I needed a cup to giddy up, so it was nice that Cuppa Giddy Up saved the morning while walking around Middleburg. It's a small coffee shop on the basement level on the main street, so may be easy to miss. But if you make it here, they'll have everything you need to giddy up for the day. We visited Cuppa Giddy Up in the late morning on a Monday and the place wasn't busy, but with just one other customer in line. The space is very small, as it serves more so as a take-out establishment versus a cafe where you can sit and sip, which was fine with us because we planned to take our drinks to go. The menu was large enough, with different coffee and tea drinks, with many different flavors. I ordered a drip, which was solid. Nothing special, but I just needed to wake up, so it got the job done. As for food, there were just a few pastries at the counter available. But inside, there's a bathroom and a space that has a brochure and map of Middleburg and other tourist guides. Glad to know that Cuppa Giddy Up is here for a caffeine fix in Middleburg.

Nice coffee shop in Middleburg VA. Located underground in one if the buildings on Main St Middleburg. Mocha Prafuccino I got was décadent and a bit sweeter than I prefer but otherwise was tasty and definitely not skimping on that mocha flavor. I should try the Iced Coffee next time. Place has a bathroom where you can wash your hands. It's also dog friendly like any other stores in Middleburg, also has a bowl of treats for your pup was a plus, so 4 stars well-deserved!

BLUF: Amazing coffee & pastries. Try out the specialty drinks! Will come back everytime I pass through Middleburg. Food (5/5): They have scones, muffins, and chocolate filled croissants! Probably more but those are what I got. They were delicious. I assume all of those are not homemade since they didn't have a kitchen, but whatever store they were bought at, I wish I knew so I could get more. Coffee (5/5): We got the creme brulee and ginger snap coffees 16oz both with oatmilk. $6.22 for the coffees each. They were both amazing. I went back for another ginger snap coffee because it was THAT good. Service (5/5): The lady at the counter was so sweet. I assume she was the owner. She chatted with us for a little bit, but focused on making the coffee and getting the pastries together. I appreciate that since the smell of coffee was so strong and nice that I was just confused on getting coffee rather than talking.

We stopped by for some coffee while visiting Middleburg. The place is kinda small and a bit unclean but has decent enough coffee with prices comparable to Starbucks. The service was quick and friendly.

Got a cup of coffee while out wandering the streets of Middleburg today. Cuppa Giddy Up is a tiny little place, you go down a set of stairs into a basement of sorts - AND BEWARE! Watch your head clearance going down - otherwise you may whack your head! There is one little love seat and a coffee table, and two chairs for seating. In addition to coffee, you can get all the standard espresso drinks, and a few eats - like some breakfast sandwiches, scones, and other baked goods. I ordered a small coffee. They hand you a cup and you choose which one to fill your cup. I chose the "Columbian Organic." Added some cream and one Splenda. Very strong and tasty coffee! I'm a fan!

We spent a leisurely and enjoyable afternoon exploring Middleburg. We wanted to grab a cup of coffee and chose this one based on the reviews. I was left scratching my head because this is nothing special in my book. The coffee was fine but the actual shop did not make me want to come back. I will try another local place if I am in town.

Hit this coffee house on the way to Route 11 Potato Chip Company. Really small, but cute and quaint. Tiny seating area with one coffee (natch) table, love seat and a rocking chair. There was only one barista working at the time, but she was quick and friendly. Since it was 9am and nothing else in the town was open yet, there was a small crowd of what seemed to be regulars there. I ordered a Peppermint Mocha frappaccino-like drink and it was fabulous. Not too bitter like the Starbucks version. Cuppa also offers smoothies! The pastries here looked awesome, especially the mint fudge brownies. I am so getting one of those next time.

From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and calm, elegant setting create a true retreat feeling--relaxing, intimate, and perfectly set up for an unforgettable dinner. We started with the baked brie, and it was the perfect opener. Warm, creamy, and beautifully rich, it had that comforting, indulgent feel without being too heavy. It was the kind of appetizer that makes you pause after the first bite and think, "Okay, this is going to be special." We also shared a salad that was far better than any "starter salad" has a right to be. The greens were crisp and fresh, but the real surprise was the croutons--light, buttery, and so tender they practically melted in your mouth. Every bite felt balanced, simple in the best way, and clearly made with care. For the main course, we ordered the chicken under brick and the scallops risotto, and both were genuinely memorable. The chicken under brick had a beautifully crisp exterior, with juicy, tender meat underneath--full of flavor and cooked exactly right. The scallops were seared perfectly, with that delicate golden crust and soft, buttery center. Paired with the creamy risotto, it felt luxurious and comforting at the same time. It was the kind of dish you keep talking about afterward because it is that good. Dessert somehow raised the bar even more. The chocolate tart was rich, smooth, and deeply satisfying--pure indulgence. The fruit tart was fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced, with a delicate crust and vibrant flavors that made it feel light and refreshing after such an incredible meal. Both desserts were truly delicious and the perfect ending. The service matched the food and atmosphere: welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. Every interaction made the night feel even more special, and it never felt rushed--just warm and thoughtful from start to finish. And a special mention to our waitress, Rae--the most pleasant, kind, accommodating, and positive soul you can find. Her smiling welcome immediately put us at ease and made us feel so happy to be there. She truly elevated the entire experience. If I can give this place seven stars, I would!

