We were immensely impressed at how FRIENDLY & welcoming all of the staffs were! We ordered the following: chicken fried rice; Peking duck; honey BBQ pork; salt & pepper pork chop; string beans; prawn noodles with sauce, and pan-fried dumpling. Everything tasted AMAZING. Gourmet Asian 888 is a welcome addition to the southwest part of Las Vegas. They are known for their Chinese BBQ amongst other Asian cuisine. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. We've been twice so far, and this is what we had: * Crispy Egg Noodle $18.99 + $3 combination (sauce separate) - My kids love Hong Kong-style Chow Mein, aka Jeen Mein. We typically prefer ordering this with the sauce on the side so the noodles stay crispy and crunchy. Their combination version has a nice mix of proteins and veggies in it. It was thoroughly enjoyed! We always get an extra set of noodles when ordering this dish anywhere. * BBQ Rice Plate Double $20.99 (Roast Pork & Roast Duck) - The Husband wanted to try out their BBQ dishes and went with this order so he can try two different proteins. He really enjoyed the roast pork, and I like the seasoning in their roast duck. * Singaporean Hainan Chicken $18.99 - I'm a big fan of Hainan Chicken and will order this whenever I see it offered on a menu. I typically only use the ginger scallion sauce, so definitely needed more of it. It also comes with a pickled carrots and daikon radish. This was what we got on our second visit: * Salt & Pepper Soft Shell Crab $17.99 - We all really enjoyed this dish and will definitely get this again on our next visit. It makes us want to order their Salt & Pepper Pork Chops since we like their flavor profile. * Singaporean Fried Rice Noodle $17.99 - It's been a long time since I've ordered Singaporean noodles and typically expect it to be bright yellow. It didn't have as much of a curry flavor and I was expecting. The chicken in that dish is exceptionally tender though. * Laksa Noodle Soup $18.99 - This is a generous dish that's fully loaded and definitely worth sharing. Again, the chicken was also super tender in this soup. It makes you want to eat more of their chicken! * Roast Duck Half $21.99 - I like my roast duck with a good layer of fat and theirs did not disappoint. It is served with duck/plum sauce. I'm sure I could have asked for the duck juice instead, which is what we usually prefer to eat it with. We had the same waiter on both visits and he remembered us from our first visit. It was busy on that second visit and he was the only one on the floor. It wasn't a terrible wait and food came out promptly both times. We'll be back! read more

Wanted to try a new Chinese place in search of a new gem. Judging by the pics I felt like this spot had real potential, in particular the crispy roast pork looked pretty flawless. We had a pretty big AYCE dinner the night before at 888 Korean BBQ Encore in Henderson (5 stars), so I was really in the mood for some soothing wonton soup. Again, the pics of the wonton here looked pretty good so with that and the crispy roast pork, I was locked in to try it. We ordered those two dishes and string beans, since none of us were super hungry from the night before. Wonton came out first of course. The wontons were pretty good, a little on the smaller side but no complaints. The broth however was very heavy handed on the white pepper, so it wasn't as soothing as I was looking for. White pepper is very strong and a little goes a long way, like a sprinkle and you're good. This seemed like it had a whole heaping teaspoonful in the bowl. Quite aggressive and not what we were expecting. The string beans seemed a bit pricey at $20, but ended up being the best dish of the 3. This dish was simple but expertly cooked, as fresh and firm as could be without being raw. Well executed. The highlight of the meal was supposed to be the crispy roast pork. You can order by the pound or get the appetizer serving. I tried asking what the difference in quantity was, but she wasn't able to articulate a helpful answer, so we just went with the appetizer size. Well it was a good thing we didn't get the pound, because to our surprise, the skin was not crispy at all! When it comes to this dish, that's the ONLY reason you order it. Total sacrilege. I let the server, who's probably the owner, know about the skin. She said it's because it was made in the morning. And that was it. No attempt to rectify the situation, no apology. Just pop it in the air fryer or something lol. Like I've never been to a legit Chinese restaurant, with "BBQ" in their name, roast ducks hanging in the case, and they serve crispy roast pork with chewy skin. Ironically this is in the same shopping center as Win Kee BBQ who has immaculate crispy roast pork, so much so that they sell out every day and you have to get there early. But here? You get here to eat lunch by 1pm and it's too late, the skin will no longer be crispy. What's even crazier is they advertise whole roast pigs on the regular menu, up to over $500 per pig. Imagine spending over $500 and getting chewy skin. The moment I let her know about the skin and she gave me her response, we locked gazes, had a moment of silence, and she knew then she had seen the first and last of us. Why would I ever drive down to SW Vegas, same shopping center as Win Kee, and go here again for "crispy" roast pork. Doesn't make sense now does it... read more

