I came across this café while looking for a quiet place to get some work done, and I'm so glad I…read moredid! First of all, the name caught my attention because I'm a huge Edgar Allan Poe fan. I was pleasantly surprised that the Poe theme is clever and subtle rather than overly cheesy. The décor has more of an antique bookstore feel, with fun Poe inspired names throughout the menu. Despite the theme, there's nothing dark or dreary about this place. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service was prompt. Our waiter was friendly and had some great recommendations. The soup sampler was easily the highlight for me. I've never seen anything like it before! I tried the baja chicken enchilada, mushroom with brie cheese, beef chili with beans, and the special of the month potato curry. I ranked them from favorite to least favorite, but honestly, everything was delicious in its own way. My drink and sandwich with a side of potato salad was very tasty! I finished the whole thing! If you're a Poe fan, the witty menu names will definitely make you smile. The food is good, portions are satisfying, and the prices are reasonable. I'd absolutely come back if I'm ever in the area again to try more of the menu.

As excited as she was to get her pear and brie, the owner told us about the grape and brie with balsamic reduction pizza, and suggested that she try one half and half and compare the two (see photo). You cannot find pizza like this anywhere around here. They have the perfect ratio of toppings and cheese with a perfect thin style crust. Atmosphere is very laid back and great for intimate conversations and mature settings. We snagged it and was dumbfounded by not only how many people were there but by the high energy and smiles. I was educated by my in-laws that the Brass Rail Bar is loved by many because of it's history and after being closed for a while after a death (I think) and covid, when it reopened, is packed full all days of the week. We went in specifically to try their Tom & Jerry cocktail which is evidently a Port Huron staple during the Christmas season. I can't remember the ingredients but they were delicious!!! I ordered a pepperoni, thin crust, extra sauce. To me, the sauce and a good chewy crust are the only things that differentiate mediocre from great. I am very certain I didn't get extra sauce as it was not really detectable under the cheese. I also am not sure about the crust. They have extra thin, thin, regular and thick. I ordered thin, but what what I got was a very normal "regular" thickness. The flavor was a bit bland, the lack of much sauce probably contributed. The crust was more bread like than chewy, which isn't a plus for me. It didn't hold up well overnight, and wasn't great as breakfast the next day. On the positive side, my GF had the chicken Pecan salad and really enjoyed it. They have a nice, eat in restaurant and arcade, if that's something that appeals to you. There are two other places in the area I like, and I see no reason to add this one to the rotation.
