First learned of Graceful Changes was when I was retained, by a shopper, to collect some furniture purchased from one of the estate sales. The sale seemed organized, the staff attentive. There seemed to be genuine interest in the welfare of the property. We were asked several times to be cautious handling larger items down narrow stairs. Since then, we've had a number of additional interactions with Graceful Changes. All seemed on par with other estate sales operations we've visited. On one such encounter, we had the opportunity to see the house on the first day of estate sale prep. This was an incredible mess. This was a "hoarder with too many animals disaster". Oh the smell!!! The first time (a handful of years ago) I caught one of Graceful Changes sales, I drove by one of their now-familiar signs and did a U-turn. Not sure what attracted me on a busy Wednesday morning, but I was lured. To this day I still have the things I bought at that sale; a fabulous lamp and candle holder, both with gorgeous monkeys. I guess it was the primates that called to me. Over the years, I've found other treasures at these sales and now have the benefit of being on a mailing list and watching them on Facebook. Graceful Changes is like no other Estate Sales Company. They let you (and your kids) use the bathroom! Estate Salers who get up early and zoom off with their latte in hand, know how important this is. They are NICE to kids and don't treat them like vermin. (Some Estate Sales don't even ALLOW kids -- we don't go to those, whether we have the kids or not.) They never overcharge; you'll often get the DEAL of a lifetime. Wait! Isn't that what Estate Sales are about? If I wanted to pay a precious price, I would have gone to an overpriced antique store in La Conner and had lunch! Graceful Changes is about getting a bargain and going home with what feels like a prize. They rarely price things, and let you make a pile, (which they watch over like sentries); then they give you a total, putting a grin on your face. Bring boxes and bags; it's the courteous thing to do, but they will provide if you forget. I hardly even go to other sales anymore. A friend referred me to Graceful Changes and they did a wonderful job. My sister and I inherited our mothers estate. On top already going through a difficult time, we were overwhelmed with stuff and trying to clean the house out ourselves. Our mother kept everything and every garage and attic were jammed full. At first, we had several garage sales to get rid of stuff on our own. Let me tell you, that is a waste of time. People who go to garage sales are cheap and don't want to spend a lot of money. Especially for higher valued items. In their mind everything is 50 cents. Just call Graceful Changes to take that burden off your hands. My sister and I were overwhelmed and time is money when you calculate property taxes, water, sewer, electric, and etc. We have a deadline when we want to sell the house. Graceful Changes Estate Sales. Hmmm... Let's see. By definition that implies a sale of the contents of an estate. We've all gone to one. Anxiously waiting to get in the door to see what treasures you may find. That's what we expected. That's what we were told. As a person looking to best handle these contents of a loved ones estate and get an established, knowledgeable company to price each item, we mistakenly went with Graceful Changes. They purport to confer with experts, that they are knowledgeable and will have this grand sale. They will advertise it everywhere and they will get us top dollar on everything. Now, considering you are grieving for your loss of your loved one and you've been left with debt to handle, you take some comfort in knowing you have generations of wonderful things that should bring good money. Ok, get ready for reality. They have next to no knowledge of the value of items. They call a list of friends/vendors/store owners to come cherry pick all the valuable items. Nothing is priced. They take whatever is offered by these pickers. This goes on for a few days. In the meantime, they bag up all the stuff they deem trash or giveaways (I rescued a 1950 Frederick & Nelson Pendleton coat among other things from the bags). Vintage furniture was practically given away. I'm sure her antiques consultant who "took these things off her hands" laughed all the way to the bank. Had there been an actual sale with people off the street, we would've actually made some money. While we did endeavor to point out valuable items, our input was unwanted and fell on deaf ears. After 2 days I stopped in to drop off some material for the house repairs. There had been NO ESTATE SALE but all the valuable items had been sold to her friends and associates. The very, very few remaining items (2 tables of misc and several boxes of items) sadly sat there for the Estate Sale she finally had on a Wednesday morning from 8am-10am. What? You missed it?? So did everyone else. She posted it on her FB page at 7:30pm the night before. That's it. That was our Estate Sale. Yes, prime time. Wednesday morning, virtually unadvertised and anything worth selling already undersold to her cronies. She told me "at least a hundred people showed up". The neighbors said a couple cars came. After basically giving away our family belongings and keeping her 40%, she had the gall to charge & keep $600 for "clean up". Oh, and do NOT give them a key to the residence unless they present you with proof of bond. Yes, Lori, I know you are reading this & will have a million excuses or will flat out deny it was this bad. At least this is the first honest review not written by you or an employee. Stop promising what you cannot deliver. There is nothing worse to a grieving family than to have an opportunistic "business" pull the remaining rug out from under them. You are running a clean out business not an estate sale business. You are going to tick off the wrong person at some point and really find yourself in hot water. read more

