Took my father up for his 80th birthday and we had a great time! Professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely do it again!

What a great experience! The view was amazing and the pilot was very nice , showed us what we were passing by as we were going ! 10/10!

I took a demo flight at Anthelion Helicopters as I always wanted to fly the Cabri G2, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Before getting into the helicopter, I had a 10-minute session in their simulator to become familiar with the controls. Thomas was a fantastic flight instructor--patient, knowledgeable, and made the flight enjoyable. I highly recommend Anthelion Helicopters to anyone interested in trying a demo flight in the greater Los Angeles area!

I met Anthelion Helicopters through Renaissance Club, a LA based activity membership club that sends you to local experiences you wouldn't necessarily think of or know are available your area. Needless to say, I was very excited about this activity from the moment it popped up in my itinerary. I drove to Long Beach, signed a waiver, met with my pilot instructor and started my journey into flight. First there was a quick simulation in which Colby, my pilot, gave me a brief lowdown on how to steer the helicopter and other important features. This helpful simulation allowed me to test my hand and get comfortable with what I'd be doing in the air. After the simulation we went to the tarmac and hopped in the small helicopter (big enough only for two). I threw my headset on and after the startup checklist we were off. After leaving the airport, we followed the LA River toward the harbor. At this point, Colby asked if I was ready to fly, to which I excitedly said, "Yes!" He told me where to go and I steered us down to the harbor and around in a large loop and then back towards land. Flying over city and water were both thrilling in there own right. My instructor pointed out different things along the way you could only see from air which was cool. After we were nearly back to the airport, Colby took over to take us down to a small patch only helicopters could access to test my hand at hovering the helicopter. He showed me first then gave me about five minutes of testing my newbie skills. Let's just say, I'm no pilot. Hovering, unique to helicopters, is a very difficult maneuver, and it was difficult but fun to try. After this we headed back to the hanger to take some pics with the helicopter. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience from start to finish. Colby was a fun, supportive instructor whom had no qualms with me asking questions and taking pics/vids. All in all, a five star experience with Renaissance club and Anthelion Helicopters!

Don't do business with this company. They don't have weight limits on the cabri helicopter on their website, only the R22 & R44. I booked the Cabri for my birthday on Sarurday 8/10/24. I am 256 lbs, so I got a call that I needed to upgrade to the R44 for $150. I declined and they are charging me 10% of my booking even though they don't have info on the cabri that would have prevented me from booking the air craft. Total scam.

I took my fiance on the Harbour Hover tour for his birthday yesterday and it was so amazing. Zach our pilot made out first helicopter ride very enjoyable. It will definitely be in my memory books forever. I was terrified and he made the experience as stress free as possible for me. I highly recommend this company.

ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!!! The team helped my fiancé plan a surprise proposal for me and they were so wonderful! They were the most affordable and most accommodating to our needs. Other companies required us to do a minimum 1 hour when we only needed a fly by so I can see the "marry me" sign. Our pilot Sierra was amazing and really went along with the surprise. When we got back the staff was in the office waiting for our return and celebrated our engagement with us. Whether for an engagement or just a helicopter experience, these folks went above and beyond to help my fiancé make this an engagement proposal to remember!!

I surprised my fiancée with a 60 minute demo flight and he loved it! Karl was a great instructor, made us feel very comfortable, and was very informative. I was going to get the 30 minute option but the other reviews are right ... for a demo flight 30 minutes are not enough!! For the first half I feel like you're still getting used to the adrenaline/controls. We circled LA a couple of times then went up & down the Long Beach shoreline. Anyway thanks Karl for making our experience fun and memorable!

