Although her staff was extremely nice and helpful, Dr. Kim was the worst doctor interaction I have ever had. At times feeling worthless due to her lack of care or concern. Each time I had a conversation I was constantly cut off when talking. I was quickly hung up on during calls and she even just left an appointment after she found it fit to be done. Not once did she ask if I had any questions. I was told to just call another endocrinologist because she can't help me anymore or at least did not want to. She barely asked questions and continually deprecated me when referring to the severity of the pain I was having. She looks at a singular blood test and diagnoses you without taking into account any other symptoms or feelings. I even showed all of my other labs and would not look at any other metric besides TSH and TPO. She will just give you medication and move on. She does not provide any additional insight, information, or resources. When asked about lifestyle changes I could make other than drugs she did not answer. She also did not refer to any notes prior to appointments as she did not even remember the drugs that she prescribed me or the diagnosis she gave me during an ultrasound she performed. This doctor gave a very bad impression for my first visit and highly unprofessional. I happen to be doing a zoom call for my first meeting and the connection started off bad then got worse and connection was lost. Instead of the doctor trying to immediately get back into the meeting room or trying to call me by phone or email to continue the meeting, she instead decides to jump to her next patient and begin that appointment. I had immediately went back into the zoom meeting and waited for 5 minutes hoping she would get back on and that never happened because she was already on to the next patient even though I had waited a week and a half for this appointment and insurance was charged. I don't know what kind of person who's ever been in a zoom call and lost connection gives up on the meeting and just never attempts to return to it to continue at least once. This doctor is very unprofessional and obviously has a time is money approach to dealing with patients. I chose not to reschedule like her receptionist requested but instead we'll look for a doctor who is more professional and has more empathy for situations like these. Dr. Grace Kim was recommended to me by UCSF. Her excellent life changing care is hard for me to fully describe in words. She is the best Endocrinologist (if not the best doctor) on the planet. Other Endocrinologists I have gone to, including at some of the very top institutions (including the Chairs of entire departments in related fields in such institutions) in the world I would give a 2 out of 10 score at best and Dr. Kim gets a 15 out of 10 score. This doctor has no bedside manners. She uses words like "freaking". She is not interested in discussing the issues a patient has. She is only interested to prescribe medicine. She would not even listen to my issues. Once she heard an opportunity to prescribe medicine, she would not even hear about other problems I have. There is a prevailing problem with doctors in the peninsula and that is if you complain about things written on your medical record that are false, the doctor becomes agitated and then refuses to treat you. I went to this doctor, and noticed that she was intent on reading my health history to me and refusing and ignoring me when I tried to correct her on mistakes on the record. Its important that the correct information is on your medical record, it could save your life. Dr. Kim refused to listen to me and accused me of not listening to her. I received a print out of the visit and noticed several things were not correct. I called up to make sure that the record was correct. She then called me back and stated that she could not treat me and she was angry that I complained. I tried to let her know the importance of a corrrect medical record but she was not hearing it. You must advocate for yourself and speak up when something is not right. No relationship with any doctor should be onesided. Its not them telling you, and you have no input. Just to let everyone know, I got Sepsis and almost died in 2017 because a doctor refused to listen to me when I told him I had a compromised immune system and that the antibiotic he prescribed would not work for my condition of pneumonia. He refused to give me the correct antibiotic and the correct dossage. I was discharged in unstable condition. I then went to another hospital and they discovered I had severe Sepsis. read more

My brother was referred to Dr. Kim by his primary care doctor. I am the majority caregiver for my brother who is elderly, has special needs and very severe diabetes. We had to cancel two appointments with Dr. Kim because my brother contracted COVID. He tested positive for 3 weeks so I was unable to make any other appointments. During this time the facility he lives in was inundated with new cases of COVID and they went on lockdown for 2 weeks. Then, the office set an appointment with my brother without my knowledge. When my work schedule did not permit me to make this appointment, Dr. Kim refused to see my elderly, special needs brother to test his severe diabetes anymore and dropped him. When I tried to speak to the mostly unreasonable doctor she was too busy trying talk over me to listen to a word I said. I guess this office wants you to keep your appointments even if you are COVID positive! Dr. Kim's office staff has already been commented on -- so I will simply agree that they are rude, slow, and not pleasant to deal with. However, Dr. Kim is their boss and should manage them better, so I will not separate the staff from their boss. Far more troubling is the fact that I was a Hashimoto's thyroiditis patient of Dr. Kim's for 3 YEARS before she bothered to scan my thyroid for cancer and benign masses. I wasn't even made aware this was a concern until that appointment. THREE YEARS of appointments, tests, and medications and she never once explained this risk? Unacceptable. Further, she never offered me any information about my condition unless I've asked about specific concerns. She does not provide insight, resources for research, or even seem that concerned that I don't feel great. As long as my bloodwork looks "ok" and I pay her to re-up my meds, she seems to feel she's doing her job. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. read more

