The care team are great there. They are really accommodating in all ways. Dr. Bullock and Dr. Abe spend more than 30 minutes with you which is so rare these days. They have comprehensive knowledge, and intuitive treatment which really addresses your illness in a variety of ways. The admin staff are amazing and kind. I've been seeing Dr.Bullock for a few years,and was always happy with him,even after noticing some severe dementia in his mental capacity.I had a real problem with him lately however,when I had a severe allergy from Rogaine on my head that left me with open sores around my face.One sore became infected,and when I asked Dr Bullock for some antibiotics he refused.He sent me for a CT scan without dye,which took 3 weeks to schedule..meanwhile I was in horrific pain by now as the problem had escalated to my temple area with severe swelling.I went back to him,and he sent me again to a CT scan with Dye this time.After another 2weeks I saw him again..and this time he could not locate his notes from the scan.I brought up the issue of double vision and blurry vision and expressed my sheer terror of going blind,The pain behind my eye was excruciating by this time.He sent me an eye doctor and the technician told me I had double vision,but didn't put that into his report.When I went back to see Bullock,he insinuated I was lying about it.He sent me to another eye doctor who confirmed the double vision with a note to send me to a neurologist and a possible link to lymph nodes being infected.I brought a paper in to Bullock showing where lymph nodes were compared to my temple area where the swelling and pain was.Before I went back I aoso went to the ER for an MRI,because if I was sent to one by Bullock it would take 3more weeks.Once I was in his office he berated me for going to the ER saying I had no right to go without are referral ,and now would owe the total bill myself.He told me I could never go to ER without his approval.Which is NOT true..I didn't owe a cent.When he saw the paper in my hand about lymph nodes area in the neck..he grabbed it out of my hand.He then proceeded to tell me I was crazy,and needed more antianxiety drugs..that it was all in my head and that I was having a panic attack.I found a new doctor after two more weeks..told him my symptoms and he told me I had Trigiminial neuralgia .,a irritation of my temporal nerve and prescribed me gabapentin,..The pain went away,and was told that this is a lifetime disease.Dr Bullocks extreme unprofessional attitude was so uncalled for.To be so callous when a patient is not only in extreme pain for a total of 4months,but also greatly concerned about going blind,is unjustified.I will never go back..ever,... . Another problem is his deteriorating mental state.On many occasions he forgot what tests he sent me for,and even the fact I had breast cancer after just sending me for an MRI because Im such a high risk. read more

I booked an appointment for 10am for a physical. This was my first time visiting this office. I was told to show up at 9:30am to fill out 5 minutes worth of paperwork. The receptionist was very unfriendly. I questioned why they needed my social security number and they said if you refuse to give it, we will not service you. At 10:40am I was taken to the exam room and told to get undressed and into the gown. At 11:15am, I was so angry from waiting I got dressed and walked out of the room. I requested them to shred all my information and give me my copay back. I let them keep my urine sample. I would avoid this doctor and office if you value your time, because they obviously don't. read more

Without a shadow of a doubt, my visit to Dr. Bullock was the best medical experience I've had in the Bay Area (and I've had plenty). After being treated poorly by my current (well former now) family physician, I called Dr. Bullock's office to see another doctor for a second opinion. They managed to fit me in, that very day for an appointment. I came by to see them, and found the reception staff very helpful and friendly. My actual appointment was excellent. Dr. Bullock showed general concern and professional attention to my medical problem, asking me many more questions than my last doctor had done. He recognized the condition as serious, and as I was in extreme pain, he gave me a painkiller shot right there and then. SO excellent! Because my condition is specific, he referred me to a specialist -- Dr. Jones -- for my next appointment. I had a really pleasant experience with the office of Dr. Bullock. I arrived late because I got a bit lost (the streets around his office are one-ways so it takes a bit of trickery to get on the right street). The receptionist kinda grumped at me because this was my first appointment and I needed to be early, so they bumped me a slot while I filled out my paperwork. The nurse that came in to take my stats was really friendly and gentle. I only had to wait a couple minutes before the doctor came in. He's really friendly as well, had a bit of an accent ("Here, let me listen to your ticker" in a minor english accent made me giggle.) When we concluded talking about what I actually came in there for, he asked about my childhood and any other problems I had, and took a real interest when I mentioned something that wasn't relevant to the visit - curious about my treatment and what other doctors did Overall, I felt very comfortable at the office, and will be keeping Dr. Bullock as my primary physician. read more

