Here in Vegas, I usually associate Chinese food with either cheap take-out places, dim sum, or the "big box" style of restaurants like P.F. Chang's and Panda Express. Nothing against either of them, but it can be difficult to find a Chinese restaurant that actually makes me crave Chinese food. Which is why I was very pleasantly surprised when I found this place while I was driving around the Southwest in my new car and breaking it in. (Yes, I got a new car. That was why I haven't written any reviews in a while, but I digress.) Gourmet Asian BBQ, located on the corner of Rainbow and Warm Springs, and tucked behind an Albertson's, has only been around for four months or so, but the array of dishes they serve are not only the authentic Chinese dishes that you can't find anywhere else, but the restaurant and its flavor are very much in line with what you could find in authentic restaurants in Chinatown, but without the drive to that part of town! It helps that the restaurant interior is quite elegant and much cleaner than some of these places. Food-wise, it's excellent. During my first visit, I came looking for Hainan chicken rice and got it -- delicately poached chicken with flavorful rice and amazing sauces! Don't sleep on the garlic scallion sauce! But then my parents found out about the restaurant and how I'd gone there, and it's since become a regular on our restaurant rotation. Along with the Hainan chicken rice, standouts include their roast pork, the soy sauce chicken, their honey walnut shrimp, and their sizzling seafood platter. The service was excellent, too -- our server, Mandy, took great care of me and my parents during all three of our visits thus far! Needless to say, if you love Chinese food, want to support an up-and-coming business, and want to go somewhere far from the bustle of Chinatown, check out Gourmet Asian 888! Really great authentic Chinese food AND great service here. As soon as we walked here we were warmly greeted by the staff. The menu has a large variety of different authentic Chinese dishes accompanied by high quality photos to help you with your choices! We tried the beef chow fun, fried soft shell crab, barbecue pork, and hainan chicken. Each dish was served with generous portions and the taste was excellent! There wasn't a single dish that I didn't like. This restaurant took over the former space of Pho O Ten and prior to that DT's restaurant. I'm always looking for good authentic Asian cuisine and was really glad to have found a new spot in the Southwest area. The HK Roast Pork had the perfect balance of fat and meat with crispy skin and the Hainan Chicken was cooked well. The Laksa Noodle Soup could have used more coconut milk but otherwise, still very tasty. Excellent customer service provided by Kevin, the manager and the female server was a huge plus. The duck is still tasty and juicy, from the previous review I stated that the duck needed more meat and it indeed had more meat. This review is only for their Hainan chicken. It's aight. Well seasoned and steamed chicken was well done. The sauces were very mild and basic but my biggest gripe was the way they cut their chicken legs caused a lot of bone shards throughout the dish which made it extremely unpleasant when paired with a more mushy wetter than expected rice. Usually it's a lightly chicken stock enhanced rice with some aromatics but this one reminded me of what my nanny would make for me when I was 3. I'd pass on the Hainan chicken and rice. read more

Love to have a new HK bbq spot nearby and provide some much needed competition in the area. I ordered the 2 bbq rice plate with duck and soy sauce chicken. Both were flavorful and great quality. Delicious. The portion size was huge and lasted me 2 meals. My only feedback were that the greens were a little cold and that I could've used more of the ginger scallion sauce. I also got an iced green tea to go, which was only $3 but tasted like Bigelow; would rather they have a decent Chinese green or Jasmine and priced higher. The takeout process was easy and the customer service lady was really nice. Overall, the food had similar quality to Win Kee, although Win Kee might still be a smidge better. Walked in and place was nice, bright and friendly staff greeted us. Menu was filled with lots of our favorites. We ordered 1lb bbq pork, salt and pepper pork chops, hong kong pan fried noodles and a Hainan chicken plate. We ordered to go and it took about 10-15 min for food to be ready. We enjoyed the bbq pork- lots of flavor and good glaze. Salt and pepper pork was good- big pieces. The hong kong noodles were great-the gravy had lots of flavor. Another great place in the southwest. Grew up in the Southeast Asian region and Gourmet Asian 888 did not disappoint. They're a little newer and I can see they'll grow a following very quickly. The staff here is amazing and very accommodating. The place is larger than it looks outside... one can say it's bigger on the inside. The food is absolutely flavorful the portions are pretty large, so if you can't eat a lot, definitely share. I have to say, it's so good, we went there two weeks in a row. Can't wait to go back. Dare I say it? This place is BETTER than China Mama, I feel.. They may not have Crispy Beef or Pan Fried Bao. What they do have is an awesome menu paired with awesome flavors. Guys, I saw this New Chinese spot on Social media, Roasted Duck is tasty here, I think it's better than Roasted duck around in this area ( South West ) won't have to drive to Central area or Chinatown. Very convenient if you guys ever in the SW area. I'd ordered Won Ton noodle soup with Roasted duck. I think their broth is much better than most Chinese places around this town. Wow! What a wonderful surprise in the SW! Love this Asian BBQ spot. Used to go Win Kee down the street but this place is a little cheaper and tastes a little better. I bought one roasted duck and one soy sauce chicken. Both had just the right amount of marinade and meat was very tender. The duck is very moist and juicy and a decent amount of fat would still crispy skin without being too oily. The roast pork is also a great fine and the skin is very crispy and it's very meaty without having too much of a thick layer of just pure fat. There are wonton duck noodle soup was great where the wontons were well seasoned. Personally, the soup was on the lighter side and less salty side, which is what we prefer as we like to talk it up ourselves instead of it being too salty. I have been to this restaurant about 4 times in the last 4 weeks. Kevin and his lady server were great. Service was good however if they have more help when they are busy it could be amazing. Their friendly approach earns them 5 stars. This restaurant has two chefs. One for the bbq meats only and the other chef (his name is Ah Poh) for the rest of the items in the menu. Both are employees of the restaurant. The bbq meats are only okay if one is desperate for Chinese bbq meats. I think the bbq meats are a lot better at New Asian BBQ restaurant in China Town or at Wen Kee restaurant. The main chef Ah Poh is amazing. His Malaysian dishes are very authentic. His skills in cooking Malaysian style noodles is outstanding. He earns the highest 5 stars. He made us sambal prawns (off the menu) and Hokkien noodles (also off the menu) which tasted great. I think both should be on their menu. He also made a wonderful mixed noodle version (fried vermicelli and horfun) with egg and seafood. This chef is a gem. I hope he will stay with this restaurant for a long time. In the last four weeks, i noticed that the restaurant has gotten busier. We all know that when this happens and if the restaurant do not get enough help (servers and chefs), the quality of the food and service will become bad.
