City Moving kindly changed the date for me and Barack must have instructed Isaako (Isaac) and company to be polite with me. Barack reminded me that without clients, the movers would not have jobs. Kudos to Isaac and contracted crew, for working so very hard. One thing: City Moving apparently failed to inform the local contracted company that I would be moving up a steep driveway (I remember relaying this concern to John, who said he didn't believe it would be any problem); it was impossible for the truck with the lift gate to go up the driveway. Movers had to manually walk up the very steep driveway until my son emptied out our little pickup and helped to transfer large items onto our truck for getting them up the driveway. With that in mind, that specific crew, with Isaac in the lead, deserves a bonus from City Moving. There was an issue with City Moving's billing, which was very efficiently remedied. Again, I appreciate City Moving's help and services in my move. Mike was honest and stuck to his quote. His team was professional and they moved my things safely. The move itself went OK, but the sales person I spoke with initially definitely gave me a very low estimate. He knew I was shopping around with other moving companies, and my guess is he low-balled the qoute to get my business-and unfortunately he did! All the other companies I talked with gave me similar prices, but Alex's qoute from SEKA was so much lower than all the other companies, that should have been a red flag for me. The sales person never asked for pictures of my apartment, nor did he say facetime could be an option. He estimated that I would need 7 medium boxes to pack up my one-bedroom apartment. The movers ended up using a total of 22 boxes! How uniformed can you be as a salesperson to give such a terrible estimate. I ended up having to pay a very high price for the 15 extra boxes and packing service that Alex underestimated. I tried to talk to a manager later, Chris, who basically said that during one of the conversation I was told that the price of any boxes and services needed outside of the qoute COULD be at a higher rate. And that he would be more than happy to pull a recording of this. When I asked him why don't the sales persons offer the option of facetime to costumers, his response was that customers would have to ask for that option, and that it's never offered up by SEKA moving sales reps. We had just moved in a year ago and spent an obscene amount of money furnishing our place with high quality furniture, only to move out this year and have many pieces absolutely ruined by the carelessness of this company. Our couch is ripped in several places and dirty beyond comprehension. A large mirror was not even wrapped during the move and there is a huge streak of white paint down the side from being banged against a wall. The kitchen island is scratched and damaged in multiple corners. Listen, moving into a walk up in NYC with heavy furniture in extreme heat is super challenging. I'm not arguing that. But movers have one job - to safely transport your stuff from one location to another - and they failed to do this not with just one piece of furniture, but many. Additionally, when I complained to the company, they offered me a paltry $200 for the damages. I'd be laughing if I wasn't so irate, because our furniture is worth thousands of dollars and is essentially new. Unless you don't care about maintaining the quality of your things, book with someone else. It's not worth it.

(Sorry!!) Everything went exceptional. I had a team of three: Jose G, Justin M, and Mike C and they literally went above and beyond what any mover has done before for me. I didn't lift a finger. Things were seemingly fine until the day of my move. 1. The two individuals sent to load my things into the ABF truck were 30 minutes late - and repeatedly tried to blame it on the staff of the building that I lived in. 2. At one point, they specifically told me that they would be finished in no later than one hour, and then proceeded to take an additional TWO AND ONE HALF hours to finish loading my truck. (Mind you, I moved out of a 790 sq. ft. 1-bedroom apartment - in an elevatory building.) 3. It is clear, but unverifiable, that many unnecessary breaks were taken during this move in order to get paid for additional hours. I am only one person and could not be everywhere at the same time. 4. One of them men was on the phone to a significant other multiple times during the move as well. 5. They also came unprepared - only having dollies, but nothing else. You are a RELOCATION company - doesn't it make sense to send your employees to a job prepared with items that perhaps the customer may not realize is necessary? Moving on to the loading of my items.... 1. The truck was loaded so poorly that when it arrived at my new location, the movers that opened the trucked were disgusted at what they saw. 2. All of the heavy items in the load were placed on top of lighter items, crushing all the boxes on the bottom, causing damage. 3. I also reminded the movers MULTIPLE times that my Tempur-pedic mattress was REQUIRED to lay flat in the truck to prevent damage - not only did they not pack the truck properly to accommodate this, they had to unpack/repack some of the truck because there was nowhere to put the mattress. After receiving help from the driver of the truck, they had to place the mattress on beams above all of my other things (which was ideal to begin with), however, the two people that were sent could barely lift the 153lb. mattress over their heads in order to place it up there - subsequently damaging my mattress and getting it quite dirty. 4. Many items were damaged due to neglect in loading - and when I communicated with this company, they informed me that basically, once the truck is loaded and leaves, they are no longer responsible - which also relays to me that they could care less if they damage their customer's items, and that their employees have no reason to respect the customer's items because they have found a way to skate responsibility. 5. The negligence in loading my items into the truck laid the groundwork for further damage of my belongings during transit. Furniture items placed standing on their end became damaged due to movement in transit; boxes were punctured; one of my televisions loaded upside-down (when the box is CLEARLY marked with arrows); wooden items scraped, crushed, broken; leather items damaged; even the cat tree looks intentionally damaged as one part was ripped completely off. The company that unloaded my items stated that it looked as though the individuals that loaded my truck were trying to damage my things - there are footprints and scuff marks on my safe, like it was thrown around on purpose. Using this company was an utter nightmare. Moving is stressful enough - moving cross-country is even worse - moving cross-country when you are a single, female, disabled veteran comes with it's own set of complications. I truly feel taken advantage of, and disrespected. I would never use this company, or recommend them to anyone that I may know. I responded by requesting that they review my invoice and adjust the charges to reflect the actual time spent moving my belongings. He stated that no changes would be made. When I pointed out that there was nothing more to discuss under those circumstances, he became verbally aggressive, using offensive language and personal insults. In my opinion, his behavior demonstrated a lack of professionalism and courtesy, which raises serious concerns about his qualifications to operate a business.
