I had a great experience at Goswick Eye at the Northborough location! All I knew was I neglected my vision for too long, I always drove by Goswick with their iconic Eyeball Sign, I saw they carried designer frames and booked an Appt online quick and easy! My insurance would pay for $180, with stipulations for an additional discount if I got 2 pairs of frames with lenses. The space is very clean and modernized, the Staff were all very professional and friendly, and I didn't get their name but the gentleman who performed my actual eye exam did such a good job! He was patient, taking his time, happily answering all my never-ending questions, re-doing and re-doing different lens strengths when I seemed unsure, going above and beyond to let me make sure my vision exam was as accurate as possible! I truly hope he winds up going far whether at Goswick or having his own Optometry practice, as I couldn't believe how much my vision improved with his help in getting an up to date and accurate new prescription! The selection of glasses is great, however I got the feeling they didn't want customers trying on and browsing the frames without being accompanied by Staff, which is understandable as there were maybe 8 other customers and they are high end designer frames. Although I would have loved being able to see and try on different styles, I didn't mind as the female Staff who was managing the floor was incredibly kind and helpful. I couldn't believe my luck, I went in only knowing I wanted a designer frame that could be both masculine and feminine, something without sharp angles to soften my face, but also professional. The first frames I tried on were exactly what I was looking for! I could not have found a more perfect eyeglass frame, ombre blue to a transparent violet and rounded edges. Business is generally clean and staff is professional but a fair amount of issues over my several years there. First off, my prescription hasn't changed for about 5 years and every year I pay 60$ for the right to renew my contacts with nothing more than a question of are my contacts working out ok. I've questioned this fee and what I get for it and their justification is that insurance reimburses part of it which legitimizes it. I've polled friends and many other practices don't charge this while some elect to. Second, I've had issues communicating through email. They at one point told me I could renew contacts through email and then subsequently told me to call. Most recently I got a call back after my appt saying they misquoted a contact fee and needed to bill me an additional 200$. Also an ophthalmologist was in the practice when I was there asking to speak to Goswick who the staff said never was on site and remotes in from New York periodically, given the number of practices locally i don't love that the owner is absentee. All in all, they got the job done and individual staff are nice but their lack of attentional to detail and random fees are major detractors. Will give them another chance since it's convenient but I'd like to feel less like I'm getting Nickel and dimed left and right. read more

Goswick is awesome , was afraid to go to an Eye Doctor to get my eyes checked for over a year but definitely chose the right place . They are all a very warm and friendly crew that treat you like an actual person , extremely clean , very informative up to date clear X-rays and explanations for a visual learner , not a long waiting period and a smaller cozier office at the Northborough Ma location . An added benefit was the lack of pressure with getting buying glasses coming from someone that is very uncomfortable with Solicitation, they offered me $500 glasses with a style I liked with effort In actually giving me options that knew current trending glasses styles but didn't guilt trip me when I decided I didn't want to spend that on glasses just to help my night vision driving and simply gave me my prescription to seek glasses at a lower price with my Co-pay . read more

Sorry to say it is not a professional experience. The doctor is very professional, and had me in and out in a very short amount of time. Unfortunately the staff in Sudbury is not organized or professional, and the office staff in the main office was unable to help. In the end Goswick was charging me $300 more for contacts than they quoted me. Bait and switch behavior. After 2 emails and 4 phone calls, they claimed the contacts already shipped, and refused to cancel the order. Goswick held my FSA card hostage for multiple weeks, refusing to credit the card, so I could not order the contacts from another place. I ended up with contacts from Costco , without VSP that were $300 less than Goswick. Not the local positive small biz experience you would hope for. read more

