What an interesting experience we had at GB in the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta. A rough start ended with remarkable service from the friendliest kindest and most thoughtful bartender that I have ever encountered anywhere during my extensive travel experience, coupled with a follow up by the General Manager. We arrived for a late dinner having cleared Customs expeditiously (thank goodness for Global Entry), with an hour or so before our connecting flight to O'Hare was to begin boarding. Up the escalator we went to a vibrant restaurant/bar that seemed a perfect place to grab dinner. The problem was no hostess to greet and seat us. After watching a dozen or so people come up the escalator, line up behind us and then leave back the down escalator we decided to go somewhere else. At that moment a young lady got off the escalator and seamed stunned that no one was at the stand to greet us. She apologized and took us to a table. Five minutes later--and very disappointed--I decided to go to the bar to order drinks for our table. Here is where a heretofore awful experience turned remarkably into a tremendously positive experience. The vivacious, friendly and exceptionally courteous bartender LORI took my drink order promptly and offered to bring them to my table. I sad that wasn't necessary took two drinks to the table and returned to the bar to pay the tab and retrieve the other two drinks. She looked mortified and asked had we been waited on. When I said no she came from behind her fully occupied bar and came to our table and immediately took our order. That was not her responsibility but was incredibly thoughtful as I'd mentioned we had a tight connecting flight. The food and drinks were delicious! The fish & chips reminded me of an Irish pub--authentic, fresh and perfectly fried. The chicken breast, burger and BLTA (BLT plus avocado) were, according to my family members similarly delicious. Before we paid the tab the GM Mark Timis came over to apologize about our experienced delay and to see if he could make it right. I did not and would never ask for anything for free--but his approach was much appreciated by all of us. I explained that LORI had provided OUTSTANDING service and was an enthusiastic excellent customer service driven employee deserving of recognition and advised that I'd be writing a review saying so. I gave this restaurant a second chance because I truly hoped my first experience was just an unfortunate fluke. Sadly, my second visit confirmed that it was not. During my first visit, I was immediately met with discomfort and unprofessional behavior when I arrived with my trained medical service dog. At the host stand, staff members visibly reacted negatively, making comments about needing to "put her somewhere away from everyone," which is both inappropriate and not consistent with service animal access laws. I was seated and then moved multiple times because some servers were uncomfortable walking past a dog, which created an embarrassing and stressful dining experience. Hoping things would be different, I returned -- but the same treatment happened again. Upon arrival, I overheard negative comments being made about my service dog. I was intentionally seated in an isolated and undesirable location seemingly to keep me "out of the way," and was again moved during my visit. A trained service dog is medical equipment -- not a nuisance or a choice -- and being treated this way is both disappointing and unacceptable. No guest should feel singled out, inconvenienced, or made to feel unwelcome because of a disability accommodation. I wanted to support this business and truly gave it another chance, but unfortunately the repeated lack of professionalism, awareness, and basic courtesy has made it clear I will not be returning. read more

It's pretty big, has a bar and lots of table seating. SERVICE (4/5): I feel like most airport restaurants have quick service because they know most people have a time constraint. FOOD (3/5): $20 FISH & CHIPS: comes with 3 large fried fish. I wanted to change the "chips" (fries) for a salad. I knew there might be an up-charge, but all they did was not give me my fries and charged me for an additional side salad. If that was the case I would have taken my FISH & CHIPS as is and got myself a side salad. Could've taken those fries on the plane with me. $5.25 SIDE CAESAR SALAD: (which I thought would be the replacement to my fries on my fish & chips). It was good! Strangely my first time here. It's a nice oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal. Upstairs on Terminal A. A large bar with plenty of options for beer and all spirits. The food was pretty darn good. I had the Cajun Tacos. A couple of unique preparations made these tacos really good. For one they wrapped a soft taco shell outside a hard taco shell which is brilliant. Secondly, the chopped up the fish into smaller pieces and then Cajun seasoned them. Another brilliant preparation. All in all. A really good experience. Service was amazing at the bar. I've been missing out on this place for all of the trips I've done here. A definite place to return to. read more

