Beautiful shop with a full on display of pastries, breads and sweets! Friendly staff too. I got a couple of pre-ordered croissants to go and it was packed nicely in a box. Plain, almond and cheese all had same texture, big height, very airy with visible layers and bubbles; light with some chew. Cheese and almond flavours were subtle. The almond didn't have much filling inside. The kouign amann was the driver for coming here. Never had it before but I heard it is the "fattiest pastry in all of europe" (according to New York Times) because of how much butter they use! The pastry was heavy (kind of like a butter tart dense), and incredibly buttery! There was a crytalized sugar layer at the bottom that tastes like the top of a creme brulee, caramel-y. It was also flaky, crunchy and overall delicious! You don't need more than a few bites as it's very rich. Unique treat that I'd come back for when I'm craving butter ;) Thank you for offering a variety of sweets and for being on top of it!

ABSOLUTELY get their BREAD PUDDING (made with their croissants!!). I highly recommend reheating it in an oven. It was so moist and hearty and crisp on top and corners. Mixture of raisins, chocolate, slivered almonds. Every bite was cohesive yet a surprise! We also tried their Kouigamann (basically a carmalized and more delicious cousin of cruffin) Each layer is pull apart buttery deliciousness while being crisp on top

Had the chance to visit this patisserie a few times in the past weeks after hearing positive reviews from others and reading about them online. Specifically, I was looking for a bakery that would be comparable to the amazing Patisserie au Kouign Amann in Montreal. This is not quite it, as the kouign amann is shaped differently, is smaller, and is a bit on the sweeter/"almost too sweet" side, and thus is a little bit of a different experience. Having said that, the kouign amann is still quite yummy and I love the crispiness/caramelizedness on the outside contrasting with the softness of the inside - I would get it again. Their croissants are delicious. I personally like the plain one the most, and pop it in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds so it's warm before eating. I also really enjoyed the almond croissant and the LEMON TART! I may just really be craving the taste of lemon these days, but it was beautiful, I especially loved the crust. Wonderful experience, will return!

Amazing French patisserie at Bathurst and Lawrence serving up freshly baked desserts, breads and BOGO ice cream scoops each Thursday (all summer long)!! For $45 get a special edition croissant box. Mine came with with mushroom and brie, curry cauliflower, kouign amann, cruffin (coconut raspberry - fillings change daily), traditional butter croissant, strawberry and rhubarb, passion and pride croissant with passionfruit filling , chocolate chip cookie, chocolate & caramel croissant, double baked almond with nutella and a Saint-Tropez, a cream-filled brioche. If that's too much, opt instead for their $15 Russian roulette mystery box available on Uber Eats. My gf ordered one and received close to $25 worth of goods (they're super generous here as they were with my box too) Also, starting this Thursday, drop in between 5-9 PM and receive BOGO scoops all summer long! I know I'll be back.

Rare to find a place in Toronto that makes these kouign amann pastries. Totally worth trying and Gouter makes a really good one. If you've never tried it, and you're in the area you should pick one up and other pastries as well! There's also parking in front which is nice.

There is a special little place, a hidden gem you might call it, that I wanted to share with you guys. If you haven't decided on where you're getting your Christmas log or Christmas desserts from you have to check out Goûter @gouterbyra. Their holiday specials were amaaaazing. The owner/pastry chef is a freaking star! . The gingerbread croissants were so delicious, creamy, and full of gingerbread flavour. . The Kouign Amann was my absolute favourite. This pastry is a buttery, flakey, caramelized delicacy created to make people addicted ().Dominique Ansel Bakery has a world renowned version of that pastry called the DKA, but in my humble opinion Goûter's Kouign Amann is the better one.

Gouter is one of those hidden bakery gems in Toronto. A non descript and quiet spot in the very northern edge of Toronto. It does require effort to get here and it's not easily accessible by mass transit. That being said, I think for anyone who lives in the area should grab their car keys and give those freshly made croissant a bite... or two... or many. It is such a simple spot and deceivingly so... you'd never realize that all the magic of these pastries and vienoissorie is happening right behind a wall by their very hand. None of this purchased frozen stuff... all made in house by their master pastry chef, Rodney. The store is pristine and clean but towards the edge of minimalist. The cute mural on the back wall is a nice break from the simple whites. It's mostly take out but there is a few tables you can sit at. It was completely empty and quiet when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. When I first entered, the wafts of butter is alluring... this is a very good sign and it was as they had a fresh batch of croissants. IN THE AFTERNOON! How amazing is that. I knew looking at the desserts that I had to grab a few... a lot of eye catching details, fresh fruit, and swirls to make any dessertarian happy. They also have lots of in house made ice cream and chocolates to those who don't like pastries. In other words, this is your happy place if you love French treats. Lemon Tart - With cute little peaks of meringue doting the top of the tart, you notice there is a glint of gold ... it's not paint. It's real gold leafs decorating the tart. With a tender and super fragile crust, it holds a gentle light lemon curd. It's not as bold as the North American version but it's also not as sweet. So for those who love a hint of lemons and not a tart pucker, this might be your preference. Just as tip, you plan to take this with you in the car... don't. I had all the tarts I brought home be broken in multiple pieces before I even had the chance to take it out of the box. And I had the box laid flat on the floor in a slow drive home (401 traffic was bruuuutal). 4/5 for flavour ... leaning towards 3.5/5 cause there's really no chance of leaving it intact for a gift later on Berry Tart - a pretty tart with lots of berries on top ... love the fact that all the strawberries were red and rip all the way through. Too many times I've seen fresh berries used but it lacked any flavour with it having a white core. I also do have to appreciate how they used a smaller strawberry... I'm pretty sure it's not the French famed varietal but much better than the tasteless Florida or California giants we get here in Toronto. Anyhow, this one was definitely on the later flavour .... still beautifully done. Tender butter crust, vanilla pastry cream that is light, and lots of berries. It's just missing that wow factor that the lemon tart had more of. This one also broke apart badly... more so than the lemon tart. 3.5/5 Pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) - I ate this one fresh in the bakery and was rewarded with layers of croissants flying around as I bit in. It is honestly one of the lightest croissants I've had AND YET completely buttery. How?? Most of the time I'm used to croissant that can double as a bun cause it's chewy or heavy but not here. Honestly... one of my favourite croissants I've had to date! 5/5 Overall, definitely a worthwhile trek if you're in the area OR a croissant lover. I dont think there is one better in all of North Toronto or even GTA ... it definitely puts some good downtown bakeries to shame for flakey and buttery croissants.

