We go in, I ask for an Almond Croissant, expecting the size you see at other places, then inquire about something like ham and cheese, yep, so asked for one, and a Cappuccino. It'd be a few minutes for the ham and cheese, but they box up my wife's two slices of bread and my other croissant and we wait. Heading for the freeway I open the bag and start on my savory croissant. A half hour later and I ask for the Almost Croissant. "OMG... They are too pretty to eat, I have to take a picture first!" She hands me the largest Almond Croissant I have ever seen! The flavor was as imlressive as the size. There were probably 20 diners at this location at 4-5 tables at 2:00 PM on a Sunday. I counted about 10-12 employees. The wait for everything seemed a little too long for the employee/diner ratio. The food was just OK. The brisket sandwich was very dry and pulled, like pulled pork, but without any juices. I know it's not a smokehouse and they likely just order overcooked roasted brisket from Cisco or something, but when you order a brisket sandwich for $14, there are expectations. Ordered coffee with lunch. Waiter brought two coffees and a small container of cream. Asked to refill about halfway through. Brought coffees and no cream. So I asked again. Then about 5 minutes later I asked again. Then I watched our waiter go into the open kitchen area and lean against a counter and chat and laugh with two other staff for 5 minutes. I stood up and walked toward him and he saw me. He broke with the group, came out and said, "Sorry, I had to do something in the back." Very mediocre experience overall. I normally eat my steel cut oats with very minimal sweetness, but decided to go all in this time. The whipped cream and warm berry coulis sweetened it up and gave it a really nice flavor. They only added 3 slices of banana and one strawberry - very minimal. Saw this place on Instagram and had to come try it. We came for lunch, but I've heard their breakfast is better! Their spinach artichoke dip was really good! The bread seemed like it would be hard but it was soft on the inside, completing the flavor of the dip! I got the tomato basil soup cup with the grilled cheese. I was disappointed in the grilled cheese. Not much cheese at all and it was burnt on the inside. Couldn't eat all the sandwich because the lack of cheese which just made it crusted bread. The sister had their rigatoni pasta and she said it was good. Now for their desserts. Of course I had to try the giant peach. It didn't taste like anything I expected it to. It was good, but probably wouldn't get it again. The raspberry pistachio was delicious! Their strawberry bar was also good, but I think the raspberry pistachio was all of our favorite! It is a busy place, lots of people coming in to do walk up orders at the counter, door dash drivers and then the tables all next to each other kind of like a coffee shop vibe. Came in on a Monday night around 7PM. Wasn't busy and was sat quickly! Our server was super friendly and helpful. Shared the brussel sprouts and salmon en croute. Brussels were cooked perfectly paired with a nice sauce. Little disappointed with the small amount of salmon inside, but the puff pastry was perfection! Didn't get a pic bc we dug right in. Haha. I recently discovered that this location has a drive-thru, and that basically changed my life. I cannot stress the convenience enough! However, the drive-thru menu seems to be a little different than the menu inside, so if you have your heart set on a particular meal, you're better off stepping in to order it. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, carrot-curry soup (something I believe they got rid of at the SLC location), and the miso corn pasta salad. Sadly, Gourmandise has not aged well. The last few times I've been, it has been terribly disappointing. Last week I ordered the chicken piccata. The chicken was undercooked, breading was not browned. Instead of a light caper sauce, it was smothered in a gross gravy type sauce that did not taste like lemons or capers. It was horrible! To make matters worse, the waitress never asked how the food was. She didn't ask if there was anything wrong with my meal, even though I had clearly only taken one bite and did not take it to go. This is a cute restaurant that focuses alot on desserts and pastries which are amazing but they also have good food! We went during lunch hours and I got the tri tip steak sandwich was good, I was hoping for a little more seasoning and flavor, however my daughter got the beef brisket grilled cheese which was fantastic that I should have gotten that sandwich. My family and I met here for dinner one night (6 people). Our waiter was great and when he found out it was my birthday he was super sweet and gave me some extra fried cheese balls in my Greek salad. Those fried cheese balls by the way, are worth going to the restaurant for those alone! I'll say up front it's one four stars from me, simply because I feel like if they narrowed their focus just a bit, the quality could come up enough to honestly give it five. I visited Gourmandise on a busy Saturday morning for a quick stop to get some pastries. Definitely was a full restaurant with a lot of hustle and bustle! If you just want pastries you can go up to the bakery counter and order from there. But you can also grab a table to order from their cafe menu or even eat their pastries in house. I ordered their kouign amann, cheese pocket, and tiramisu eclair today. I've had their kouign amann a while ago and I think they have reduced the amount of sugar lamination so it's much less caramelized and sweet now. It's got more of a dense croissant taste with some sugar caramelized in the middle. Not really my favorite change to their kouign amann so I won't be ordering it again from here. The cheese pocket was like a cream cheese filled roll but the exterior was a thin pastry dough that resembled a danish! It was pretty good and it seemed they were already running low on the cheese pocket at around 9 am! Finally, the tiramisu eclair also had a light cream in the center and a lovely crisp to the tempered chocolate topping. I loved it was a nice spin on the classic eclair and I would see myself ordering this again in the future. Overall this bakery isn't the best I've ever had. But I suppose if you're in the area and want some sweet treats it could be worth dropping by! No need to go out of your way for it though. read more

Mille-Feuille, French for "thousand sheets" is a pâtisserie made up of 3 layers of puff and 2 layers of cream. It is also known as Napolean. The boulangerie (bakery) items didn't have much selection, I didn't see any baguettes and the croissant looked a little bland so I did not try it. They did have a bunch of classic Kouign Amman and a pecan flavor. This Brittany region butter cake is caramelized on the outside and not overly sweet.
