I would marry Grace Noodle and have its babies. The depth of flavor is another level. I feel healed every time I have this broth. The noodles are PERFECT. Comfort in a bowl. The service is always quick and the woman that takes orders is always pleasant. This is not the place to go if you want a fine dining experience. It's cozy and casual and it works. The space Isn't huge but it has a good amount of seating options and never feels overcrowded. They do play gospel/christian music (quietly) the entire time but honestly I think the comfort I get from the ramen cancels out any childhood trauma this may conjure up. My parter had the Sauce Yaki Soba that was fantastic with crunchy vegetables and tender noodles. My Mano Tofu Don had a wonderful flavor unfortunately for me the tofu was very silky and I prefer extra form. The taste was very good but the texture didn't work for me. Took the family out tonight, this place is a decent ramen spot, so much potential. Not trying be too critical because for starters it was only 2 people running the house (kitchen and dining). I think once that is addressed maybe the experience will be better. Almost 30 bowls for one Chef. Apparently the "it" place to try so we came here for the noodles on a cold day and we were pleased. I got the Tonkatsu ramen while Hubby had the Tan Tan one. His was a spicy one and when I tried the broth all I tasted was heat. He tasted mine and liked mine more. Mine had more depth of flavor as if it had sat on the stove for hours vs. his which was more of a let's just add as much spice to it so that you can't taste anything else. Mine had the requisite pork but it did melt in my mouth. Also had the fish balls cut into fine slices that had the pretty pink on the inside, the seaweed, half a boiled egg, and veggies but somehow my camera malfunctioned so my photos disappeared but thankfully hubby's didn't. After watching the movie Tampopo, my friends and I were craving some ramen. ***LOCATION*** Located on Main st in Shockoe Bottom. There is free street parking out front and nearby or pay parking lot not too far. You can also take the 14 or pulse bus here. ***EXPERIENCE*** We came on a Monday night. It's always lovely finding spots open on Mondays in Richmond. We were a group of four. There are a lot of seating options available. There was one person working at the front/as our server. She was kind and always came at the right moment. On this visit I got Tonkotsu ramen and a lychee ramune. My friends ordered the shoyu ramen. They loved the ramen they ordered. I find that every place prepares their ramen differently and has dishes that are better than others. I wished the tonkotsu's broth was a bit thicker and more flavorful, beside that, it was fine. I really enjoyed my lychee ramune. My friend's melon ramune was reminiscent of bubble gum. They were really sweet about splitting the bill here. ***PRICE*** My ramen and drink cost about $19 (this includes tip). ***BATHROOM*** There are two gender neutral bathrooms. ***CONCLUSION*** I was excited to try a new place! Although I found my tonkotsu to just be ok, my friends seemed to really like their shoyu ramen. If I'm ever in the area, I'd be excited to try other things from their menu. read more

I have been here probably about 10 times overall but didn't want to submit a review until I tried their carry out. Usually my order is Wanton Ramen with chicken and an order of grilled dumplings. I also really enjoy their shrimp and veggie cold noodles. I'd say after trying the take out I'd still give them 5 stars but definitely prefer dining in. I appreciate how they packaged my take out to avoid the noodles getting soggy and the broth was still just as hot when I got home. The chicken felt a bit dry so maybe if I get takeout again I'll try pork (have never had that issue before). I always like exploring this area because of its rich history, and the fact that there are many little small restaurants along Main Street. This is a classic Ramen house with a variety of takes on the ubiquitous Asian dish. I had the seafood Ramen, and my son had a pork Ramen. I can't remember the exact name of his but the broth was absolutely fantastic! There is something very comfortable about a nice big bowl of Ramen on a winter day. I've gobbled up my food too quickly to post a picture, but there seems to be many on this page that look exactly like what I had. The gomoku yakisoba is basically crispy noodles drenched in thick gravy that's full of yummy ingredients such as quail egg, shrimp, veggies, etc. The pork yakisoba is dry fried noodles with lots of toppings. I'd say a good yakisoba would have that charred flavor to it because it's cooked with high heat (hopefully in a wok). And I think this yakisoba delivers. We also got the seafood ramen, which has broth that tastes similar to the gomoku but without that layer of charred/fried flavor. What up Yelp! We popped into Grace Noodle about an hour ago and I'm already writing the review. I was rolling with two ladies and we started off with apps - the Turkey Bacon Roll and the Spicy Wanton Shrimp. I liked the texture of the turkey bacon roll, the crunch of the cucumber with the warmth of the turkey bacon make for a neat combination. The ladies weren't feelin' it but I was. The Spicy Wanton Shrimp was just OK for me. Before you knew it the Ramen bowls had arrived. I mailed it in and ordered the quintessential Shoyu Ramen which is a soy sauce based broth. Wifey Pooh had the Gomoku ramen which is a fish or seaweed stock and she felt hers was the best. Lastly The Jameson drinking champion of 2019 had a miso based ramen bowl. I don't think she cared for it all that much. Wifey Pooh and I enjoyed our hot bowls of Ramen on such a cloudy bleh day in Richmond. I'm fairly sure we will go back during these cold months in Virginia. Especially since that other ramen place can't be bothered to open until 12.
