I had been wanting to try Gorilla Barbeque for the longest time but between their limited hours and the super long lines anytime we drove by, I didn't get my chance until last weekend. We got there about 10 minutes before they opened and there was already a queue of people lining up so we quickly took our place in line as well. They opened exactly at 12 and they let in one party at a time to place an order to go. Everything is already made in the back so it's a simple matter of telling them what you want, then they package it up for you and you're on your way. They have a limited menu right now as well, but we opted to go for a 1/2 pound of brisket, 2 hot links, and 2 cornbread. While the bbq was good, it wasn't out of this world spectacular. The brisket actually was a little on the dry side which was somewhat disappointing, but at least they give you the bbq sauce on the side to dip it in. Having the sauce made everything better and there were some nice fatty bits in the brisket that made everything a little bit more moist and flavorful. The hot links are actually pretty spicy and packed a bit of a kick to them. If you're someone who's into that, I would definitely recommend you try these. By far my favorite part of the meal was the cornbread - super fluffy and lightly sweet, it made for the perfect side to go with our meal. While I don't anticipate scrambling to get back to Gorilla Barbeque anytime soon, it's definitely worth at least one visit for anyone who is curious. read more

It only took me 13 years to finally try this place. I first heard about it in San Antonio, TX from a buddy when I was in the military. I told him where I was from and the first thing he ask if I had ever been to Gorilla BBQ. My go-to is the ribs, so moist and falls off the bone. For Brisket you have the option to get it lean/fatty/mixed, I recommend mixed to see what you like. Personally I prefer fatty because sometimes the lean is a tad bit dry. For me, the pulled pork sandwich wasn't the best, if it wasn't for the extra bbq sauce I probably couldn't have finished it. Also The bread just didn't do it for me. I took one bite and just decided to take it home. However, when I got home I put the sandwich in the air fryer to toast the bread, threw on some bbq sauce and potato salad and that made it 100x better. If I do get the chicken I'll eat the white meat first so it doesn't dry out, but the dark chicken meat deserves a chefs kiss If you're able to get there early I'd recommend doing so. The line gets decently long. There's a reward inside for the first person in line, hint, it's edible. read more

We had the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich (huge sandwich and full of flavor), 1/2 lbs Brisket half fatty and half lean (great smoke ring and flavor) and the 1/2 rack of ribs. Hands down the best Pork Ribs I've ever had. I mean, so juicy, so tender, so much flavor but not overbearing. Everything fell off the bone but it had integrity still. The seasoning was not overly salty as a lot of places can be and had this subtle sweetness. I don't know how to describe it other than it hit my mouth and I was sooo happy. OMG. First off this place is too cute! It's right off of the highway it's not very hard to miss. There is no seating area inside so you'll eat inside your car. The idea of it is really cute. The BBQ is decent for the Bay Area. I got there at 12 when they opened and was 1 of 2 people was in and out in 3 mins. I had a whole smoked chicken and it was nice and moist. OMG this is hand down the best bbq I've had in the Bay Area. Usually when I drive by this place, there's a huge line and I always say I'll stop by "next time". I Came here on a Saturday around 3 pm and noticed the line wasn't too bad so I thought, "here's my chance to try it out!" Now I understand why the lines are so long. Stopped here for lunch, we ordered a tri-tip, chicken and pulled pork sandwiches for lunch and we all loved them, the reason I didn't do a 5 star is due to the "sides". They are more of an hors d'oeuvre size; the Mac and cheese we rated is a 3 out of 10, the corn bread was an 8 but also the size was laughable. We would go back for the bbq and leave the sides alone. Absolutely a great value. Definitely not my type of bbq, but the tenderness of the meat and seasoning is amazing that you can't critique it. The portion sizes are great and the price point is fair. The last time I came we were looking for a place to sit after running on the beach and of course we were starving and saw that they removed the picnic benches in the back area. We ended up coming an hour before opening so we could get in line first and it was definitely worth the wait. I had really high expectations and finally had the patience to wait in line for an hour just to try it over the weekend. I arrived at 12:30, which was my first big mistake. The wait at that time was an hour long! I was starving by the time I got to the front of the line. Word of advice - go early! I ordered the following items: 1) Half Rack of Ribs - this was my favorite item ordered. It was smoked nicely, but wasn't as tender as what I'm used to. In addition, it was slightly on the dry side. However the special BBQ sauce was a great addition and worked well with the ribs! 2) Beef Brisket - I usually love beef brisket, but the pieces that i got were a little on the tougher side. It was also a tad dry. Nonetheless, again, the sauce was great! I wouldn't be able to eat the brisket without the special BBQ sauce! 3) Pulled pork sandwich - solid sandwich, but I wasn't too impressed considering the pulled pork was also dry. Gorilla is open only on Saturday and Sunday with a limited menu. But for me the highlight was the Triple D Takeout Special "Turkey Gorilla Berry Sandwich." It was everything I thought it would be - perfectly smoked turkey, coleslaw, and their berry habanero compote. Of course while here we also snagged up 1/2 rack of ribs, 1/2 lb pulled pork, and a brisket sandwich. To think our bbq day couldn't have gotten any better, it did! Okay so maybe my expectations were too high or something because I was expecting so much more flavor and better overall quality. We ordered the ribs, link and brisket. (They were out of chicken) The ribs looked sooooo tasty, but the taste didn't align with how good they looked. They were a bit bland.