My sister and I had some time to kill before our flight so we grabbed lunch. We got seated right away in which our hostess was also our waitress. It took some time to find a place since we weren't in the mood for breakfast food even though it was 9 am. We were relieved to come across this place. We shared my first Bloody Mary which I found to be oddly savory but also kind of good. Craving something hearty, we also shared an order of their Grilled cheese with spicy tomato soup and an order of Shrimp & grits. The grilled cheese was soft, salty, and well toasted. The spicy soup was okay but perfect for dipping. I was pleasantly surprised by the burst of flavor from the shrimp & grits especially since I've only had the dish a handful of times. Overall, we had a good experience. Our waitress seemed a little stressed and therefore short with us. But after things seemed to roll over, her kind personality quickly showed through. The waitress did take it off the fish and chips from the bill, but didn't give us a plate to share my husband's meal Hubbys dish was also cold but not as bad as mine so we shared his. Gordon Biersch is certainly a better than average dining option at the airport. We tried the fried green tomatoes and were pleasantly surprised at how good they tasted and how little grease they had. The mushroom burger was cooked medium rare as requested, which hardly ever happens elsewhere. The Cali Chicken sandwich was well seasoned and also cooked well. Clinesha did a great job waiting on us and acting as hostess. It was also very nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main airport since the restaurant is upstairs. On Feb-22nd while being stuck at the airport due to cancelation of my flight, I decided to try Gorden Biersch restaurant for lunch. I only ordered the chicken sandwich with a glass of water. I paid with my credit card and did not think of anything until today when I found out through my credit card, that this restaurant (or perhaps the waiter short guy with glasses if I recall) has been charging me outrageous amount under the restaurant name repeatedly. See my attached charges. I keep calling the restaurant and I get a busy signal. So don't go to this restaurant or if you do, pay with cash. We have come here twice to eat while waiting on our flight, and both times have been delightful! We were sat immediately, and our server came right over to us. Drinks are delicious: the spicy margarita is SPI-CY!!! Just the way i like it! My husband got the IPA brewed in house, and he loved it. Today, I got the caesar with shrimp. the shrimp was flavorful and served hot, and the lettuce was fresh. My husband's barbecue sandwich was delicious as well. My only complaints are that the food can sometimes take a little bit of time if it's busy, so plan around your flight, and the menu is pretty pricey. I'll be back! read more

Hubby and I were starving in Atlanta with a layover while flying coach coast to coast. We knew we needed more than peanuts and pretzels to nourish our all-day travel, so we stopped in at Gordon Biersch, hoping to find some healthy eats. (Everything downstairs in the terminal looked like fried and more fried.) We scored a seat by the window, ordered 2 iced teas and relaxed and watched the planes come and go. The atmosphere was much more pleasant than the eateries in the terminal downstairs. We ordered the seared ahi to split, and our expectations were not high, being that we weren't particularly close to the ocean. It took longer than you would expect in an airport, but we had a long layover, so it wasn't a problem. When our order arrived, we were given the ahi and greens, rather than the seared ahi. The dish was not as filling to split, since the seared ahi came with rice; however, the ahi we received was very fresh and tasted delicious. Aside from screwing up our order, the server was very nice and kept our teas refilled. We didn't bother telling him we got something other than our order, and we didn't dock his tip, since he was such a nice fellow. Overall, 3 stars and the comment that the ahi was surprisingly fresh for an airport restaurant. read more

There were two of us that came here. One got the bourbon salmon and he said it was ok. I had the bratwurst's. We both had the garlic fries. The fries were room temp at best. We complained and they brought out two "new" orders of fries. They were only mildly warmer. In no way were they a new order fresh from the frier. The bratwurst had almost no flavor to them. The cup of mustard for my bratwurst had been sitting long enough that it had a skin coating on it. The manager came over and had no excuse. Offered another order of fries to go. We stopped by for a quick lunch during our layover & the food was really good! Service was a tad slow but we had a lot of time to kill so it was okay with us. We shared the pretzel, fried artichoke hearts and garlic fries for appetizers which were very yummy! Pretzel is huge -- the cheese fondue wasn't anything to write home about, but still tasty. Garlic fries are super yummy but I will say... VERY garlic-y & greasy. The artichoke hearts were AMAZING & the lemon aioli to dip them in was fantastic. The people working there are nice, but the food is just not good enough. I don't eat much fried food or burgers, so I picked a Caesar Salad and added chicken. The lettuce was good (chopped romaine), but the cheese was little matchstick bits (processed?) and the croutons were similarly manufactured looking, not great tasting rectangular pieces of undistinguished fried bread. It came with two plastic cups of dressing that was the consistency of thick mayo. The chicken was warm and sliced, but didn't appear to be freshly cooked. It's not that difficult to grate cheese, toast croutons or mix up a real Caesar dressing. I was having a looooong day, so the ability to sit at a bar with enough space around me was appreciated, but why can't airport dining rise above mediocre? There is no bathroom in the restaurant, so use the terminal bathroom before you ascend the escalator. read more

Stopped on here during a layover and enjoyed that the restaurant was upstairs on its own kind of set away from the airport hustle and bustle - it felt like a bit of a reprieve. There was a lot of seating at the bar and I enjoyed the cucumber and lime Margarita and pretzel sausage sliders. The meal was good with a spicy brown mustard, and my drink was refreshing as well. Service was so so bit I enjoyed my meal, so I upped it a star. The garlic fries also smelled amazing although I didn't order them myself. We stopped in ATL from JAX on the way to SEA. They were only serving breakfast at 9am and I got the classic breakfast - scrambled eggs with cheese and it came out like a perfect omelet - pleasantly surprised! They also made crispy bacon perfect without me asking them to cook it well done! My husband got the veggie egg scramble and he said it was fantastic.
