Unimpressed. Work on your bedside manner and listening to the patient instead of the wonderfulness and conclusiveness of your own questions.

First thing you need to know--it will take months--yes, literally months--to get an appointment. When I reacted in disbelief, I was told unapologetically "Stanford in a teaching facility our doctors are only in a couple of days a week". Seeing patients is not the priority of this center. Second thing to know--you will get mysteriously charged additional copays months after your appointment. It turns out that the doctors do not charge copay by appointment, but by "topic". When I questioned the additional copay, I was told I must have asked the doctor a question unrelated to what my appointment was schedule for so each additional question can be charged a separate copay. Are you kidding me? Finally, and most importantly, again Standford is a teaching hospital--if you require surgery, or treatment, I highly advise that you ask that the interns/students do not work on you. I did not, and I physically paid dearly for it!!

First, I want to correct something another reviewer said. He said it takes months to get an…read moreappointment. In the fifteen years I've been going there, I've almost always gotten an appointment within a week. Even better is that they recently started offering same-day appointments. You only have to make an appointment if there's one specific doctor you Just call first thing in the morning and you'll likely get in that day. Both Dr. Richard Lee (who sadly is no longer there) and now Dr. Crump have given me first-class treatment. I've always been treated well there. When was very open to alternative therapy for getting my blood pressure down. Thanks to his guidance and openness, I'm now off my hypertension medication completely! But the appointment that stood out most for me was when I fell and was in insane amounts of ankle pain. Dr. Crump examined it and said that it was at worst a hairline fracture. I asked if he should x-ray it. His response put a smile on my face. He said, "We could do an x-ray, but the treatment would be the same." In today's broken fee-for-service medical industry, it was refreshing to have a doctor who wasn't suggesting unnecessary procedures to get paid more by insurance companies. In short, I've always gotten first-class treatment from Stanford Family Practice and will be going there as long as possible.

Just like I'm petrified of going to the Dentist, going to the Doctor is equally as scary for me…read more I've been avoiding my "annual" medical checkup for 10 years. My wife has been on my ASS for five plus years about getting my butt in to see a Doc. Recently I have run out of excuses and my wife made an appointment for me. I didn't have a regular doctor so my wife did her research and thought Dr. Chen would be the one for me. He is Board Certified which I don't know what exactly that means, but supposedly it's a good thing. He is accepting new patients which at the time of the appointment was a bad thing. His office is close by our house which again is a good thing. Wait time in the lobby is kept to a minimum....if you stop and think about it, this can be a bad thing. He completed his undergrad at Brown which is the same school as my sister in-law, good thing? So how was my first visit? It was painless and strangely enjoyable. It turns out we had many common interests and has a broad knowledge beyond just the medical world. Excellent Doctor and would not hesitate recommending him to anyone who has been procrastinating a check up.

He is well plugged into the PAMF system and thus can recommend other doctors. He is quite responsive to emails and extremely attentive during office visits. No medical system is perfect but quality is measured by people not systems, and Doctor Chen is a great example of what personal care should be.

We recently tried One Medical via Amazon…read more This service was advertised as a $49.99 virtual healthcare visit.  Upon learning that we were not physically in the US (we were in France at the time) the doctor said that he is not able to consult. Following my short explanation of the issue, he reiterated that he could not help and I should be seen in person at an urgent care type facility.  This entire call lasted less than 5 minutes.   Imagine the surprise when, a couple of weeks later, I received a bill for $230 with reason as "New Patient Office Visit: Complex".   I reached out to One Medical saying that (1) this was not an office visit (2) it certainly wasn't complex and (3) the rate for a video consult is $49.99. All I received in response was a convoluted boilerplate saying that somewhere/somehow I had picked a different path than Amazon's advertised $49.99 service, resulting in much higher billing for the same service. This response totally ignored the fact that it was not "an office visit" and there is nothing "complex" if the physician is unable to consult.    My subsequent email reiterating that this was not an office visit, that the virtual meeting lasted less than 5 mins, was by no means complex and the only outcome was the suggestion to go to an urgent care facility went unanswered. Yet the bills just keep coming. To me, this is a clear case of bait and switch wrapped around overbilling with incorrect service description. Needless to say, I have no plans to pay this outrageous and improper bill. Moreover, if One Medical do not address their disengenous practice of claiming a brief and utterly useless chat with someone who was not able to offer any medical opinion or input as a "complex visit", I plan to broadly expose this practice on social media, and report it to compliance, health authorities, consumer protection as well as to Amazon executives as they should re-evaluate their relationship with such a shady operation.

My three little boys have a variety of allergies and are all subject to asthma/wheezing, so we've gotten to know Dr. Cummings over several years now... and I'm thankful that she is here to help us sort through the associated complex and stressful issues. She's got the experience and research knowledge to know what she's doing -- and during my interactions she's demonstrated both a friendly bedside manner and a balance between confidence and caution that I find reassuring. Of course with allergies as with lots of other ailments, doctors are still learning -- so even the experts can often not tell you the "right answer" for how to manage a particular allergy. And it's no fun bringing your little guys in to be poked and prodded each year for an allergy test, especially when (as on our last visit) my three year old's uncomfortable skin test got botched and had to be repeated. But as with most things, no pain, no gain. And since we are trying to do our very best to keep our little guys safe and comfortable over the long haul, we're going to keep coming to Dr. Cummings for the best advice we can get.

I've been told I'm allergic/sensitive to chemicals, and there's no known way to treat that. Dr Cummings was highly recommended to me, and I went to her as a last ditch effort. She took a look at all my previous testing, listened to me talking about my symptoms, and pinpointed my main (though not only) problem immediately - untreated silent reflux - and gave me a recommendation for her colleague, Dr Chan. She was right on the money. Dr Chan tested me, put me on meds, and I've never been better. Unlike other allergists I've gone to, Dr Cummings knows what can mimic allergy problems, and who to send you to. And I'm really grateful for that expertise, and her wonderful bedside manner.
