I have dined in for all 3 meals, eaten indoors and outdoors, ordered take away and patroned on weekdays and weekends. Pastries and food are as good as the downtown location. The Niçoise salad is EXCELLENT. Service is always polite, I just wish the servers would be a little more attentive with asking about alcohol orders (maybe it's a Utah thing ‍but unless you flag them down, they don't ask if you want additional alcoholic beverages after the first order - is there an unspoken policy? More drinks = more money spent = more tips) but the water and sodas were refilled without having to ask. The outdoor dining is a little funky- tables are wobbly, the ground is gross (food and crumbs, miscellaneous stains and crayons smashed into crevices) and the space is small so not ideal during peak times. The New GM, Miroslav, seems to be a very hands on manager and very eager to run a high-standard establishment. read more

I took my daughter for a mom and daughter date just to eat fancy sweets and pastries together. We order several things and tried them all immediately. My favorite from this place have always been the chocolate almond horns. They are amazing! We did not like the Eclair but It is just our taste buds. We enjoy everything else that we ordered. I realized after I left that I was over charged for almost $2. Next time I will pay attention to the cashier when she marked the products in the register. read more

Decent location, could be noisy due to traffic if you sit outside. I've always liked Gourmandise, so I thought I'd give this one a try. The salmon was really delicious with tasty pastry. Onion dip was a bit bland, the sauce didn't have much flavors either. Would not recommend. read more

Wow this place serves good treats! My girlfriend and I ordered a tiramisu, a mocha, and a chai tea. The tiramisu was to die for! So sooo good. My mocha was hot and tasty, and my girlfriend loved her Chai tea. The server was friendly and answered our questions about the food. The inside and outside are classy, inviting, and clean. We're definitely coming back to Gourmandise for more bakery treats and good coffee. read more

Only thing I've gotten as a meal here is the Saumon en Croute and once you try it, it'll be the only thing you eat here moving forward. One of my favorite salmon dishes I've eaten thus far! It has a nice crispy and buttery pastry, the salmon has always been properly cooked and the lobster sauce will have you licking the plate (*drooling as I write this*) The desserts are really great too, I don't think you can go wrong with any of their dessert offerings. My favorites are the fruit tarts and tiramisu. read more

I don't know how the regular food is, but the desserts here are quite tasty. If you're looking for sheer size, get "The Peach"--a giant double roll soaked in peach juice, filled with peach cream, and sprinkled with sugar that seems like it's straight from a Peachy-O's bag. Would definitely recommend to split one with your table. The passionfruit cake is a light, tangy treat that won't fill you up. The strawberry bar (heaven knows I have no idea how to pronounce it) was our favorite--layers of strawberries, custard, and pastry made for a delectable delight. read more

My friend and I stopped by cause we wanted something sweet and Gourmandise was the closest option for us. I used to go to Gourmandise all the time when they only had their DTSL location and it was always such a treat. The only menu item I really enjoy here is the tiramisu because it's always constant in taste. Sometimes I don't enjoy branching out to try different things on the menu. Gourmandise is a great spot for late night as well, but my warning is that they might be out of a specific dessert (in our case it was the cheesecake). They do offer food and drink here as well. If you sit down, they recommend that you order with your server. You can go up to the bakery area to look at the desserts, but you'll want to go back to your seat and order with your server. All in all, it's an okay place to go. I think it used to be better. read more

I don't think I've eaten anything here that I didn't think was wonderful. I highly recommend the monte cristo sandwich. I also love the breakfast bowl. Everything is beautifully presented. My only recommendation is that they add more staff. I think they are often understaffed and it isn't adequate for how many tables wait staff has. They are clearly not trained much either. But they are friendly and the food is terrific. read more

We came this afternoon for lunch, expecting a much better experience since their pastries are actually pretty good. However we were seated near a noisy kitchen even though there were several other tables available. Once seated, we thought they must have forgotten us since no one stopped by to acknowledge us, bring us water or take our order for quite some time even though they had a slew of help just loitering in the kitchen on their phones. From the comments here, it does seem like service is a problem which is a shame because there's so much potential in a place like this. The food unfortunately was also mediocre at best - I had the rigatoni with bolognese sauce and my wife had a salad with beets. The sauce for the rigatoni was very thin, bland and slurpy, almost like a soup, with none of the advertised vegetable garnish. And no bread to go with an Italian dish like Rigatoni! My wife's salad was fine. Hopefully, management will be alert to make the changes it needs! A disappointment. read more