Trying a new Asian restaurant. The owners used to have a location inside the sf market on spring mountain. I ordered their duck, the skin was crispy and nicely roasted but it lacked the sauce that Cantonese cooking roast it with leaving it bland to my liking. The hainan chicken was good but then again it seemed to lack something which I can't quite put my finger on it. My friend ordered the chow kway teow which is a malaysian dish but it lacked the wok hei which I'm used to in Chinese cooking, it was made with eggs, chicken, shrimp and bean sprouts. This is a fairly new Chinese Singaporean fusion restaurant along Rainbow Blvd. We took our grandson to have some dinner here considering seeing good reviews. It is a small restaurant, with nice red and yellow lanterns, clean and was greeted cheerfully by Mandy. We ordered their Hainan Chicken, Sizzling Buffalo Beef, and seafood Laksa. The Hainan Chicken is lacking in flavor but sauces helped. The Sizzling volcano Beef was tender and delicious, the Laksa soup was disappointing because it's missing the main flavor of lemon grass and galangal on top of lacking in fresh coconut milk. Mandy was very attentive, always asking if we needed anything. She even gave my grandson an extra bowl of steamed rice. We like supporting new local restaurants so we will give them another try and order something different. At least we now know now that the Volcano Sizzling Spare Ribs is a winner. I called in an order right before closing and the staff was super friendly and quick to prepare my dish. I got the roasted duck and pork. It was a generous portion and I love how they had two different sauces and even bok choy. It felt like a home cooked meal and a warm hug for my stomach. Here in Vegas, I usually associate Chinese food with either cheap take-out places, dim sum, or the "big box" style of restaurants like P.F. Chang's and Panda Express. Nothing against either of them, but it can be difficult to find a Chinese restaurant that actually makes me crave Chinese food. Which is why I was very pleasantly surprised when I found this place while I was driving around the Southwest in my new car and breaking it in. (Yes, I got a new car. That was why I haven't written any reviews in a while, but I digress.) Gourmet Asian BBQ, located on the corner of Rainbow and Warm Springs, and tucked behind an Albertson's, has only been around for four months or so, but the array of dishes they serve are not only the authentic Chinese dishes that you can't find anywhere else, but the restaurant and its flavor are very much in line with what you could find in authentic restaurants in Chinatown, but without the drive to that part of town! It helps that the restaurant interior is quite elegant and much cleaner than some of these places. Food-wise, it's excellent. During my first visit, I came looking for Hainan chicken rice and got it -- delicately poached chicken with flavorful rice and amazing sauces! Don't sleep on the garlic scallion sauce! But then my parents found out about the restaurant and how I'd gone there, and it's since become a regular on our restaurant rotation. Along with the Hainan chicken rice, standouts include their roast pork, the soy sauce chicken, their honey walnut shrimp, and their sizzling seafood platter. The service was excellent, too -- our server, Mandy, took great care of me and my parents during all three of our visits thus far! Needless to say, if you love Chinese food, want to support an up-and-coming business, and want to go somewhere far from the bustle of Chinatown, check out Gourmet Asian 888! Really great authentic Chinese food AND great service here. As soon as we walked here we were warmly greeted by the staff. The menu has a large variety of different authentic Chinese dishes accompanied by high quality photos to help you with your choices! We tried the beef chow fun, fried soft shell crab, barbecue pork, and hainan chicken. Each dish was served with generous portions and the taste was excellent! There wasn't a single dish that I didn't like. Service was great, my water was refilled without asking, the staff were great at explaining dishes on the menu, and they were extremely warm and friendly which I appreciated! This restaurant took over the former space of Pho O Ten and prior to that DT's restaurant. I'm always looking for good authentic Asian cuisine and was really glad to have found a new spot in the Southwest area. The HK Roast Pork had the perfect balance of fat and meat with crispy skin and the Hainan Chicken was cooked well. The Laksa Noodle Soup could have used more coconut milk but otherwise, still very tasty. Excellent customer service provided by Kevin, the manager and the female server was a huge plus. Updated review: Went a second time and got a extremely delicious roast pork with skin so crispy it tasted like it was deep fried, color me happy. The duck is still tasty and juicy, from the previous review I stated that the duck needed more meat and it indeed had more meat. Walked in and place was nice, bright and friendly staff greeted us. Menu was filled with lots of our favorites. We ordered 1lb bbq pork, salt and pepper pork chops, hong kong pan fried noodles and a Hainan chicken plate. We ordered to go and it took about 10-15 min for food to be ready. We enjoyed the bbq pork- lots of flavor and good glaze. Salt and pepper pork was good- big pieces. The hong kong noodles were great-the gravy had lots of flavor. Roast pork and roast duck were decent. Laksa lacked rempah and lemak (rich coconut milk). They added Indian curry powder which destroyed the taste of laksa. Chicken was decent but the rice served was yesterday's dried leftovers. Ong Choy was decent but lacked shrimp paste flavor. Char kway teow lack the dark sweet sauce, Chinese sausage & rendered pork fat. We're born and raised in Singapore and the food didn't reflect the true taste of Singapore. But this is a lot better than Hawker Co, about a mile away. read more