This is a fine place to get an eye exam, but take your prescription and run. My expensive glasses broke within the year. It is nearly impossible to get someone on the phone. They recommend using their website for communication. The only response my email received was that it would be shared with the owners. It is not a local store. I had an eye exam, ordered progressive glasses, which didn't fit well and had to retest, and separated distant and reading glasses, again they didnt remake well my new pair of glasses. I asked to check if the new pair matches my prescription. I don't think they did. They lied and let aside the refund, they didn't offer any further option to resolve this. I wear progressive glasses and when I received my glasses they made my vision worse . So when I went to goswick eye in holden,ma. Where I had my exam done for progressive lenses I got single vision lenses . The manager told me they were single vision lenses that's why I couldn't see . Then she explained their policy on returns I had to pay 100.00 dollar return fee for the lenses already made which were the wrong lenses to begin with. A screw up on their end and I had to pay for . Or the other option was to pay 390 dollars for the right prescription and still get hit 100 dollars on top of the 390 dollars . All because they screwed up the customer pays for it . Why would I agree to have them redo the prescription again when they screwed up the first time. That place is running a scam or they are to incompetent . Either or the customer still has to pay for there mistakes. That place is a thief. They only got a star because I had to put a star for the review to go through. in October of 2020 I had an appointment to get my eyes checked the appointment went very well then it came time for glasses and that's where the nightmare began. So I picked out two pair and they started doing the paperwork and I asked them if they were pricing it according to my insurance they assured me that they were but when I got home and compared it to what my insurance company said I should have paid there was a huge difference while I eventually was credited in full for the overage it was an extreme hassle trying to get this corrected. After I got my glasses I returned multiple times because they weren't right they adjusted the glasses they told me to clean the magnets so the clip-ons would stay on and to try them a little longer. I did return again telling them that they still weren't right and that the clip-ons would not stay on and they were nice enough to give me another bottle of cleaner. I returned again this was either the third or fourth time back and by this time I had had the glasses for 7 months. I told the girl that these glasses were terrible and the clip-ons that they had were a joke because the clip-ons did not stay on. The girls went to the back and spoke to somebody in the lab that told me if I wanted to fix it I would have to buy a new pair of lenses and oh by the way your insurance will cover most of it. When I told her this was unacceptable she said well you've had the glasses over 60 days and that is all your insurance company will cover them for. I did purchase the insurance on the glasses and the pair I have was scratched so I was entitled to a new pair. I told the girl I would be more than happy to pay to have the new pair of lenses tinted and she said that the insurance would only cover an exact replacement. Even at 7 months $1,000 pair of glasses should be more than glasses that can be used inside only because the clip-on sunglasses won't stay in place. Again the eye appointment went very well very smooth the doctor knew what she was talking about but I will never buy another pair of glasses from them as there glasses are over prices an service after the sale was terrible from day one. read more

They only care about selling their own contacts, which I have tried and do not like. It is an assembly line of sales people - so be prepared. I voiced that I did not want glasses and to stick with my Acuvue Oasis contacts. They do not hear you out and proceed with the sales pitch every year. I explained I don't want glasses about 20 times to 3 different people. I DON'T WANT GLASSES! I felt like I had to fight for my life to get out of there with a contacts order. Please, put the patient first or else you will lose more people. They are one step ahead of you to meet their quota to sell you something. I am switching eye places. read more

Appointment details and costs were explained up front, and you can tell the equipment is new and well cared for. My exam was thorough and the staff described every step and answered my questions. I had previously visited Dr. Goswick at his Auburn office and received a very thorough and informative check-up. He had used a diagnostic device that blew air into my eye to take an image and stated that it would be helpful for future visits to compare the image. I specifically went back to Goswick Eye even though he is no longer based in Auburn, MA, around the corner from my house. The staff in Northborough were all polite and right on time. However, I felt like I was on an assembly line. I would not mind the efficiency until it came to meeting with the optometrist. It was very rushed, and no real time was provided to discuss any options or alternatives. There was a knock on the office door while she was speaking to me. The optometrist stopped mid-sentence as another staff member came in. At this point, she told me the other employee would take me out to pick out my new glasses. She never bothered to finish her sentence or discuss any options such as contacts or Lasik surgery. I felt like the optometrist was only biding time until the salesperson was available to sell the glasses. She never went out to tell the salesperson we were ready to select glasses. The salesperson came right in and my appointment was clearly over. The optometrist never referenced the original image of my eyes to the new images taken today to evaluate if there was any deterioration from my previous visit, which was why it was recommended to have the images taken in the first place. At this point, it felt like the reason for the assembly line was to move me to the sales floor as fast as possible. I was asked to complete an intake form when I arrived at the office that included areas of interest to me regarding my visit to the optometrist. No one in the visit took the time to review my selections. Once the salesperson went to sell the glasses to me, she was eager to let me know my insurance covered the glasses. As she continued, the reality was the 'coverage' is for a discount on the MSRP of the glasses. I am fully aware that I do not have vision insurance. This is just a sales tactic. This same approach was used when my daughter came to Goswick Eye. I came fully prepared to purchase glasses and to find out if I could consider pursuing Lasik for the future. The experience was very disappointing compared to when Dr. Goswick had a practice in Auburn. I left as soon as possible after feeling like "making a sale" was the only thing Goswick Eye was concerned about. I can see from having 6 offices listed that this focus is on volume and no longer on personal attention. read more

I went to the new Worcester location for my exam. I felt like I was part of an assembly line. One person took me in the first room for testing. Then I was asked to sit in the waiting area until the next room opened. Then I was brought in for my next part to determine my prescription. Then I was asked to sit in the waiting room again. Then finally I was brought in to see the actual eye doctor. Once I decided on the frames I was going to purchase, with no help from the staff, I went to the front desk to ask about pricing and to order them. I received my glasses within two weeks in the mail without a case. I was never told they did not come with a case or if I would like to purchase one. I am very unhappy with my experience and will not be going back. read more