Dr. Bullock is a great doctor who is very helpful. His diagnoses are right on the dot. Ive been in at the end of the day, and people just walked in for an urgent medical issue, and he is nice enough to stay on his own time to see them. He is funny and accurate. If you don't have insurance, he sees cash patients for fairly cheap. WAY cheaper than any other facility I have seen actually. The NP Kathe is great and helpful as well. I had a kidney infection and Dr. Bullock diagnosed it right away and seemed to show real concern. He had me follow up with him twice to make sure the infection had cleared entirely. Overall I thought my experience with him has been very good. I was frankly a bit surprised to read so many negative reviews here, but, come to think of it, the place was irritatingly unorganized. I've had interactions with the doctors and staff at Arch Street for several years. Here's what I've found over that time: The minuses: It's true that phone interactions with the staff are not always ideal - they seem abrupt and often inattentive. Also, there are occasions when you can wait a frustratingly long time beyond your scheduled appointment time. The pluses: Really thorough evaluations of your issues, particularly by Kathe Gibboney. I initially had Dr. Bullock as my primary, but he can be a little old school in his approach; when I had a chance opportunity to receive care from NP Gibboney, I was impressed by her attention and interest in having me understand everything she recommended. Dr. Bullock just saved my sister-in-law's life. I have been a patient of his for 30 years. I have a very complicated medical issues. Dr. Bullock has saved my life as well. My sister-in-law came to see him after her doctors sent her in a circle of specialists. I call them the 10 minute doctors. Nothing was actually getting done to help her conditions. She had basically given up. I took her to Dr. Bullock and he immediately took action. He ordered all the tests that she needed. She didn't need to go to specialists! Dr. Bullock's knowledge and experience is vast. He is able to find just the right test or treatment. In complicated situations he knows the obscure tests available or another way to test for the information needed. He is remarkable, really remarkable. He is always thinking outside the box. He takes the time necessary with his patients. He listens, is interested and concerned. It is like you are a puzzle, you can see that he is determined to solve. And he does. He told my sister-in-law that she would die if the appropriate action wasn't taken. He had her hospitalized. She was then in a recovery facility for 39 days. She is now so much better, it's amazing. She understands her condition and is committed to her future care plan. She sings his praises to everyone. Our family is indebted to Dr Bullock. I truly wish I could give this place zero stars and here's why: - good luck with actually being seen at your scheduled time. I had gone there 3 times and had to wait between 30 minutes to AN HOUR to be seen. Look, if I actually drag myself to go see the doctor, I'm really *not* feeling well, so being stuck in a geriatric-ward-esque office is one of the last places I want to be when feeling ill. - The staff here is a mixed bag, I've had super sweet women at the front and absolute trolls who "accidentally" hang up on my multiple times to schedule an appointment or get information - I wasn't told until I was checking in for one of my appointments that Dr. Bullock wasn't in (vacation) and i'd be seeing his replacement. His replacement was super creepy (stringy hair, receding hair line, long nails, sunken eyes....you get the picture...not kidding) and I didn't feel comfortable AT ALL being in a room alone with this doctor. I would have appreciated someone letting me know beforehand that I would not be seeing Dr. Bullock (who I was scheduled to see). - Now to Dr. Bullock....a joke. He's a nice man, but I don't know if he's really all there to be practicing medicine anymore. When I went in last May with the flu I told him I had asthma to which he replies "ok". A few minutes later he moves me to another room with this huge breathing machine to TEST IF I HAVE ASTHMA.....dude, I just told you that I have had asthma since I was 5 and told the nurse beforehand the two inhalers I use, why the hell would you test me? Laughable at the time, yes, laughable once I got the bill for usage of the machine (a glorified peek-flo for all my asthmatics out there lol) not so much. Now i'm out over $100 for the doctor forcing me to use this ridiculous machine to confirm something I had already told him. Sorry, was my ridiculous coughing and name dropping Albuterol not enough for you? - Icing on the cake: I came to Dr. Bullock (got his creeper protege as previously mentioned) about a really bad cough that had me throwing up because I was coughing so hard....can anyone guess what I had??? He said "it'd go away" and gave me some awful cough syrup. Now I don't mind a little codeine coma going to bed, but waking up yacking like i'm in my first trimester is NOT COOL. Upon finding out what was in the meds one of the side effects was nausea--thanks for the warning buddy. Now it's been a week and no improvement and I WILL NOT call him, so I go to Stanford Medical Center (should have gone there in the first place). Within ten minutes the doctor looks at me, shakes her head, and says I have pertussis aka whooping cough. WTF. Awesome. So for the past two weeks I've been potentially getting dozens of people sick and even my bf's baby niece! She gives me some antibiotics and says had she caught this a week or so earlier the meds would be much more effective, instead they should maybe shorten how long I had it for (it didn't, I was still coughing up my life and throwing up for another 2 1/2 months afterwards). **Ok, I seriously wrote a novel, my apologies, but in summary: Dr. Bullock's negligence ended up costing me over $100 one time and having WHOOPING COUGH for 3 months. Yes, he could have identified the infection with a test, and given me antibiotics to shorten it. (And for the tsk-tskers who may say my shots should have been kept up, they were, I had had my last tdap in 2005 so I should have been fine, check your local CDC warnings about how everyone's immunizations are wearing off for the tdap) read more