I have to be honest that we were both a little apprehensive about dinner- we weren't overly excited by any of the menu options. We had absolutely nothing to worry about. The pave of young chicken was the best chicken I've ever had- I honestly did not know chicken could be this tender and flavorful. We also really enjoyed the Caesar, which the kitchen kindly split onto two plates for us- you could tell this was made with local, high-quality ingredients. There was an excellent bread service (I just love a bread service) and I really enjoyed my cocktail- I can't remember what was in it, but I believe it was called Let's Tart It Over and it tasted like Fruity Pebbles! Sunday brunch was maybe even better than dinner. They have a really smart way of serving brunch family-style in two courses. You start with another (excellent!) bread/pastry service and then the first course is an absolutely incredible salad, fresh fruit with mint, and two mini avocado toasts with Brussels sprouts (which were unique, but the only thing we didn't love). The second course was an assortment of breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch pancakes, and pear French toast. The eggs weren't amazing, but every single other thing was- the chicken sausage in particular was so fresh and delicious. And there's a whole table of desserts to choose from to end your meal! It's a good amount of food, but you're welcome to box up leftovers. I have to give a shoutout to Mohamed, our incredible server who we were lucky enough to have for both meals. He was kind, attentive, and had excellent recommendations. We were celebrating a birthday and he is one of the only servers I've ever had who truly made a birthday feel special and memorable, paying special attention to our table and bringing my mother sweet treats and bubbles to celebrate. It truly made our night and morning! Thank you, Mohamed!

I'll be reviewing each hotel, along with their spas, restaurants and experiences. While I'll share individual reviews, I'll also include some comparisons between them. This review covers our first stop on day one high tea at Harriman's at the Salamander in Middleburg. On that Saturday, we flew into Dulles and drove straight to Salamander Middleburg just to experience their high tea, even though we weren't staying there that evening (we returned four days later). We were not disappointed. The entire high tea experience was lovely. We arrived a few minutes early and waited outside until our reservation time. The staff made it clear they couldn't seat us early, which I completely understood, as they had strict time slots for each seating. Once seated, we were brought stools for our purses and given a tea menu featuring a wide variety of tempting options, some of which were seasonal. The menu also listed the items that would be served on the traditional tea tower. Like most afternoon teas, substitutions weren't allowed, much to my mom's disappointment. The table was beautifully set and the room was well lit and featured large windows overlooking the beautiful grounds. They first brought water, followed by a plate of perfectly sliced lemons, limes, and cucumbers to add to our glasses. We were also served us a refreshing sparkling rosé. As a vegan, I was given my own version of the tower, presented beautifully on plates. Everything, both on my vegan plates and my mom's traditional tower, was delicious. My mom's highlight was the scones, which she declared were the best she's ever had. My favorites were the fruit jellies, dark chocolate bark, broccoli tart, and the toasted rice topped with carrot- honestly, everything I ate was a standout. The service was excellent and attentive, and the tea was delicious. I started with the Pear Tree blend and finished with the Chai. Both were wonderful and, I believe, part of the seasonal offerings. The pear tea was light yet flavorful, while the chai was rich and perfectly spiced. My favorite high tea experience is still The Peninsula in Chicago, but Harriman's is a very close second.

I enjoyed my biscuit and gravy - pretty solid. Child #1 devoured his parfait (I tried it and I think it may have been my favorite item - they also have a vegan chia seed option - a woman was enjoying hers next to us when we waited in line), and my wife loved the bread pudding, which has a nice maple glaze to it. We also grabbed several of their pastries, including some scones, a muffin, and a buckwheat cake slice. All were great, though the buckwheat pastry was a tad dry. They have a lot of standard offerings of a coffee shop - teas, coffees, lattes, etc. I got a matcha latte and found it to be earthy and not too sweet. The inside is a bit narrow, especially when you consider a long line. The staff are efficient but don't lose their warm hospitality. Broad Porch has an Air BNB "Loft in Luray" located upstairs. I imagine it would be wonderful waking up to the smell of coffee and pastries. I would say if you're visiting Luray, Broad Porch is a MUST VISIT. There's something for everyone. Highly recommended.