We really enjoyed our ride! It was beyond what we expected and I'm very glad I took a chance to go on my first helicopter ride. My party signed up for Demo Flight R-44 for 30 minutes which includes a quick lesson on a simulator and a hands on demo at the cockpit--30 minute fly tour around the coast accompanied by pilot. Make sure you read carefully what you reserve since R22 is only big for one person+pilot. R44 allows up to 2 guests. Getting there isn't that complicated-just make sure you go to the correct address they send you via email. They have a dedicated parking lot. We called upon arrival and was told to wait at the lobby until a pilot came to pick us up. A quick sign, a simple lesson and a simulator and then we were guided to our helicopter. He offered to even take a photo before riding. The view in the sky is phenomenal. Incomparable to what you see on an airplane-I know it takes you somewhere else at least but I would pay the same amount just to see the view. It's really an amazing experience. The pilot was very helpful and assuring through every step and the control is shared with him so you feel safe. Make sure to tip the pilot because they literally guide you through every step. They actually had to reschedule me because the aircraft we had reserved had go in for a regular maintenance (oil change) and according to the pilot, they're very good about keeping their aircrafts in a good condition. Apparently not all tour companys will. 100% recommended! it really was an unforgettable experience :D

This year, our Valentine's Weekend included a fly over Long Beach at sunset. In our quest to explore local, and try something new, my husband found an opportunity to see the city from above. It was magical! From reservation, to directions upon arrival to the flight itself, it was a wonderful experience. Our pilot, Dustin, knew so much about the city and as we got a bird's eye view, he pointed out everything from spots made famous in movies to historical facts and so much more. The experience was top notch. The company was easy to book with and the pilot was professional. They offer several other tours and I can't wait to experience another one in the future.

As a frequent plane traveler, this was an incredibly unique experience to fly over LA through a different perspective! After sorting through various charter companies and helicopter tour experiences, I decided on Athelion. Dustin & copilot Jason led us on a tour of LB coast & DTLA. Purchased a 4P El Capitan tour, and although I could not see much of Universal & Hollywood itself - it was still a phenomenal sight to see many of LA & OC's prime tourist spots. Both pilots were professional, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable answering all our questions about flying over the beautiful city. Even though I live in LA, I learned so much! Don't worry, the turbulence is absolutely normal. ***Arrive 15 mins prior and make sure to call the reservation # so they can pick you up promptly (by promptly = on time) for departure. We arrived 1540 and was picked up by 1600 inside the aviation building. Plenty of free parking as well. And ladies, I recommend opting for jeans or leggings during the experience as you're required to jump off the heli upon landing. (joke) My only wish was to take more photos with the chopper itself - so take advantage! Otherwise, thank you pilots for an unforgettable flight over our beautiful city!

My girlfriend took me here for Valentine's Day. Due to covid there is some restrictions but able to work with them. The sunset tour was very nicely done and the pilot gave us a nice tour. I will definitely go back to them and do the night tour. This is very romantic and also fun if you have never been in a helicopter

"I FLEW A R22 HELICOPTER" ... and almost sh!t my pants. How can I capture the feels and translate it with words? I simple can't. But I can try! How many people do you know that can say that? Probably not a lot. Every year for my birthday I knock off a bucket list item. Mind you, I do extreme things. And many of friends say that I do the most randomest and adventurous things that they can't keep up with me. I've done many things but one thing I haven't done was FLY A HELICOPTER. WHO: Me WHAT: mission to fly a helicopter WHEN: end of July WHERE: Long Beach WHY: Birthday bucket list present PRE-FLIGHT. I didn't know what to expect. I arrive at the airfield and waited in a building lobby until my instructor, Sarah, came to get me. We drove a mini cart around the airways and into the Anthelion hangers with maybe five helicopters grounded around the hangers. Inside the hanger we spent 10-15 minutes on the simulator (which didn't even work) and going over rules and safety. Shortly after I was given my helmet and escorted to the R22 Helicopter. I hoped in the right side with the option of door or no-door, the door was already off so I guess I was flying with NO DOOR. I was blown the f* away sitting in a helicopter for the very first time. We then tested our communication and microphones and then we were ready. THE LESSON. We started to take off and I started to feel a little queasy. The R22 is a small two seater helicopter and every movement is felt 10x more. I had no door so looking down was very scary. I took control of the helicopter as my instructor guided me. I am a person who loves adrenaline rushes and thrills but this task was nerve wrecking. You have to focus on THREE controls: Throttle, cyclic, and pedals... and focus on maneuvering the helicopter. Any inch made on any of the controls is sensitive and can be felt dramatically in the air. My instructor was surprised how well I was doing - I guess it helps being sailing certified, I understand the wind. For the record, yes you can bring your phone for pictures and videos. We helicoptered around the marina, downtown, kinda the beaches, and then back to the airfield for landing. SO EXHILARATING. Did I just fly a helicopter? I sure did. Logged my first flight, 0.3HRS. And I received a certificate for proof! This got my heart racing and my mind thinking, should I consider getting a flying license?! Hmmm! JABA APPROVED. Until the next review...

