Visiting the family coming in from Boston the folks told us about this little place in Wareham Crossing The place looked nice and spacious The environment was cozy. The waitress was warm friendly and attentative to nearly empty drinks. The Duck fried rice was out of this world, the ribs were just okay but the samples of every other appetizer including the shrimp teriyaki chicken and crab Rangoon were phenomenal. And the coolest part. They have a Droid that rolls through the dining room delivering take out orders from the kitchen to out front to be paid for and picked up. As a Star Wars Fan this was very fun to see droid tech. But back to the biggest reason to come here, The food overall was so totally worth the price which averaged about $12.50 per item. I just had lunch there and it was ok. I was disappointed in the General Gau because the chicken were frozen nuggets. Why can't they use fresh chicken any more?? So I'm sad to report another Chinese restaurant is off my list. The place was very clean and owner and wife were very friendly and service was great. I used to frequent Gourmet Garden but the new staff has done everything they can to make it hard to go back. The one server runs around trying to manage the whole restaurant and tend the bar while the gentleman sits at the front counter and acts put out when you want to sit at a table and he has to seat you. Has turned into a takeout place but the food quality is down, costs are way up and the portion sizes much smaller. Not worth the money anymore. read more

We came here because I had a groupon and they offered low carb sushi. Low carb sushi, I was so excited to see what it would be and then it came out. As you can see from my photos, I wasn't excited as it really wasn't sushi. The torched salmon, even though it was tasty, was just a salmon salad, not low carb sushi. The tuna low carb sushi came out and it was just a big blob of tuna wrapped in cucumber. Keep in mind, the tuna was tasty just wasn't what I expected. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was not busy at all. It wasn't late but still it was maybe 6:00 so I would assume some people would be there. All in all the food was tasty, it just wasn't what I expected/hoped for in a low sushi option so not sure if we would rush back. read more

I have been here twice. Sushi has always been so fresh and the presentation has always been beautiful. The egg rolls are huge, not super greasy but the are super delicious! The Singapore noodles are amazing, they were cooked perfectly with just enough of a spicy kick. The moo goo gai pan is delicious, all the veggies tasted fresh and were cooked just the way I liked them el dente with that nice crunch . Also the staff is always so happy and friendly with outstanding quick service! All members of our party loved there food. This is our go to place when I visit my parents! read more

I have been to Gourmet Garden mostly for takeout, which have been excellent and with nice portions. A couple of days ago I sat down for an afternoon lunch and was again very happy with their food and staff. The dining area is pleasant with a nice distance from table to table. Everything I got was awful. They were 20 minutes late so most of my meal was comped because by the time it arrived, it was ruined. I got tempura and it was completely soggy when it got here, fried rice that was incredibly bland and only came with one tiny container of duck sauce, and edamame that wasn't even salted. We ordered take out sushi & two entrees. The sushi was good. The moo goo gai pan entree was awful. It was chicken and basically raw mushrooms with no other vegetables, in a very bland sauce. Much different that what I expected and get from other restaurants. The Gong Bao (Kung Pao) beef that was really good, just a little different style - the veggies were not diced up. This was the worst experience I've ever had!! We ordered the pupu for 2 and a beef lo mein. I let waitress know someone in my party had a shrimp allergy(the pupu includes fried shrimp) I asked if we could do double crab Rangoon instead of the fried shrimp as someone has an allergy to shrimp. She said yes okay no problem. Well come to the last bite of the egg roll and there was a piece of shrimp inside of the egg roll. Since when does an egg roll have shrimp in it???? Since when are people allergies not important?? When did restaurants become no negligent?? She proceeded to argue with me saying "you did not say that" she called over the manager who started the conversation with "she said you did not tell her" and I was appalled, he looked at us and shrugged his shoulders and repeated himself.We asked for our bill and left. It's very said that you can't count on establishment to pay close attention to an allergy. You are at their mercy when you decided to eat at an establishment that doesn't care to pay attention. Needless to say don't eat here if you have a type of allergy they will not give a damn. Luckily my family member had their (epi pen) epinephrine pen in the car and took it in enough time. While out running errands and shopping with the hubby in Wareham, I suggested trying this place for lunch as we still had a few more things to do and would be back too late to have something at home during our Saturday out. And it got to satisfy my craving for sushi as well! We started off with a Salt and Pepper chicken wings appetizer. In addition to 10 tasty wings on the plate, there was a nice little salad mix of chili peppers, scallions and some greens. Great start! We don't often eat Chinese food anymore, because, as good as it is, it can be too greasy, and that's bad. According to the hubby, a discerning eater, GG's food is quite the opposite. Their Three Delights dish he ordered tasted fresh and non greasy. Their sushi lunch specials are quite reasonable. I went for the Three Makies at $14.45 and ordered Alaskan Maki, Spicy Tuna Maki and Shrimp Tempura Maki; 18 pieces total. The last two Makies in particular were wonderful. No beer on tap, but a very minor quibble considering the quality of the dishes we had. It is a clean and attractive space. Service was quick, attentive and certainly friendly enough. There's a Hibachi bar off to the side, which were entertaining a couple of families with their kids, who I imagine have a good time with it. Presentation of our dishes was very nice. We will definitely be back to try more dishes and have one of their Mai Tai's, which, according to the menu, is a must try. If they must twist my arm... We've yet to try Stir Crazy in Pocasset, which I hear is quite good, but GG is currently our top pick for quality Chinese / Japanese cuisine in the area. And based on our visit today, this gets five stars, as it was complete satisfaction. read more

Disappointing experience. I've always had hesitation ordering any menu item other Chinese dishes at a Chinese establishment. Daughter wanted pad Thai though. She asked "why isnt there peanut sauce" on the dish? Certainly would've helped this bland offering. General Gao was likewise flavorless and quite scant. The beef egg fu young patties were surprisingly well done but the gravy was forgettable. Don't use it. The quality of the several maki rolls we ordered was acceptable but likewise generally flavorless. For the price paid this restaurant is really mediocre. Generic perhaps for an area with limited asian culture. I won't return. read more

The place is clean. Never crowded. The food is reasonable and delicious. We have been here a few times. They are not shy to come grab the dough when you are done eating. The place has the cleanest bathrooms. Plenty of parking. The same people here all the time they do not sleep. They take Groupon !! We love Cindy !! We only tried this place because there was a Groupon. I am an admitted sushi snob, and ive traveled for a living for 18 years, so I've had a LOT of sushi. Um. WOW! Totally surprised! We only had sushi. We had the Lenny Roll. Simple. Flippin delicious! We also got the New Wave Roll. That was super interesting and very good! We also got the Fire or Volcano something or another roll, which was INSANE delicious. We also got a Naruto Roll. Again, simple, but fabulous! We also got a few pieces of Salmon Sashimi. The presentation was very detailed and dedicated, like any good sushi place. The fish was VERY fresh, as we're the veggies in the rolls. We travel for a living for business, and we spend a lot of time out in the SouthWest, and California, where some of the best sushi in the country is, in my opinion. No flavor, weird sauces for pretty standard items - (the hoisin was particularly gross and was incredibly salty for a plum sauce) Greasy spring rolls, over cooked boneless spareribs you couldn't get your teeth through and if there was any crab in the crab Rangoon, I missed it completely.
