What to say about my favorite nail salon.. I've been to many in the Colonie and Guilderland area, and Grace Nail is by far the friendliest place I've been too. Very very clean as well. All pedicure chairs have water proof plastic bags that line the foot bath and are changed each time. Aimee is the owner/manager who moved from City Nail on Wolf Rd to start her own salon. She may be the nicest lady in the capital district. Always greets you with a smile and is genuinely happy to see you. Remembers your name and asks you about things you may have talked to her in the past. Pedicure with a normal amount of people takes about 45 mins. They do a great job with gel nail which also takes around 45 mins. If you are looking for a go-to nail place in which you are treated with genuine kindness and great service, Grace Nail is for you! I will continue to come. *big plus: their gel polish change (not manicure) is only $18 as opposed to other salons that charge $35. read more

STAY AWAY! (to the person who left a comment below mine from June) Yes, you should ALWAYS read the reviews ... It's typically a tale tell sign when the place is completely empty during "rush hour" to stay away.... I used to go to this place in the past and decided to stop in to get my nails done, because I wasn't near my salon and was in the area. I got ANC and was unimpressed from the get go. I sat with aluminum foil and acetone on my nails for 30 mins (yes spoke up about this) as it was removing my prior ANC nails... they acted dumbfounded when I asked them to take it off ... 10/15 mins max is what it should take not 30! it was actually burning my fingers....moving on... The Tech began the ANC process and started dipping my nails a total of 5/6 times for each nail-I asked her to stop because they were going to be too thick and hard to file down and were extremely sharp/jagged on the edges. Needless to say, I should've left when they removed my old ANC. The edges were ridged and the dip was so thick on my nails, again YES I said something, I asked them to fix it. Instead of using the electronic tools to file down the nail they used a good old fashioned nail file. I asked her to use the electronic one to not only save on time but to make it easier on her and she just kept going about her business. Let's just say my nails were very rigid, uneven, thick and honestly...as if my 5 year old did them. I always speak up about services I don't like especially since I'm paying for them. I SPOKE UP about everything i didn't like AND I was STILL unhappy about it. I left and went to my normal salon where they gave me an entirely new ANC set and told me to never go back to "that" salon again. NOTED-I will never return here! read more

One review said their ANC nails were horrid, well, speak up!!! Give them a chance to fix it. I went there today on the fly, I told them the time I had available to me and what I would like done. Do not come here. I arrived at 10 AM right when they opened and I had to wait an hour to be seen and helped. When I first saw it down I told the guy that was doing my nails that I wanted a new set my old set taken off because I had my nails on for too long my natural nails were so long underneath. He starts filing them and doing all this other stuff 30 minutes later I realize he's not gonna take my old nails off and he's just gonna give me a full so I told him to take my nails off and give me a new set like I said. So a whole 30 minutes was wasted just on that. It took him two hours to even shape cut file my nails like why is it taking two hours it's ridiculous. I said I wanted a design and that I want to in gel, typically other nail salons that I go to put like the acrylic liquid and powder solution thing on top of the tips that they put on which makes it acrylic and then they do the design and gel however you want. Here apparently they put ANC base coat on your nails and then just start painting them with the gel that you asked for. Before the nail tech started to do my design I told him that he needed to add a base coat on my nail because of the fact that you could literally see my nail my nail was not blended with the tips at all which you'll be able to see in the photos. him and another worker there assured me no and it will be fine. after he was finished with my design i realized. i in fact needed a top coat. u can literally see through my nails. ridiculous. i spent 4 hours there and i didn't want to sit there any longer. i literally hate my nails i expressed the issue to them and they still charged me $50 for nails i hate and only gave me a $10 discount. in my 20 years i've never seen anyone not do a base coat and think it's okay to be able to see the line of nail underneath. i'm never coming here again. i'm so sad i was so excited to get these nails done read more

I was in town for a wedding and wanted to treat myself to a nice mani/pedi. Not too many nails salons in Albany have decent Yelp reviews and this place seemed like my best option. I walked in around 3pm on a Friday afternoon and they told me it would be about a 20 minute wait. Several women walked in after me and were seated immediately, but I just assumed they had appointments. It became clear that might not have been the case and I was shown to a pedicure chair after about 35 minutes of waiting. My nail tech seemed exasperated with me from the moment I sat down. Her attitude persisted through the whole experience. The massage chair was great, however the pedicure was just about average. I also got a gel manicure. It didn't chip and was great in that regard, but again, the attitude I experienced knocked this experience down a star. While my nails were drying I got a shoulder massage (although obviously perfunctory), it was a nice touch. Everyone else in the salon seemed friendly and attentive. They had some really great nail art displays and if I was into that kind of thing, I definitely would have gotten that add-on. For a regular pedicure and a gel manicure it was $45. The salon itself was clean and had a nice atmosphere all around as well as a great nail polish collection. read more