I first did a discovery flight with another school in Fullerton, but the instructor demonstrated so many maneuvers that I ended up feeling nauseous. Some schools had programs that didn't fit my schedule, and other airports like John Wayne (SNA) often have long ground delays. I eventually chose to train in Long Beach--where I grew up--and it turned out to be a great decision. From day 1, the experience stood out. I met the owner, Sam Raymond, who was welcoming and down-to-earth. My first flight over the Long Beach harbor confirmed I was in the right place--the views over the training area are beautiful. Aces High's aircraft and instructor rates were also more competitive than many other schools. Aviation isn't easy, but it's very rewarding, and having the right support makes a big difference. Sam, Joy (Chief Instructor), and my main instructor Maxi M. were key in helping me pass my checkride. The school also has a great group of instructors--Chris, Luc, Grayson, Aston, Hilary, Sharon, Hannah, Mike, and Justin-- all great people to learn from.

I was a member of the Long Beach Flying Club briefly in the past, but ended up canceling my…read moremembership rather quickly after joining because I decided I didn't want to fly their very "vintage" planes (more on that below). That said, I was recommending them to numerous friends up until my first-time interaction with their management today. Today, I brought by a fellow pilot friend who's working on his cross country requirements for his Instrument Rating. I suggested to him that Long Beach Flying Club would be a good place to complete these requirements doing dual instruction because he'd get the benefit of completing the requirement while getting some experience with a fleet of very "vintage" aircraft. I actually consider the age and lack of any modernization in their aircraft fleet to be something that pilots should experience, so I didn't consider this a downside. I don't know that I'd want to do all of my training in their fleet of aircraft, but it's worth getting a block of experience flying older planes. So, why the incredibly low rating? Unfortunately, I ran into Susan Baker. She has to be one of the rudest and least professional individuals I've interacted with in the aviation industry since I started flying in 2005. Sadly, she appears to be in charge of the place, so there's no one to escalate the issue to. What this means is even if you have a great instructor, and they do have some good ones, you'll eventually end up having to deal with Susan and she will not be someone who puts you first as the customer. Basically, she told us she was not interested in our business because she was too busy with her "Korean students". Sadly, this denied her instructors the opportunity to pick up an easy 15 hours of cross country instruction. She could have politely explained they didn't have the availability to take on new customers at the moment, but she made it a point to rudely declare, "I am not interested in your business", and then she literally walked away. As management, that sets the tone and culture for the Long Beach Flying club, so I'd guess there are systemic issues there. Unfortunately these sorts of flying schools tend to prey on foreign students because they have less recourse when the school doesn't address their needs, so their focus on this population of students makes sense. I feel bad for any of them that signed up thinking Long Beach Flying Club represents the otherwise great schools available throughout the Southern California area. After this off-putting experience, I reached out to several pilot friends who are part of the Long Beach airport community - it turns out Susan has a pretty bad reputation as no one was surprised by what I shared. So, would I recommend Long Beach Flying Club? I guess there are multiple angles on this. Would I recommend them as a "Flying Club"? Absolutely not - they're flat out rejecting applicants in the rudest possible way. Would I recommend them as a student? Again, no - inevitably you'll have to deal with their management in some way and if Susan is the person you'll end up dealing with, you're going to regret your choices in life. Would I recommend them to instructors looking for a place to teach? No - again, you'll have to deal with Susan and she'll have no issue trashing your potential customers, making it that much more difficult for you to build your flight training business. How about their planes? This one's also a hard no. Long Beach Flying Club has a reputation for having worn out planes with no modernization. They basically do the minimum work they need to do to keep the planes legal to fly (hopefully?). So, my prior recommendation to friends was Long Beach Flying Club is worth considering in spite of their aircraft. So what's left? Not much unfortunately. I'm actually a bit sad to write this review. I know some of the instructors there, and they're good people. But you need to think of your overall future experience as a customer. The instructor is just part of that equation. During this same outing, I took my friend to several flight schools at the airport: Aces High, Angel City Flyers, The Pilot Shop, and Pacific Air. Every single one of those locations had friendly professional service. They each have their advantages, but the unifying theme with each of them is that they seem genuinely customer focused with a well maintained fleet of aircraft. Also, I've done demo flights with both ATP and Sling Academy at Long Beach airport. Both of those academies were professional and friendly if you're looking for an "accelerated" program (I ended up going to one of them, but that's not the point of this review so I won't mention where I ended up). Long Beach Airport is an amazing community of pilots and flight schools. Stay away from Long Beach Flying Club, but please don't take their substandard approach to be at all representative of the rest of the great schools in this larger community!