I've been going to Dr. Bullock for about 9 months for a fairly chronic thing, and I have to say I like him quite a lot. The office is an old house, with a nice amount of parking out front and back. For most things you can get the Nurse Practitioner, Kathy, to see you that day or the next. She's wonderful, knowledgeable, and very friendly. We chat about books every time I go in. Getting to see Dr. Bullock can take a little longer, but he's extremely sharp guy. He's also a little quick in his examinations if you don't ask him questions or engage him, but he's willing to stick around as long as is necessary to figure out what's wrong with you. I have been a patient if dr bullocks for 15 years. I had a appointment today and when I got there they told me that they no longer accept blue cross, blue shield or Aetna. I asked why they did not disclose this when I made an appointment and her reply was they sent letters out. I told her that I had not received the letter and requested a copy. I've been with this doctor's office for about 7 years.....Dr. Bullock is a very nice guy, and when I had an emergency a few years ago and had to stay in the hospital for a week, he came by almost every day to check up on me. Unfortunately a few weeks later when I came back to his office, I don't think he remembered my name or even who I was. Don't get me wrong, I think he's smart and a good doctor, but I always get the feeling he's overwhelmed. Their whole office always seems a bit harried and unorganized...sometimes during appointments, somone will pop their head in the door and tell him there's a phone call or something like that. The last couple years or so I've been using the office's Nurse Practioner for routine checkups, Kathe Gibboney, and I'm pretty happy with her. I have great insurance but lets face it, its hard to find a great general practioner. I have been going to Dr. Bullock for many years. For years I was pleased with Dr. Bullock's services, the office staff is another story. Up until this last year or two when the office "updated" to computers the care from Dr. Bullock completely changed. The last time I was seen, Dr. Bullock didn't hear anything I said he was searching online during my entire 5-7 min in the room. After I waited an hour past my appointment time. He rushed me out and told me to make another appointment for followup. What a joke. The office manager Linda, who also handles the billing, is a piece of work. If I'm lucky it will only take 2-3 weeks for a return call. Most of the time she doesn't return a call at all. This years excuse is "changing the system" but she was always extremely delayed in returning calls from years ago. You'll never get her on the phone either and she is rude when she does return your call. She needs to take customer service classes on proper ways to conduct herself when speaking to clients. If that wasn't bad enough try to get correct billing done with that office, what a mess! For almost a year Linda has been billing me for something that is completely covered by my insurance, my insurance has proof that she never billed them for the office visit. Instead of correcting the issue with the direct contact info I provided, she keeps rebilling me with late payment charges. read more