Ahhh, Gourmandise is a breath of local fresh air in a chain-restaurant flooded Draper. I'm happy to see you here! My friend took me to brunch this morning for my birthday, and we decided to hit up the new location (downtown is a favorite, but this is closer to home.) I first noticed that the restaurant is located on the corner of a main street, but it's a little tricky to get to and the parking is a bit wonky. We were immediately greeted and taken to a table. The hostess first attempted to seat us at a small table sandwiched between another couple and a family with a toddler in a high chair. We asked for a different table with a bit more space, since the restaurant was not full. She was happy to oblige. Our server, Chase, was friendly and accommodating. In fact, he told us that he would do anything to make our stay enjoyable-so we asked if he dances. (He looked like he could be a good dancer). No, he did not, but was willing to learn. The menu options were plentiful and all looked delicious, as did the baked goods in the case. I was feeling like something light, so went with the classic oatmeal. It was very thick and filling. My friend had a quiche-and she was very happy with it. One day soon, we will be back later in an afternoon to try some of the sweet treats-they all looked amazing! read more

Dec 2019 update: Ordered a couple mousse cakes from here online. Was able to pick them up with ease at the time scheduled. A bakery/cafe with a beautiful ambiance, this place has me sold from the beginning. The menu had me wanting about seven other dishes, but I settled for the blueberry grilled cheese with tomato basil soup and was not disappointed in the slightest. The flavors came together so well and left me feeling refreshed and wanting more. The experience was umami. Had a passion fruit cake dessert afterword and loved it as well, although I don't have a picture of it on here. Overall, great place to go--you won't be disappointed. Also, our waiter was amazing. I have had the avocado toast with a side of poached eggs a few times and liked it, but today I got it with a side of dirt apparently. The micro greens were still attached to their dirt and roots and placed right on top of my avocado toast. I did receive a replacement, but had a hard time eating it because all I could think was they probably don't wash their micro greens if this chunk of dirt was able to make it onto my plate in the first place. They have a sign on the door asking for patience due to short staffing but this...shouldn't happen no matter how short-staffed or busy you are. I'd be happy to wait extra time for my food if it means it will not have dirt on it. On top of that the patio is allegedly dog-friendly, but there's no gate to get them in and you can't take them through the restaurant so be prepared to hoist them over the fence and either leave them there alone while you walk through the restaurant or climb over the fence yourself. read more

So all day I was craving a Coconut Cream Pie. I wanted a really good one so I stopped here. They didn't have one but i couldn't leave without exploring something new. They had the most delicious triple stacked strawberry desert. It was in the shape of a bagel. The crust was flaky and buttery. It was topped with sliced almonds and glaze. In the middle was rich French Creme and fresh strawberries. The bottom layer was made the same as the top and a touch of Powdered sugar frosted it. I think they cost about $6 each. Trust me the price is well worth it If you love Chocolate there were many yummy things too read more

Most people (including myself) know gourmandise as a dessert place. And, yes - they certainly specialize in that. But have you ever had their food?? It's wonderful. I got the crispy chicken cutlet. An absolutely beautiful thing. With roasted butternut squash mashed potatoes, brown butter sage cream sauce, and broccolini & caulilini, this meal was nearly perfect. My ONLY critique is that it wasn't quite filling enough. Overall, though, it was delicious and I'll certainly be back to try more from their food menu! read more

Arriving at Gourmandise around 11:00am on a Saturday, I was ill prepared for the fervor with which people regard this Utah institution. The majority of the nearby parking as well as the dining room were full, and it wasn't even really lunch time yet! I suppose, though, it's a popular spot for brunch. I'm still a little salty about the closing of Bake 360, but if a new bakery had to take its place, I guess Gourmandise is a suitable alternative. Maybe. People rave about their marzipan cake, and I had not yet tried it. I'm a big fan of that almondy delight (I thought I hated it for some time, but that was simply due to the rampant bad versions out there), so it was high time I remedy my neglect, and I was excited to finally get my hands on some. Sadly, their marzipan is of the poor variety, and I just removed the layer enfolding my treat. The cake itself was decent, moist with a nice crumb, but the filling was also not my favorite. Something artificial in there. The tiramisu was better, though just an average rendition. Service was excellent. A trainee, Reuben, helped me pick out my treats, providing suggestions and packaging them up carefully, all with a big smile and passion for what he was doing (even exclaiming he made sure I got the prettiest slices, haha). Kate rang up my order, and she too was very pleasant and sweet. The space is certainly smaller than downtown, but it has the same light and open feeling, and the changes they've made are an improvement over the previous set up. I wish there was a pretty outdoor area like the original. Prices are a little high, with most baked goods averaging $5 (cookies are $1-$2, some pastries up to $8 - I see you darling hedgehog cream puff!). An entree is likely to run you $10-$15+. I need to have an actual meal here, certainly, and they make so many delectable pastries and baked goods, that maybe I just had bad luck and picked out the less-than-stellar ones (I quite enjoyed cookies from the SLC location in the past). So while overall I was unimpressed food-wise, the restaurant was pretty, and service was stellar. I'll return to try more, as I'm not ready to write them off considering they have such a loyal following. read more

Great tasting food with a very nice ambience. Service was pretty good. Will definitely go there again.