I've been using LensCrafters since I was a kid. The one local to me I've used a few times, and I wasn't all that keen on the Dr. I didn't feel that she cared, I was just another patient and I never felt that my prescription was right. With Gostwick Eye I had the first "real" exam I've had since I was a kid. I feel very comfortable with all of the staff that took care of both Hubby and I. Dr. Gostwick explained everything clearly and with good analogies and a sense of humor. Every person that works there is friendly, caring and helpful. read more

Northborough location: Dr.Miller is the rudest eye doctor. When I told her that I wore contact lens in the past, she threw the lens on the desk heavily, do it, treating me like I am a criminal. I need the mirror and chair, but she then said she would do it for me. Incredible rude for everything, impossibly believe her rudeness if not at the site. Then she opened a sample box with 6.0 prescription, give 5 single lens for going home trying, she turned to be incredibly mad when I asked for 6.5, then she hit the desk by the paper, then left room with even bumping herself by the door frame. I asked her why she had such a bad attitude, I could pay the sample. She treated the sample lens like her treasure, and the way she treated me like I am a criminal for every question I asked. Then in the end, at the front desk, the supervisor Patrick was also holding those samples like his personal belongings which I gave them back. My husband paid for thePRE so-called great PREMIUM progressive glasses with all the codes adding on, insurance covered $400 for the frame and the lens plus so high out of pocket, it is not right glasses at all. The lady who did the glasses for my husband is NOT an optician or NOT a technician. But guess what, no customer service after pay, of course there is no refund if the glasses are not right. This location does not give 1 cent back for anything they didn't do or did wrong! Dr.Miller charged me the full exam cost without doing anything in Nov. visit. She opened the sample contact lens box to give each single sample like she gives away her own money, but she still was trying to charge the contact fitting cost? Having moved and looking for a new optometrist, I chose Goswick due to the positive reviews here. But, my experience was the complete opposite. I felt like Dr. Goswick was not personable at all. Bedside manner is as important as providing medical information with patients but Dr. Goswick never took the time to ask me about myself or even my optical history. I was surprised by this because I was a new patient so, one would think, he would want to know this. Even when I tried commenting on certain issues I've had, he just kept talking. I felt like he was talking "at" me, trying to sell me things. One of those things was a brand of contacts they sell at Goswick, even though he said they couldn't get the strength of my prescription in that brand. I waited over three weeks for a trial pair to come in then, as I suspected, I couldn't see with them. When I went back, he condescendingly told me that comes with age. I didn't appreciate the way he spoke down to me. I've worn glasses for almost 40 years so I know my eyes very well. I informed him that my current prescription had worked just fine so he finally agreed to re-write that prescription. Ironically, I was able to order my contacts online for $100 less than what Goswick quoted as the price. I'm going somewhere else next time! Sidenote: the front desk staff was very pleasant. Don't think I'll be returning to the Holden site. Was there for a contact lens fitting/exam and the optometrist could not have been less social. The OD didn't ask my name & seemed awkward. I mentioned to the OD that this was my first experience with contacts and he provided very little explanation as to what he was doing or why or how contacts work. This location was recently purchased from a retiring OD who was much more friendly & answered my questions patiently and explained each step of the exam. Not sure what I paid for since I was told I would have to return for two more visits, one a training & the other for a follow up exam, both at additional costs. And I only learned at the very end of the exam that the OD wasn't able to fit the contact in my left eye, an important fact that the OD neglected to mention. The Front Desk ladies were more professional & knowledgeable & friendly but there was one staff who just walked around chatting with her colleagues, apparently with nothing to do. This office seems a bit disorganized. Very disappointed with this visit. read more

