How often do you have the opportunity to board a small open hangar craft and feel the wind blow by you as you soar over the world beneath you?! Not often at all. Mike was our pilot. He must be one of the friendliest guys I've ever encountered in quite some time. He gave us some nifty leather caps and a mic set so we could talk and hear from each other throughout the flight. You can tell Mike really gets a kick out of the joy others experience through flying with him. What I appreciated the most about this experience was how the plane was constructed. The biplane allowed my girlfriend and I to experience the whole flight together. I hiiiighly recommend giving Skythrills a try. Treat yo self!!!!!!

Yup that's right, a driving tour. It turns out there is this under-the-radar-event called "Tour d'Orange". This has happened each New Year's Day morning for the last 11 years now. It's a very low key event that is meant to be a fun, very relaxed and casual, car guy/gal event. In fact there were NO e-mails or announcements about this years event, yet hundreds and hundreds and HUNDREDS of cars showed up! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#t6PRoifqqa62lBaB2maPzw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#Of6ME1pd8tdFludf7x9A5w http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#K5aY3WtkeEBcPQnrDjPpmw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#T7SeEGhkkqLiC8jQiDi-zw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#gxmaVdQACHfa0eWdyyNTIg http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#CWB8pHfRveMxS5-t205MHQ Just before the tour was to start this DeLorean Time Machine showed up too! There was even a live band playing some great rock music until the tour started! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tour-d-orange-costa-mesa?select=nRV9J6Uy3N5GAgzjn6FfdA#-Ql0oxIf1QF3vOOqqGKf5w The first car headed out about 9:15 and everyone else followed. At each traffic light it was kind of a *CF* because there were SO many cars, but they thinned out a bit as the miles rolled on. The tour is approximately 70 miles, leaving from Costa Mesa, winding its way around Orange County on some really beautiful roads through Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita and ends at "The District" shopping center in Irvine for lunch. There is no registration for the event, so it's just a show up and "run what you brung" type of thing. Old cars, new cars, classics, hot rods, muscle cars, customs, stock, modified, exotics, they are all welcome. This is a casual driving tour for the automotive enthusiast that's a lot of fun! It was a very beautiful drive, I had a blast and I'm look forward to doing it again next year!