The sauces were very mild and basic but my biggest gripe was the way they cut their chicken legs caused a lot of bone shards throughout the dish which made it extremely unpleasant when paired with a more mushy wetter than expected rice. Usually it's a lightly chicken stock enhanced rice with some aromatics but this one reminded me of what my nanny would make for me when I was 3. I'd pass on the Hainan chicken and rice. read more

Delicious. The portion size was huge and lasted me 2 meals. My only feedback were that the greens were a little cold and that I could've used more of the ginger scallion sauce. I also got an iced green tea to go, which was only $3 but tasted like Bigelow; would rather they have a decent Chinese green or Jasmine and priced higher. The takeout process was easy and the customer service lady was really nice. Overall, the food had similar quality to Win Kee, although Win Kee might still be a smidge better. Actually came here twice in the past week because we enjoyed the food so much. We ordered the Char Kway Teow, Roti with Curry, Soft Shell Crab, Ong Choy, Crispy Roast Pork, Singapore Laksa, Singapore Chili Prawn, and (in a different visit) Hainan Chicken, Roast Duck. Everything tasted great they use huge shrimp/prawn, Laksa has that great curry broth. Definitely visit this small local business and support them versus the corporate giants on the strip. read more

Another great place in the southwest. Grew up in the Southeast Asian region and Gourmet Asian 888 did not disappoint. They're a little newer and I can see they'll grow a following very quickly. The staff here is amazing and very accommodating. The place is larger than it looks outside... one can say it's bigger on the inside. Guys, I saw this New Chinese spot on Social media, Roasted Duck is tasty here, I think it's better than Roasted duck around in this area ( South West ) won't have to drive to Central area or Chinatown. Very convenient if you guys ever in the SW area. I'd ordered Won Ton noodle soup with Roasted duck. I think their broth is much better than most Chinese places around this town. The egg noodle ( mien ) was Hong Kong style and also the pork/shrimp wonton was traditional style. Service I had Mandy was attentive and recommended signature items, very nice manner. GM Kevin also came out and says hello, check on the food and things. Very friendly environment vibe, clean restaurant overall I really like. They are very nice people. I was waiting in my car for take-out and didn't tell them and they brought it out to me. It came out way faster then they said. This place is an awesome fine for the southwest. Great friendly staff. They make fresh roast duck and roast pork. The duck is very moist and juicy and a decent amount of fat would still crispy skin without being too oily. The roast pork is also a great fine and the skin is very crispy and it's very meaty without having too much of a thick layer of just pure fat. There are wonton duck noodle soup was great where the wontons were well seasoned. Personally, the soup was on the lighter side and less salty side, which is what we prefer as we like to talk it up ourselves instead of it being too salty.
