parking was easy as they have their own parking lot, and the restaurant reminds me of a quaint open air farm building. The bar area is really nice and they have multiple tvs and a nice selection of spirits. We decided on burgers and fries with a glass of rose each. The burgers were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It was a really nice spot for lunch. Theres outdoor and indoor seating, both really nice areas.
