2 stars because I didn't have that great of an experience with them..
It all started with me roaming on Groupon looking for fun activities, or at least something memorable, to do in Los Angeles for the weekend that my boyfriend and I were going to be there. I saw a Groupon for this company and thought what else would be more fun than a little scenic view over DTLA? I went onto Yelp to see that there were sunset flight options available so I was immediately sold, considering that would be the icing on the cake for my boyfriend's 21st bday celebration. So I started messaging Ray via Yelp messenger and I would give him a 3.5/5 on responsiveness. He basically told me to not get the Groupon but instead order straight from their website with a promo code he gave me, which I didn't mind because it ended up being the same price anyways.
Moving on to the day before our planned departure date. Ray and I had scheduled a 7pm flight on Saturday, and he called me around 8:30pm on Friday night saying that due to the foggy weather in LA recently, flying around 7pm would be uneventful since we would not be able to see much from up ahead. He offered to provide either a 1:30pm or 4:30pm flight instead. Of course I was disappointed but since it wasn't really anyone's fault and he was just making sure we'd get the most out of our flight, I opted for the 1:30pm choice instead.
This is where things get annoying... the next morning my boyfriend and I left our Airbnb in Hollywood via Uber to go all the way to El Monte during rush hour, so that was about a $29 trip. Literally 2 minutes before we arrived at El Monte Airport to meet up with Ray.. he calls me and says that due to "June thunderstorms", he feels uncomfortable taking us up into the sky in a small plane. At that point I didn't know what to say and was pretty much speechless. On one hand, it was nice of Ray to be thoughtful about that sense but on the other hand, my boyfriend and I just spent about $30 on Uber and went through 1 hour of LA traffic for him to notify us 2 MINUTES before we got there. I was pretty annoyed with the fact that overall we couldn't go on any plane ride at all. I called Ray back and we agreed on a refund since I didn't know when I would be back in LA for a rescheduled flight. I waited one week, checking my bank statement everyday, to see if a refund was issued but it still didn't show up. I had to message Ray again reminding him about it for him to initiate the refund. Over the phone he said he would also refund me the promo code discount to compensate for my long drive from West Hollywood to El Monte, but the receipt I received for the refund only showed the initial price. I would message him back again about it but at this rate I really just wanted my money back.
All in all.. kind of mixed emotions about my experience. I believe Gotham City usually offers excellent service due to all the other amazing reviews on here, just disappointed that my plans weren't able to proceed as planned. read more