Several months ago when my dad decided to downsize I hired them to clean out the house and do an estate sale. The combination of an antique collection plus 50 years of living led to a very full three-story house. They were prompt for the assessment, didn't bat an eye when I divulged that there were 1. plumbing problems which resulted in no running water and 2. a rodent issue in the basement. The estimate arrived two days later - exactly when they said it would. They were able to start quickly, the dumpster was delivered and they got to work. In two weeks they were ready for an estate sale. While they worked in the house they were judicious in what they threw away and what they kept for the sale or what they thought would have meaning to my family . Any time they came across photos or other obvious family memorabilia they set it aside for me. There were a few items I hadn't been able to find in the house and when they found the items they set them aside for me as well. The entire staff was friendly and hard-working. Their impact to the neighborhood was minimal and we were amazed at how quickly and how well they were able to get the job done. With their contacts in the industry they exceeded our expectations on the estate sale profits and they left the house completely cleaned out. Most importantly, anytime I had a question or concern Lori was very quick to answer and respond and when my dad would stop by they treated him with the utmost respect. I observed and attended my neighbor's sale and was astounded, especially after hearing from the neighbor the items that were unaccounted for and how little money (less than $50) she was left with for a household full of goods. The person, MAH, who wrote an earlier review on anothet page associated with this business was right on. The exact same things happened here. People came days before the sale and removed things (I thought they were people helping my neighbor move or I would have done something). Nothing, not a single item, was priced. I observed no one recording sales. The sale hours were three hours on a Thursday and three hours on a Friday. That's it. Avoid this company! read more

Graceful Changes recently cleaned out a part of my house that was piled with the belongings of a beloved family member who died recently. They made this difficult task as easy as it could possibly be. I would hire them again in a minute. While I knew most of the things I wanted removed were probably going to end up in the trash, I still wanted someone knowledgeable to sort through my loved one's precious stuff, and get as much as possible into the hands of someone who'd want it, rather than just taking everything to the transfer station. This was too small a job for the big estate sale companies I found initially, but fortunately, one of them recommended Graceful Changes. Lori and Theresa are just great to work with. Besides their other skills, they are totally comfortable with the emotional side of this kind of project. They were kind and supportive in an accepting, matter-of-fact way (and also made me laugh). Beginning with our first contact, they were responsive (I got a call back less than an hour after my initial voicemail), flexible, organized, professional, and efficient. During the initial assessment they gave me a realistic idea of what probably could be sold or donated, and what probably couldn't. They gave me an estimate, and explained their process clearly. The work took a little less than two days, for which they charged their minimum, $1200. This seemed completely reasonable to me for the service they provided. They sorted through everything carefully, pulling several things out of the chaos that I had missed and that they realized I would want to keep. They winnowed out all the other items that could be of value to someone, and sold or appropriately donated them. 60% of sale proceeds (which came to more than I expected) were credited back to me. They moved everything else out into a recycling dumpster, which was then taken away to have recyclables sorted out before the rest was discarded. They went out of their way to list some landscaping materials on freecycle sites so I would not have to pay to have them hauled away. After the first day's work, I asked them to also pull up the old, damaged carpet from one of the rooms, and they were able to do that too, for a small additional fee. They finished on time and left the whole area clean and empty, ready for me to use. In other words, they did exactly what I wanted done, and made the process as painless as possible. They had lived in the home for over 40 years and had kept everything. When my father passed away my sisters and I had the daunting task of cleaning out his house before we placed it on the market. None of us lived in his town so we were not sure how we were going to get this done.