Even worse than the one star given. Spent $80 including tip to have ANC and pedi done today. The most horrible ANC application I have ever had done which wasn't much better than their treatment of a customer. My ANC came out with a matte finish like someone had pressed their fingers into my nails while wet. I tried to tell them my nails should have a glossy finish, they put a coat of gel over the finished ANC. It bubbled and begin chipping right away. I came here because I saw that it had 4 stars and good reviews. I was the only person there so you'd think I'd get really good service. The people weren't very friendly, just kind of wanted to get my nails done and get me out of there. He didn't really take the time to make sure my nails came out nicely they're a little uneven and I tried to tell him but he just was like ok and kept going. And then when he finished my nails he stood up and walked behind me and started giving me a neck and shoulder massage...which was alright but he didn't ask and I think they should before they do that because some people don't like to be touched. If he had asked I would have declined anyway. But it was a nice gesture. Decent pricing and really cool designs. I just wasn't extremely impressed with my experience. read more

I don't usually leave reviews unless the establishment is notably exquisite or the latter. This salon happens to be the latter. Nobody spoke even a tidbit of conversational English so they kept ping- ponging back and forth to each other just to figure out what I wanted done- not serious but definitely frustrating. The spa pedicure was relaxing but failed to meet expectations regarding "callous removal"(for $35 I wasn't going to stress it). The scenario that really inspired this review was when it was time to get a full set. After my pedicure I was told to sit down and wait while they took other customers that just came in for pedicures and waxing. About 30 minutes later I sat and watched in frustration while people that walked in after me went straight to getting their nails done after their pedicure. As I'm rethinking my decision of going to a different nail salon than my usual a woman walked in that was there while I was getting my pedicure complaining that the top coat of her gel was still tacky and they had to redo it. Que an even longer wait. When they finally decided to acknowledge my existence, despite the multiple suggestions i made to soak my nails before getting a new set during my pedicure she proceed to rip off my acrylic nails with a nail tip. I winced in horror while she kept asking If I was ok and continued. To make matters even more patronizing the tech that did my feet started soaking off another woman's nails while she got her feet done which I had requested prior to even getting my pedicure and was denied. I was absolutely appalled! I decided to troop through. After ripping up my nail beds and multiple insincere apologies the tech doing my nails didn't even ask if I wanted my nails cut before the tips were applied and paid absolutely no attention to my cuticles. I stared in shock as I have never paid for such lazy unprofessionalism in my life. The whole time o was cheerful and trying to be understanding but they took my kindness for weakness. I repeatedly had to ask her to even out the nails as she tried to leave chunks of acrylic on the skin of my fingers and lumps in my nails. When I asked her to smooth it out she became irate and started muttering in her language to the other techs. All I wanted was a decent set of nails.....long story short they're under new management and it seems they have no prior experience. My nails came out ok after several prompts but my experience was horrible. I watched as they offered other customers drinks and massages while I was getting attitude for wanting an even nail. I spent about $70 and left feeling disrespected and patronized. With all of the nails salons on the region I can hardly fathom a good reason to pay for neglect and unprofessionalism. I would be able to put up with the snide vibes had they did a good job but their work is as poor as their attitude. Maybe because I didn't fit their criteria of somebody worth respecting they thought that I was somebody they could cut corners with but looks can be deceiving as I do nails myself and just didn't have the energy.. maybe because I'm young and cheerful they thought that I wasn't worth a quality job while they went out of their way to brow-nose the older suburban looking woman. Either way I won't ever submit to the unsavory travesty of a "relaxing spa day" from this facility to find out. The complete disregard of another human expressed by these people was despicable especially when I paid good money for services. Just moved to the Schenectady area and have been on the hunt for a decent nail salon. I was able to go on a Friday morning and they had me in the pedicure chair right away. They had a special for a regular mani-pedi for $30 dollars, which is what I usually get. I will definitely go back for my next nail appointment. read more