I have never had such an awful interaction with a business, let alone the owner of healthcare business. After having a very good eye exam with Dr goswick and having bought a pair of glasses there 6 months ago, I returned to purchase another pair of glasses last week. After the very helpful staff were having alot of difficulty figuring out my insurance policy, i tried to help. I provided them the benefit information that the insurance company had just emailed me that day. At that point emily goswick got involved and insinuated that the information i provided couldn't be correct and she told me that i should call the insurance company again to het the correct information. When i suggested that she do that since i had already gotten it and she wouldnt want to trust what i told her, since didn't this time, she looked very surprised. Lo and behold one of her staff did find that the info i provided was correct. While i then proceeded with the glasses purchase it dawned on me that they may have been similarly confused about my coverage when i purchased the first pair there and i may jave been charged incorrectly. I asked her (to this point i still didnt know that she was emily or the owner) if she could look at my records to see whether they billed me correctly on the earlier purchase. She got very defensive and told me that i should stop this new transaction and that there was no need to look at the past invoice as she would not do anything to refund me any money even if it was done wrong and they had made a mistake. I had never asked for a refund! I requested to speak with dr goswick, who i had the established relationship with but she told me he was busy and that any conversation with him would not be productive and that since she was emily goswick(after i finally asked who she was), the co-owner, her decision was final. I reminded her that I had never asked for a refund and asked her why she assumed this in my case. She said thats what all patients want, money back!!! at that point i decided this was no longer productive and i was not going to do any further business with goswick eye. When i got home i called the office to ask that they email me the copy of my purchase from 6 months ago. The staff said that emily needed to review and would call me back. Fortunately, i found my bill at home and lo and behold they had not billed the insurance company at all and so i was over-charged! They did make a mistake and emily the owner never had the courtesy to return my call. This error could have been a simple mistake or it could have been something else, but to not listen to the customer, not assist with understanding my concerns, infer that she didn't want me as a patient/customer or return my call makes me feel that this is not a business that deserves my business or others. read more

The day of my appointment went great. The technician was absolutely wonderful and pleasant. However, they did not ask if I wanted retinal imaging, which isn't covered by insurance. I declined at another eye doctor due to not wanting to pay the extra charge. Then the eye doctor came in and proceeded to talk down to me about asking for the pupillary distance for my eyeglass prescription. She said that I shouldn't buy online and that they have a good selection there. Then I got charged $88 and asked for the breakdown, which the man at the register could not tell me what that breakdown was. So I called later and asked for a receipt. I got it sent and the person explained it which was nice. Later, I had called to see when my contacts would be in because I had trial lenses that only lasted me 4 days - one a day lenses. They told me they couldn't give me more because they already gave me some and that they didn't know when my contacts would be in and that I could just wear my old glasses. I called back later and another man said I could come pick up more trial lenses. Then I get my explanation of benefits and was confused by it so I called and they just short handed explained it to me. After poking and prodding another lady called and explained it. I confirmed with my insurance company and they said that they didn't take off the discount for the contact fitting - plus Goswick said that they covered the fitting but not the exam. They really don't even know what they're saying most of the time. I would go elsewhere in a heart beat. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I normally do not give bad reviews. But this was the worst eye experience I have ever had. They increase the prices for glasses and services so that after insurance they are paid in full and you don't get any discount. I have two eye insurance policies. They billed both companies but only gave me the discount on one policy. It took me over 3 months of going back and forth and in the end I received the minimum discount allowed by my insurer. My insurance company tried negotiating with Goswick and they would not honor their original offer to rebill my insurance. Instead they sent me a check for $150 which is the amount my insurance would reimburse me if I went out of network. Goswick is in my insurance network and if they had billed it right I would have received close to $600 off of two pairs of glasses instead I got $150. read more

New glasses have been ordered. I'm glad I shopped here instead of Lenscrappers aka LensCrafters which is owned by Luxottica. The frames sold at LensCrafters are a rip-off as they are made in china, cheaply made and marked up over 800%. This time I didn't choose my frames from a mass market brand. The fact that I chose Oliver Peoples was a result of the "buy it for life" ethos of the Trad/Preppie subculture. I asked on blogs and forums and Oliver Peoples was held in esteem for build quality. OP glasses are sold mostly in independent boutiques. I got real value with frames who's quality justifies the price, knowledgeable service, and an ophthalmologist who's mission was to get me lenses that would correct my vision precisely, a type of progressive lens compatible with photography, and a coating that would maintain color fidelity. The doctor caught a mistake the eye doctor at LensCrafters made which was a too strong prescription. No obnoxious up selling or aggressive selling found at the big box stores. Sales staff who talked me out of a more expensive pair because it wasn't going to work with my script and progressive. Nothing was obscenely marked-up compared with the quality of frame and lens offerings. I did pay an extra 300 over my last pair but these ones will last nearly a lifetime for me. TL;DR If you like Oliver Peoples, buy here as they have a better selection on stock. They're not going to rip you off. Everyone from the techs to Dr. Goswick are extremely knowledgeable and want to sell you a pair that will exceed your expectations. read more

I have been going to the office in Auburn for years and was ecstatic when they opened up the Northborough office closer to me. Dr.Goswick is very knowledgeable as well as the rest of the team. This is the only place I get my glasses from since they have a great array of frames and brands to choose from. The office and staff are very personable and always want the best for their patients. I couldn't imagine going to one of those chains after all my wonderful experiences with Dr.Goswick and his team! read more