They have introduced a high-end gourmet macaron with their iconic logo on it. It is called Eugenie, named after Empress Eugenie, patron of the arts. There are only 8 iconic flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla, Pistachio, Caramel, Rose, Orange Blossom, Blackcurrant Violette, and Marie Antoinette tea. Eugénie is an unexpected marriage of textures, with a crunchy biscuit, a melting heart and a crunchy chocolate coating. This Union Station location is only a kiosk, rather than a full patisserie. It opened in Oct 2024. They thought they were only going to be there until Feb 2025, but as of 2025-06-23, they are still there. It is opposite Union Samples. They mostly sell macarons ($4.50 each!) here, but there are also a few bottled drinks, chocolate bars, gift boxes, yule logs, and gift cards. The customer service was good. Louis-Ernest Ladurée was the founder of Ladurée in 1862. There is free WiFi from Union Station. The kiosk is wheelchair accessible. There are washrooms in Union Station. We remembered this small Laduree cart, so we went to see if it was still there. It was! Success! After a quick look at their many flavors, we opted for the Marie Antoinette ("Two light blue macaron shells filled with a smooth cream infused with Marie-Antoinette tea"). These things are five bucks each (!) but I can't deny that they're completely delicious. The ones we ate were very fresh and packed with flavor. Even though I gobbled it up in about two bites, I didn't regret the cost at all. This is top tier stuff.

Cold, Callous, and Completely Disrespectful…read more I ordered a Mother's Day delivery for my terminally ill mother--her last. It never arrived. No warning, no apology. I had to chase them down just to get a refund. When I asked for a goodwill gesture, they ignored me. My partner called and emailed--only silence and empty promises. They took her number and then disappeared. Their "by a mother, for mothers" branding is a sick joke. They showed zero empathy or decency when it mattered most. Their silence was cruel and unforgivable. This isn't a business--it's a heartless, soulless operation. Avoid them.

This patisserie in the path is such a quiet place that barely has customers every time I've walked by ...now I know why. There was only one person when I stopped by, popped in to grab a quick little treat for a coworker's birthday. The one girl working didn't acknowledge me at all until she had no other choice, not a simple "I'll be with you in a second" or even a glance/nod over. Vibes were very off. Also she was the slowest mover I've ever seen, it felt like all her movements were in slow-mo from wrapping, packaging the processing payment. I've literally never seen a human worker move at that pace. Even after the other customer wrapped up and left it took her at least another minute before looking up at me. When I picked my item, again... she was moving at a pace where natural selection would've definitely taken her out. Not sure what was going on but it was weird. The air was stiff as there wasn't any customer service, kindness or even welcoming in the store. And the audacity of the machine to ask for a tip???? For what? Packing up a pastry at a snails pace? Tipping culture has really gotten out of hand. Grabbed my item and left, with no intent of ever returning if I'm paying premium prices for pastries, there are much better, friendlier and QUICKER places to go to. +1 star for the pretty pastry.

From the moment you step in, the atmosphere feels calm and inviting. The soft pastel tones, warm lighting, and minimalist Japanese-inspired décor make it such a peaceful escape from the city's buzz. It's the kind of café where you want to linger a little longer -- whether you're catching up with friends, reading a book, or just enjoying a slow afternoon treat. Their drinks are excellent -- carefully crafted and beautifully presented. The matcha latte is smooth and earthy with a creamy finish, and their latte is perfectly roasted with a subtle sweetness. You can tell they put real care into every cup. For something different, the black sesame latte and strawberry milk are also worth trying -- fun, flavorful, and photo-worthy! The desserts are light yet indulgent, true to the café's Japanese-French style. The cream puffs, chiffon cakes, and cookies strike that perfect "not too sweet" balance. Everything tastes fresh, delicate, and thoughtfully made. The texture and flavor remind me of the kind of pastries you'd find in a Tokyo café -- elegant and satisfying without being heavy. The staff is friendly and polite, and they always keep the space spotless and organized. Even when it's busy, there's a relaxed rhythm that makes the experience enjoyable. It's a small café, so seating can fill up fast, but that's part of its charm -- an intimate little gem where you can savor your drink and dessert at your own pace.
