Absolutely insanely terrible service. Worst waitress I believe I've ever had. Waited 50 minutes on a sandwich and a salad. Waitress never once checked on us or refilled a drink. Didn't offer a sorry for the wait or a single pleasantry upon being seated. Was not even crowded by the time we finally got our food and had to wait another eternity for her to show back up to ask for the bill. Severely lacking basic customer service skills amongst wait and host staff. Doesn't matter how good your food is if your service sucks. read more

As a travelling chef, I work in the Highlands area on a regular basis. Cornucopia was a great find! I was working in the area a few weeks back and my husband and I decided to stop in for lunch. I believe they said it had rained for almost 30 days straight, and this was the first nice day, so the restaurant was busy! Parking was easy as they have their own parking lot, and the restaurant reminds me of a quaint open air farm building. The bar area is really nice and they have multiple tvs and a nice selection of spirits. We decided on burgers and fries with a glass of rose each. The burgers were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It was a really nice spot for lunch. Theres outdoor and indoor seating, both really nice areas. If you are okay with waiting 35 minutes for your drinks and then when you go up to see if your drinks are at the bar, your "friendly" bartender, the blonde one, told me "to get out of my f*#%ing bar you f*#%ing a$$holes." Then when you talk to the GM, she was not at all apologetic and said she wasn't going to talk to her because good help is hard to find. I suspect the ownership group and management team need to take a strong look at staff training and leadership. Then an hour later our food shows up, bill was wrong (extra meals) and then the waitress was surprised, she probably would have known if she checked on the table. read more

VIBE: This is a go-to place in Cashiers. It opened in a small house right by the highway. Has been expanded many times - the latest is a large barn-like annex that is open air in good weather. Just added a bar area and have full liquor. Restaurant, bar and gourmet shop in main building and bottle shop next door. ORDER THE Red Reuben, Arabian Club & other specialty sandwiches. The pimento cheese appetizer is outstanding with a glass of wine. Have new chef so menu will be changing. read more

The food here is varied but all good. They offer a selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and more. It's a spacious venue with a feeling of being outdoors because of the vinyl sides. They have a cute gift shop with lots of "mountainy" items. The menu was confusing, offering a sandwich selection with several bread offerings. I wanted a corned beef sandwich. Period. The waitress offered me a Reuben. I didn't want that...just a simple sandwich on my choice of bread. I was shown the sandwich plate with french fries or french fried sweet potatoes. I didn't want that. I just wanted my corned beef sandwich. There seemed to be a disconnect comprehending that I didn't want large amounts of food, nor did I want fried foods. I just wanted a simple sandwich. Finally the young woman went to check and came back to tell me that "yes" I could get just a sandwich which made sense since a "simple" sandwich selection was on the menu but when I threw in the monkey wrench of wanting the corned beef, they felt they had to upgrade me to something I didn't want. (Bear in mind that I could have gotten a plain ham, turkey, tuna salad, or chicken sandwich, but just corned beef was a difficult concept). Eventually we received our orders, the sandwich was delicious, the service was excellent and the day was sublime. When you are in Cashiers, do stop there! read more

The food is always very good but service was totally lacking on our last visit. Our waitress seemed too busy to wait on us which should have been an omen. We ordered and a server brought us our food. Our waitress never checked to see if we had everything we needed nor did she ever come back to refill our drinks, which were empty long before we finished our meal. Every time we come to Cashiers, dining at Cornucopia is a must for us! We had a reservation for 8pm and arrived about 30 minutes early. They were very accommodating, and were able to get us in. We started with the fried green beans (an absolute must, you'll thank me later!) my husband got the special; pan seared halibut with fresh vegetables. I got the cheese ravioli with the grilled chicken. The ravioli was a little bit on the heavy side, so if you are looking for something light, this wasn't it. Our server, Lily was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She steered my husband towards the Bloody Mary based on the mix they use. He was not disappointed! read more

This is a great hangout and have a good meal place in Cashier's. Dining is in a large under roof porch so you always get to enjoy the beautiful weather here. They also have a outdoor porch under umbrellas and even an area for dining with pets. We had the Sunday brunch menu and enjoyed pancakes and Crabcake Eggs Benedict. Others in our group opted for lunch items including burgers and chicken salad sandwich. Our food was mostly all well received with only sour notes being some fries were cooled off a bit. My allergy boy had a struggle with his food finding. The hash browns & egg combo just didn't quite work for him so he was left snacking on fruit. I think the fries and hash browns are the seasoned variety that isn't "clean" of additives from looking at them. I very much enjoyed my spiced up version of Crab Cakes Egg Benedict. It had a mild jalapeño hollandaise which spicy loving me was thrilled with. It gave it just enough kick to make your mouth happy but I don't think it would be too much for most people. If spicy isn't your thing I'm sure you could opt for the traditional hollandaise. Burgers and chicken salad were enjoyed and the girls loved their pancakes but all needed more syrup as they are large, thick pancakes so go ahead and ask for extra up front! Service was polite and yet not the fastest in the land, thus the ask for things up front. We did have to ask a couple of times for things as our server forgot occasionally. It is a VERY popular place in season, spring to early fall. It's just a great atmosphere for dining. Avoid peak dining times unless you are ok with waiting. We arrived at 2pm on a Sunday and sat down with in minutes. We almost always visit this place when we are in town and have always enjoyed it. I will note for regulars to the area it has changed owners a couple of times and it's not quite as good as a few years ago but you should enjoy your meal. read more

