I've had Goosecup on my list to check out for almost a year and I'm glad I was able to stop by twice this past weekend since I was in town for a wedding. Both experiences were pleasant and the baristas are pretty helpful with giving suggestions. There's a lot of open space here, whether that is catching up over food/coffee or getting work done. They also offer a variety of alcohol and drinks here if that's your thing. There's also a nice outdoor patio that's ideal during breezy summer days. I also like that they don't close early here! BROWN SUGAR SHAKEN ESPRESSO - 5.50 +0.50 for oat milk. The barista on Friday recommended this drink when I asked her the drink that's most unique to Goosecup. If you're enjoying it at the shop, the drink comes in an old-fashioned glass. I enjoyed the drink a lot since I could taste the espresso well and it went well with the brown sugar syrup. The drink is not too sweet, which is what I prefer and I'm glad to see all of it blend well together in a simple, yet delicious drink. ESPRESSO TONIC - 5.50 If you ask for less ice, they give you only like 60% of the drink. I wonder how much of the drink I'd get if I asked for no ice, yikes. Goosecup is a bustling cafe with a wide variety of foods, coffees and teas, as well as some wine too! Staff is super friendly and work quickly to get orders out. I got an iced coffee and sandwich both which were delicious. It was pricey, over $20 for a cafe meal so just be prepared for that! There is lots of seating throughout the shop but it was very crowded when I went so there was no seating available. Parking is difficult here - a very small number of spaces are available in the parking lot for Goosecup (parking spaces are marked by business or residential). After looking over the menu - at the time I visited - cold brews are not listed. So I asked. And they have cold brews. The bearded dude behind the counter explained how some of the menus were missing the cold brew. So I ordered the cold brew - with a splash of half n' half - and a blueberry muffin warmed up. My largest complaint, hence the removal of a star, is the staff. Their drip coffee is some of the best in the area. Perhaps it's due to their $2600 drip coffee machine or maybe because they roast their own coffee beans at their roastery in Berryville. Their flavored espresso drinks are a step above anything you'll get from Starbucks because they make their own syrups from scratch (orange, lavender, and vanilla). Definitely try the mochas here because they make their own chocolate ganache. Real chocolate makes a huge difference in the taste of mochas! Because their chocolate ganache is made with oat milk, they can offer vegan mochas here. Their $30,000 La Marzocco espresso machine is an impressive beast that evidences the owners' mentality of going the extra mile in pursuit of excellence. About their alcoholic drinks... This is a great place to bring a friend or two to share a bottle of wine over a meat and cheese board. But a real highlight here are their cocktails which rival those at the best bars in the area. I first experienced Goosecup at the start of the shutdown. I thought it was a great spot for a little normalcy (you know having a great cup of coffee and croissant to start the day). The staff was great and pleasant and the atmosphere was a match! I loved how you had the option to sit inside or outside, which are both "normal" options. The bakery items are grand and you can have them warmed or room temp (your choice). I immediately became hooked on the croissants and a lavender latte. Each time I've visited, I ordered an extra croissant for later. Seriously the best thing ever when warmed. If you're into beer, they happen to have a cold case with beer choices. There are milk options as well if you prefer things like oat milk. They also have warm breakfast sandwiches, but those darn croissants had me hooked and I could not venture off onto the "wild" side. Super cute coffee and bar spot. Love the vibe. My kids absolutely loved the place and they don't even drink coffee. There's a cute little kids table off to the left of the entrance that my little ones happily parked themselves while I ordered. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and the place was pretty packed already, but pleasantly not loud. Due to the time there were only two pastries available, the flourless chocolate brownie and a (slightly crumbled) chocolate chip cookie; we tried both. Both received the stamp of approval from the kids and they were quite sweet, but would have paired perfectly with a hot cup of coffee. We also ordered an iced mocha and their most popular drink, an iced lavender latte with oat milk. I read a lot of remarks about the prices at this business and I have to say that they are on par with most coffee shops that I visit. Especially for one that makes their own syrups and roasts their own coffee in house. However, since most of us have been devouring way more sugar than we should in our cafe for years, we're used to that sugar bomb to carry us through the morning. The lavender latte with oat milk wasn't too overpowering however the coffee flavor was a bit muted by the ice and oat milk combo. The mocha was a bit bitter at first but mellowed out towards the middle of the drink once the ice had a chance to melt. I would probably try both of these hot next time to get the real experience but since it was 90 degrees out, I opted for the iced version. They also serve real food aside from pastries but since we had already had lunch we just had dessert. Love the area around Goosecup and the inside is even cuter! We ordered a lavender latte, chocolate croissant, and an egg and cheese sandwich. There's lots of seating available, and you can even grab a table and scan the code to order and pay while your order gets brought to your table. We wanted to hear the specials so we went up to the register. Ordering was easy and the employees are super friendly and helpful. Once we ordered we grabbed an empty table. For the coffee, we picked it up at the bar while our food was brought straight to our table. Their syrups are made in house and you can tell from the taste. The lavender latte was delicious and not too sweet and overpowering. The chocolate croissant came warmed up and was great. The egg and cheese sandwich was definitely the highlight and so delicious! It came with an amazing aioli sauce on it with tomatoes as well. Overall it was a great breakfast stop for us and a good day to eat outside and enjoy our meal. My issues are a lack of options for a coffee bar, due to beer and wine, which takes up 2/3s of the drink menu. Not everyone can have sugar, and their lack of sugar-free options has me not returning to this place. When you request a tip at the register at payment time and you provide no service, I find it offensive. Barrister just slides you drinks and yells you name and doesn't acknowledge even a Thank you. And lastly, no cash for payment policy, you have lost me. Your coffee alone is not enough for a repeat customer. Too many better options... read more