I came in this evening for their $20.00 pedicure and I felt like I paid for the spa pedicure! This basic pedi was phenomenal!!! They use the file on the nails and corners of the nails which I loved, they actually spend time getting the dead skin off the bottom of your feet and scrubbing them, they even used the hot stone and hot towels and I got a wonderful massage all for $20.00!!!!!!! I recently moved here from out of state and have been searching for that perfect place. After reading some yelp reviews I decided to try it out. My first experience was great, wonderful selections of colors and the nice woman who worked there did my gel manicure and it was amazing..lasted over two weeks. I also got their spa pedicure and it was just OK..the younger man who gave me my pedicure decided to completely file down my paper thin healing toenail from what remained after falling off a month before (sorry if that was TMI). I was really confused and almost sad why he did that because it stopped all previous growing progress. After the holidays I returned for another pedicure and gel manicure. It was a little busy since I had gone on a Sunday, but the wait wasn't too bad. When I finally got to a chair though I ended up sitting and waiting for another 20 minutes which was fine but of course I got the young man who ruined my poor toe last time, so I politely made it clear to not cut or file that toe, and he did that. However, the pedicure itself took a whole hour because for some reason he decided to wipe off and redo 4 toes about 3 different times.... Now on to my gel manicure, which I figured would be done by the same lady but no I sit down and it's the young man who is going to give my manicure. I'm sitting there and not once are my hands soaked in anything to loosen my cuticles, he just starts slamming away with tools. After about 25 min of his OCD cuticle plucking I'm finally getting some gel onto my fingers. Honestly I would've rather just gone to this place and borrower the supplies and performed my own manicure. The gel polish wasn't even close to being at the bottom of my nail, and I'm no rookie to gel manicures, so when someone is applying the thinnest layers and repeatedly stroking my nail with the brush like its regular paint, I can tell they don't know what they're doing. After about 45 min now, he starts wiping off several okay done nails and redoing them !!! Why?!? I had been at this place for two hours now and should've been home at this point. I finally had to tell him I had somewhere to be so he'd hurry up. Once I was done being tortured I looked at my nails and was disgusted but really just wanted to cry because I knew I still had to pay for these awful things. I didn't want to make a scene and say anything to the woman because there were a few people being serviced. To make matters worse my manicure chipped at the bottoms of my nails only TWO DAYS after getting them done. That has never happened to me. All in all I know I will not return to this place again. After reading a few good reviews regarding Grace Nail and Spa I decided to give it a try because it is close to my house. I almost felt like I was in the wrong salon. The woman who did my pedicure did not seem to speak a word of English. I told her 3 times the pedicure water was too hot. She just looked at me and did not reply. The water was so hot my feet and legs looked like I was sunburned. You could clearly see the a red line on my leg where the water had been in contact with my skin. I pointed to my feet and she smiled. Finally after a bit another worker was walking by he points to my legs and said something to her in their language. I told him that I mentioned several times the water is too hot. Later as she was polishing my nails I had to point out she missed the right side of my big toe nail. After putting on the 2 coats of polish she started to gather my things to head to manicure station. She had not put on any top coat. When I asked why there was no top coat the gentleman who did my manicure came over and proceeded to put the top coat on. While in the salon I got a chance to really look around and take in the surroundings. There were water stains on the ceiling and and no less than 7 different strands of fly tape hanging from different areas in the salon. I might have let that go if it was mid summer but it is December in the Northeast. The gentleman who did my manicure was good and did a terrific job. I would recommend him if he worked at a different salon. I would not recommend this salon to anyone at all. read more

For some reason it's hard to find a good place to get a good leg waxing in the Capital Region. After moving here a year ago I finally tried Grace Nail and Spa. They were able to wax me right away after calling for an appointment. There is ample parking in the Colonie Plaza and the place itself is clean and spacious. However, there are two small beds. Would be better t have one bigger bed or just one of those small beds in the middle of the room so the waxer can position herself well. The lighting needs to be better. They should not use the applicator since it causes more pain just to apply the wax; use a pot of wax and sticks instead. Use paper sheets, not plastic. The plastic sticks to the skin even without wax on it. Plus laying on plastic is very uncomfortable. A lot of areas were missed, so I discovered patches of unwaxed areas after the visit and my hair grows long on the legs. Please don't use baby powder after as it caused a lot of problems on my skin later. I hope they make the improvements because they seem to be nice folks. read more