Went there on a Saturday early afternoon. It was not busy at all. We were ready to order the pastry, and the cashier asked us if we want to sit down or to go. We don't mind either way. She said that if we want to dine in, we need to get a table. She asked us to find someone to get a table for us, so we walk out from the queue and tried to find someone. But there is no one that we can see at the entrance or near the tables. When we need to go back to the cashier, she was taking the order from someone else so we have to wait for our turns again. When it's our turn, we were a little pissed, we said that we want it to go and we ate in the car. As to the pastry, they are too sweet. Wonder if it is Americanized coz French pastries are not so sweet. I had them a few times in the store in downtown, and liked them there more. Is it before noon when you are reading this? Yes? Okay good, stop reading this review and rush down here for a Kouijn-Amman IMMEDIATELY. This is literally the best thing I've eaten in Utah yet, hands down, no comparison. Sweet, buttery, flaky, pastry of deliciousness that makes you wonder how you missed out on trying this for as long as you have. Gourmandise has restored my faith that Utah can actually produce decent food, their Croissants are airy, buttery, and just perfection. Their desserts are phenomenal, and really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. For those who balk at the price, try making these pastries at home, you can't. The skill required is worth it's weight in gold and I will gladly pay whatever the price for their delicious pastries. Here's a scathing review for a bakery that can't seem to get its act together on fresh products: I've had better luck finding fresh bread in a gas station dumpster than at Gourmandise. Calling this place a bakery is an insult to flour, yeast, and anyone with functioning taste buds. You'd think the whole point of a bakery is to churn out fresh, warm, delicious goods daily--apparently, they didn't get the memo. What you'll find instead are sad, stale relics that taste like they've been sitting on the refrigerator shelf since the Clinton administration. The croissants? More like cardboard crescents. The bread? I'd rather gnaw on my shoe sole--it'd have less dust and better texture. And don't get me started on the staff's indifference. Asking if anything's fresh is like asking a brick wall for life advice--you'll get a blank stare and a shrug, followed by some mumbled excuse about "yesterday's batch." Yesterday's batch? This isn't a thrift store for baked goods! I'm not here to adopt your day-old rejects; I want something that hasn't fossilized. The only thing fresh here is the audacity to charge full price for what's essentially edible regret. Save your money and your dignity--buy a loaf from the supermarket or, better yet, bake it yourself. Gourmandise clearly can't be bothered to do the one job they signed up for. Zero stars if I could. read more

Not only could Gourmandise in Draper not find my advance order after 40 minutes of me waiting this evening, the merchant then didn't have any of the desserts I ordered for my family's Valentine's treats. We had an almost identical experience just this past Christmas, too, at the Draper location. I worked 12 hours today, then hurried over after work to pick up an order I placed weeks ago, only to leave empty handed. You singlehandedly ruined my week and my Valentine's plans. After 24 years of enjoying Gourmandise over so many holidays and birthdays, I am calling it quits. What a tremendous disappointment you've become as a business. I will steer family and friends away from your Draper location. I'm brokenhearted, but I know my tiny life means nothing to your teams in Draper. Thx for nothing these last few months. Shame on you. The service was great, they were nice and it very prompt. The food was 50/50 though. The burger was totally burned on bottom and the sides and sauce were kinda of hot mess. So glad Gourmandise opened up in Draper! I love their Brunch, lunch, and dinner option. But the main reason to go is that pastry case. We arrived shortly after 11:00 for lunch and were seated promptly. Service was quick and efficient. Halfway through our meal I noticed a line to be seated for lunch. "Butter and more Butter!"-Georges Escoffier "without butter and without eggs, there is no reason to come to France"-Paul Bocuse Its clear that the staff of Gourmandise agree with the famous french chefs when it comes to butter. Everything has butter in it, and lots of it. Being a not-so-secret member of the cult of butter, I love the place! Everything I have had there is delicious. Turnovers: 5 stars. Flaky, tasty, and the right amount of fillings, because the PASTRY is the star, not the filling. The supporting cast is good, but the pastry is so good! Croissants: if you could go 6 stars on a 5 scale, this would be it. The fruit filled ones are amazing, with the apricot bing my personal favorite. Or is it the Pan Chocolate? why pick sides when you can have both? Kouign Aman: if Croissants are a 6 on a 5 scale, the Kouign Aman is a 11. You feel like its spinal tap, turning it up past the top of the scale. the rich buttery taste, crispy sugar, and cardamom hints are beyond mortal taste. The heavenly choirs must get worn out breaking into song every time someone buys one and starting munching away. Tarts: since i have used up all the hyperbole, a 5 star almost seems unfair. they are very tasty and my favorite the raspberry with pistachios, although the mixed fruit is not only very visually appealing but tasty as well. If anything gets less than 5, it would be the savory croissants. They are still 4 stars, but please get some real ham, black forest ham is not french nor is it very good. The savory scone was amazing. Overall, the service is ok, i can see why people might complain, about the speed. Not bad, not fast. Just go with the flow and enjoy some great pastries. They are a little on the pricey side, but its a supreme case of you get what you pay for, and in that case the value is very worth it. read more