Great instructors, aircraft are barely kept legal. My second flight there the C-152 I was in…read moreexperienced a landing light switch short (and small fire). Planes are generally very tired because of their age (most 40 yrs old), high hours (20k+ airframe hours), and poor availability due to the large number of students. Especially when compared to other local flight schools. TLDR: Dumb, uninformed, incompetent, petty management. Stay away from Susan Baker. School has a policy that students must pick up their badge applications in person the third time the signature expires. After I lost the first one, Susan Baker maintained that I had applied twice (wrong, this was my second time) and that I would have to pick it up in person. Petty attitude. Was later kicked out by management after getting my PPL by them inappropriately enforcing FAA regulations. Manager Susan Baker believed "tutoring" qualified as "ground instruction" after I placed an advertisement for "PPL Tutoring" on the common room board (for time builders). FAA inspector from Long Beach FSDO disagrees and maintains that "tutoring" does not qualify as "ground instruction." Me getting paid also did not qualify as "for hire" because I was not exercising the privileges of my PPL certificate. Susan did not care upon hearing this and maintained her decision. They did not bother to call me when they saw the advertisement, they saw the ad, cancelled my membership, and immediately called me in to revoke my access. Two CFIs and another business owner of a local flight school agreed that the situation was unnecessary and very unprofessional.

The Flight School & Instructor Dreams Are Made Of…read more Learning to fly is a big deal--it's equal parts thrilling, terrifying, and life-changing. Choosing the right flight school and especially the right flight instructor can make all the difference. From the moment I walked through the doors at this school, I felt like more than just a student--I felt seen, supported, and genuinely cared for. The school runs like a well-oiled machine: professional, organized, safety-focused, and full of heart. But the true magic? My flight instructor. I don't say this lightly: Rul Yacob, my instructor is the absolute best. Not just "great," not just "knowledgeable"--but one of those rare people who combines deep expertise with kindness, patience, and an intuitive understanding of how people learn. He doesn't just teach you to fly--he teaches you to believe you can. He never rushes. He listens. He explains concepts in ways that finally make them click. He celebrates your wins and lifts you up when you're struggling. Every single flight lesson left me better--not just as a pilot, but as a person. Thank you Rul! I recently soloed cross country and I truly couldn't have done it without him. It was one of the most meaningful days of my life, and I'll carry that memory forever--with gratitude, pride, and respect for the teacher who got me there. If you're thinking about learning to fly, do it here. Do it with Rul. Prepare to be inspired, challenged, and completely transformed.