I have to split this review into the doctor herself and her office staff. Dr Kim gets five stars as a caregiver. Unfortunately her office staff gets a bit fat zero. I've been a patient of hers for more than three years and when I get in an exam room with her it's great. But getting to that point, and dealing with her office staff on any follow up has been nothing short of a complete and total nightmare. They don't answer the phones - fewer than one-fourth of my calls is answered. The rest end up in a voicemail system that is not responded to by staff in any kind of a timely manner and there is never a follow up call to confirm that whatever I needed in my voicemail has been taken care of. Dr Kim's office managers - and she's had several during the time I've been her patient - tell me that they have significant problems hiring and retaining staff. Sorry, that's not my problem. My problem is that her staff are wholly incapable of supporting the care needs of her patients. I am switching to another doctor. They may not be any better, but their office staff couldn't possibly be any worse. read more

I will tell you about my horrible experience with Grace Kim about 8 years ago. At that time I saw her at Seton hospital on Sullivan Ave , Daly City . I was really ill with Hashimoto's thyroiditis at the time and in a state of almost panic because that's one of the ways hypothyroidism can manifest . It's also a symptom of synthroid overdose. It takes a well trained doctor to look at the whole patient and take a minute to really differentiate what's going on as well as listening to the patient and I was desperate for help. I saw her early in the morning at her office on an urgent basis. Her office staff were incredibly rude and insensitive. When I saw her she was indifferent, uncaring and totally mismanaged my synthroid dose. Synthroid is based on a persons weight. At the time I was over 200 lbs and had just started increasing my synthroid dose to 50 mcg. Because she was in a rush and annoyed with me, she cut my dose to 25 mcg instead of increasing it to at least 100mcg!!! I left in a worse state. Through my kid 's pediatrician I finally saw Dr. Nathan Becker. Look him up . The most eminent endocrinologist in the country! See his reviews!! He was astonished at her mis management of my condition because he knew her partner at the time, an older knowledgeable endocrinologist. Fast forward.. in a short time I made a complete recovery and on Dr. Becker's advice had my thyroid removed because I had to keep adjusting the dose to keep the Hashimoto's manageable. Today I'm happy to say he saved my life! My dose today is 225 mcg daily adding T3 when needed. That's the recipe that works for me. Everyone will have their own recipe .Dr. Becker will see to that! It's no in and out with him . He looks, watches and listens intently. Sooo.. after I started recovering I called her to discuss her gross medical mismanagement of me . Her response , and I remember it to this very day , was not only dismissive but reeked of superiority " I'm glad you got the care you needed" was all she managed to say . She never , ever took a minute to hear what I had to say , or apologize or ask me what treatment I received to recover or to own her unprofessional behavior toward me.! Do not ever let a doctor dismiss you or treat you insensitively. Read and research your health condition thoroughly and for your own safety, do not see Dr. Kim .. your life and recovery will depend on it! I asked her to explain osteoporosis, how my test results compared, what it all means, and to educate me on the therapies. She took the time to inform, and answer all my questions. In this day, when physicians have limited time to spend with patients, I appreciated her time, and relaxed, courteous manner. I also appreciate her cautiousness in prescribing drugs, with attention to not overdosing, and prescribing drug holidays when newer drugs' long-term side effects are unknown. I did not rate this MD, because in my opinion the office staff and the office manager were the worst I have ever spoken to on the phone. I did not feel they deserved any stars at all. God knows the DR. might be fabulous but good luck dealing with the office staff they we rude and talked over me. the especially terrible person was the office manager in their Daly City location. She was very arrogant and would not listen to what I was saying.There are many fish in the sea as they say but I would steer clear of these two MD's. They ought to know this about their office staff and make some changes because there is no patient customer service at all. I could go many places where you are treated like a human being.