This is a great office. I have had five appointments here, and have not been disappointed. The service is quick, I show up 5 minutes early every time, and haven't had to wait for long at any visit. My doctor is great, and always caters to my needs. He spends at least an hour with me every time. At a couple visits, I have told him I had to leave after an early to take care of other needs. He kindly complied and didn't show discontent or anything of that sort. All in all, this is a friendly place, with great receptionists and even better doctors. I've been seeing the NP and am very happy with her, BUT the office constantly charges my insurance company $35 for "office visits" that never happened!!! Trying to get them to return a call is impossible. Linda, when she did return a call, rudely said they charge my insurance "office visits" every time they have to file a report in your chart, as from a mammogram, pap smear, done by someone else. EXCUSE ME...that is the receptionists job!!! I think the charge would be appropriate if it was a report that needed the attention of the doctor, like a blood test....or a report that was ordered by that office, but filing a report that was sent as a courtesy by another doctor is part of doing business and keeping accurate records!!! Actually, I'm checking into this situation, because I think this might be insurance fraud. If it is, I will turn them in. One time, they sent me a bill that my insurance did not pay, for over $130 for "office visits" that again NEVER HAPPENED! If it's not criminal, it is just plain WRONG. No wonder all of our insurance premiums are so high. Linda in the billing department is RUDE, as well as some of the front desk personnel. Kathe Gibboney, the nurse practitioner who works in this office, is nice, respectful. intuitive, and good at her job. Those with disabilities will find this office difficult. There is only one disabled parking space. Dr. Bullock, who is not disabled, parks in this space sometimes. Often the other available parking is full. It is quite difficult to find parking on the street. The space you find could be two or more blocks away. When you have walked back to the office there are a few more obstacles. The lower set of stairs that lead to the upper set does not have a railing. The lower stairs are necessary to reach the chair lift on the side of the house/office by the most direct route. The alternative route is to walk completely around the back of the house, passing the disabled parking spot, to reach the chair lift. The chair lift transports one up to the porch and there is a gate that swings open. Often the gate is blocked by potted plants that are lined up across the base of the gate and cannot be swung open. It is necessary to risk damaging the plants and pots or yell for someone inside to move the plants. One of the front desk employee is not able to respect confidentiality. read more

After I moved from SF down to the RWC I needed a tetanus shot. My insurance gave me Dr. Bullock's name as a "preferred provider." Long and short, this office will not honor the contract price of immunizations (though it's possible this policy could extend to other procedures) that it has agreed with your insurance company to charge you (i.e. say the doctor's price is $85 and actual insurance contract price is $30; if your insurance pays $15 toward the shot, you SHOULD only be responsible for the remaining $15, but, in reality, they will charge you $70). I had never seen this before at any other doctor's office and was told that they can legally get around the insurance obligation by having the patient sign a form agreeing to this arrangement. So, if you go to this office be very aware of anything you sign (do not trust the verbal explanation given when the form is placed in front of you -- read it yourself), otherwise (if you have insurance) it will cost you more out of pocket than it should. And aren't high medical costs why you have insurance in the first place? read more

I have been coming to this practice for 23 years, before Dr.Bullock took it over. I loved it then, and I still do. Kathe Gibboney, FNP, is the best! I always know that even if I had to wait, she will take time with me and go over every thing. There's no rushing, or making me feel like I'm a crazy hypochondriac. Her assistant, Kathleen is also great. They have an in house lab, too, which makes getting your blood drawn easy. I have seen Dr.Bullock as well. He is a very personable man, and takes his time as well. I've never felt rushed. One thing I would agree with, on other posts, is the billing. Linda used to be really on top of things; I will forever be indebted to her for helping me fight a $20,000 bill I got from Stanford, 14 years ago( I ended up paying $0). I have called over the past few years about different things and have never gotten a call back? This is weird given her former attentiveness. Maybe she has too much on her plate? The handful of times i went here i wasnt very pleased. each time i went i was seen by Dr Godin, who is very disrespectful and rude. the las time i went i had very serious stomach issues and was bleeding alot when i went to the restroom. Dr Godin told me to go home and wait till i can get an apointment at a GI doctor. He didnt give me any medicine or insight to what it could be or anything to solve the problem. after leaving this office i went to my old doctors office where i live now. turns out i had cancerous polyps in my intestines that needed to be removed.