I'm giving it three stars because the lady behind the bar, Kathy, was outstanding and the friendliest person we've met in Cashiers. The Reuben was the worst I've ever had, no sauerkraut and the thinnest amount of corned beef I've ever had on a sandwich, the cheese was thicker than the corned beef. I put all the corned beef on one half of a slice of bread to be able to even taste it. It seemed like the corned beef was good quality but difficult to get a good taste. My wife's cheeseburger was not a double patty and the one slice of tomato and a sprinkling of onions was not sufficient. In addition the long line to wait to order is ridiculous and we will not be back. read more

I'm not a fan. And I've tried dozens of times over the years but this is one of my least favorite places to eat in the Highlands-Cashiers-Sapphire-Toxaway area. Our most recent visit was Easter Sunday for brunch. As always it was crowded and since it was our first time there this season I was holding out hope that the food had improved from previous visits. As I was ordering I was thinking "play it safe, just get a burger" but I decided to get the fried chicken special, which the waitress assured me was fantastic. Well, my streak of disappointing meals remains ongoing. Have you ever gotten fried chicken from a gas station that's been sitting under a heat lamp for 3-4 days just getting all dried out? This was a rad little stop on our way to the Highlands in North Carolina! A cool restaurant situated in a barn that has both indoor and outdoor seating! With a full bar I decided to try one of the local brews on tap! My pops in law took care of ordering this for me so I didn't even know what I was drinking but it was good! As for a meal I got the Vegan/Veggie Burger which was cooked awesomely and definitely prepared in house not out of a package! Which I always love. It came with a great amount of avocado, sprouts, onion, lettuce, and two huge tomatoes on wheat bread! And yep a big old pickle on the side! YUM YUM YUM! Potato chips as well! I loved it! It was big and beautiful! My wife ordered the Salmon sandwhich, which she was a little bummed about because it's SMOKED Salmon, and no where on the menu did it say that's what kinda of sandwhich it was, so just beware of that! First time here and it looked like a fun place to have a late lunch. It was fairly busy but had plenty of parking. Inside there is lots of seating and was pleasantly surprised there was nice outside seating area. Large inside eating area, but can get loud. No wait and got seated immediately. I ordered the crispy chicken salad. Excellent choice on a summer afternoon. Almonds, cranberries and red/green tomatoes. Perfect size. Service by Shelly was pretty good. She stayed up on top of my water refills. Highly recommend for a perfect causal lunch or dinner. There is a nice little gift store located adjacent to the restaurant. I'm kinda torn on this this place. I'll have to try it again this summer. Came in with a group of 10 on a rain off-season day and we were greeted and seated promptly. The service was fine, we didn't wait or lack for anything. The food was OK. I won't say there was anything particularly special about any of it. Tried their trout fish spread. I'm not a big seafood eater, but usually enjoy fish spread. It wasn't tasty to me, but others liked it. I guess what really bothered me was the prices compared to the amount and type of food. I had a club sandwich and chips. It was overpriced at $12. My wife had the curry chicken salad. It was $12 or $14 and definitely not worth it. It was some pieces of chicken served on a quarter of a melon or cantaloupe. She was hungry an hour later. Totally a small portion for the price. Well, not what it used to be. Had my usual sandwich, the WH, the bread was hard and cold, more bread than meat. Must have been pre made sandwich. Not very good. The Cole slaw was awful, dry and not fresh. It's not hard to make a creamy-sweet fresh coleslaw, however this has always been lost on this place. Very disappointed. Great outside atmosphere and very nice bar set up. Staff is always very helpful and polite. Those are the two stars. Hope it gets better. read more

Stopped by here with the family after a busy morning paddle boarding. While we had a wait, it was fairly short, especially since others told us it was much longer right at noon. Great atmosphere - a big airy barn space with plenty of seating and very comfortable. Service was accommodating and patient, especially with my children. Food is quite tasty and portions generous - I had the classic Reuben and it totally hit the spot. The burgers were spot on (especially the pimento cheese one), and the club sandwich was HUGE! Bring your appetite if you order it! On a related note the full bar is quite handy, has local beers on tap, and makes a tasty Moscow Mule! Definitely a place to return to! read more

On 08/22/17 at 1800ish..We were pleasantly greeted by the Hostess (sorry I didn't get her name. Young girl with highlighted hair). She was talking over seating with a older gentleman, who was dressed as a server. A server, Holly Dolledon, said, "idiot" in a quiet tone...although we were able to hear her. The Hostess came unglued and began lecturing her on how she should not talk about her like that in front of customers. She went on for a few minutes until the male showed us to our table. Not one of the three apologized to us for the confrontation. Totally unprofessional....I agree the server should not have made that remark....if it was directed to her or not....but the Hostess made it worse by attacking her. Stopped here at the suggestion of a friend who lives in Highlands. Was seated quickly and the waiter took our drink orders. Another waiter stopped by to check on us to make sure we had been addressed so we were impressed with the attention. Ordered drinks and lunch and it wasn't long before we had our food. Everything was excellent and the portions were more than enough for one person. Didn't feel rushed at all. Waiter stopped by with the check. We noticed a service charge which must be for using a credit card. Ok. Ended up paying cash and was extremely disappointed when they did not bring back our change. We paid for an $18 meal with a $20 bill. Asked the waiter to make change for a $5 bill which turned out to be unnecessary because the waiter took our twenty without returning the change. We left a 20% tip minus the change we didn't get back. Would come back but next time we pay in cash we will make sure to ask for our change back. read more

The Cornucopia is the highlight of my YEAR. I've been coming to this front porch for the last 23 Seasons and it never disappoints. They're also doing a GREAT job during this pandemic mess. I felt they were really doing the best job they could while still keeping the feel the same, and that's really what this place is all about- the feel. You're at home here. I got the burger (phenomenal) and my wife got the Cali BLT which was also great. The burger was cooked perfectly, cheese melted just enough, and the lettuce, tomato, and onion were all crisp and tasty. The b&b pickles were icing on the cake.
