But, it's a very cool pop chic design so it works well. Food was ok. The pizza was good, but it was saggy. Could have been more crispy. Next time I would ask for it to be more done. But, it had a good flavors. The pesto was nut free which works well. Lobster roll I want a fan. They used langostino lobster which is not even really lobster, more like a cousin. It said Connecticut style so I was hoping claw meat. The bread was very good. I barely tasted the aioli on it which sucked. My fries were suppose to have old bay seasoning but they didn't. I really went here for the chocolate lava cake, cause I could've sworn that when I had went the first time to Goomah it was a real lava cake. This time it was more like the lava cakes they serve at Chili's, which is kind of like a chocolate cake with fake chocolate in the middle, not an authentic lava cake. It was a major disappointment! Me and my girlfriend stumbled upon Goomah pizzeria in Sylvan Lake/ keego Harbor Michigan a very small and homie location so we always love to get new restaurants around town. Decided to check this place out finally today and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly. We sat at the bar so we could see the football game that was on TV The scenery was very unique the decor and the design made you feel very relaxed. We ordered calamari and some drinks to start. The calamari frying batter was on point the calamari was excellent all around the price was 15$ I do believe the portion should be bigger that's really about the only negative thing I can say about what I experienced at this location. We also ordered the pesto pizza (18$) the pesto sauce, the pepperonis the crust !!! everything was very tasty and we will fursure be coming back to check out this location again. Also next-door is there other restaurant live bait that has fresh seafood, and lots of very cool unique dinner dishes as well... thank you goomahs for having us, up the portion of that calamari for us next time we loved talking and hanging out with the staff great all around people. I wanted pizza, so we started out at Crispelli's, but then, my sister remembered that we'd seen Goomah a few weeks ago. The restaurant is where the Pepino's used to be. It's one space divided into 2 restaurants, Goomah, the Italian restaurant, and Live Bait, a seafood restaurant. We were given menus for both, though. We ordered a margherita pizza and added mushrooms to it and an antipasto salad. Both were delicious! The salami on the salad was shredded and fried, almost like meat croutons. They used thin slices of Parmesan cheese, and there were red peppers and possibly pimentos, as well as green olives. I hate olives, but my sister ate them. She said there were more olives than she usually sees in salad. The pizza had a thin but nicely crispy crust. All of the toppings were evenly placed on the pizza. Our server, Emily, was very friendly and efficient. There were only a few filled tables, so she took a little time to chat with us, which was nice. Our only real criticism was that, judging by the decor, they don't know what they want to be. There's a collection of rolling pins on one wall, a bank of t.v. sets on another wall as well as at the bar, what looks like a climbing wall (but I'm sure it's not) on another wall, the half walls have designs that look like graffiti, and the restaurant's name is in lights on the ceiling. All of this while Frank Sinatra and other Italian music plays in the background. But, restaurants are mainly about food, and theirs is very good. I am sure that we will be back! read more

First time at this restaurant where we ended up getting a pepperoni wood fired pizza along with their Chicken Marsala entree. Food was good where the pizza in particular was well made, not burnt as can too often happen with a wood fired operation, was quite tasty with an excellent texture and a gorgeous crust and lots of pepperoni (no skimping here). Chicken Marsala was well made as well and very juicy/tender but a notch down from the pizza on the tasty scale. Relative to the ambiance and service, Goomah has a casual and inviting vibe to it where the service was friendly but as the meal went along and the restaurant filled up they were a bit too slow on the follow ups which was the only negative aspect of this dining experience. Slow service aside, this is definately a restaurant worth checking out and you definitely should try their Happy Hour liquor and food discounts from 4 - 6 pm if you are going here (which we took full advantage of) as every little bit helps in these inflationary times that we live in these days! read more

Great food, great space and a welcome addition to Keego. This is a new Italian restaurant in the old Pepinos space. Live Bait is a new oyster bar next door and both are owned by the same people that own El Camino. They have only been open for three months so still working out some of the service kinks. The pizzas were delicious with good sauce and tasty crust. We tried the margarita and the mushroom. The leeks decorating the mushroom pizza were out of place but once we scraped that off the pizza was great. We tried the antipasto, Caesar and Caprese salads and all were fresh and well prepared. The only thing I regretted ordering were the glazed carrots, because they were flavorless. The pasta dishes that the table next to us ordered looked amazing and I will be back to try them. We had some issues with the bar and the mixed drinks coming out were both too weak and too strong. Those of us that ordered beer and wine were the happiest. Overall the food is great. Service is very slow but they are still getting the hang of it and I don't mind overlooking that for now. read more

We came here for dinner on 9/9/24 around 5pm. We sat outside and the service was really quick and friendly. The other half of the establishment is Goomah a pizza joint so my review is only for Live Bait. The staff were all friendly and happy to see us, the place was really clean and inviting with plenty of seating both inside and outside. In about 15 minutes we noticed it started filling up with customers so I figured it must mean great food. We were not disappointed! My lobster roll and fries were absolutely delicious and my husband's fish and fries were too. The prices seemed reasonable and the portions were generous. The pizza options near us are mostly chains that we've exhausted over the summer, so we had our fingers crossed that Goomah could become a new pizza staple. And "woohoo!"-- we were extremely impressed! The employee on the phone was very pleasant! I ordered the Margherita pizza, which is one of the best I've ever had (if not THE best). I'm not a raw tomato person, so the fact that they just use tomato sauce instead of tomato slices won me over right away. My boyfriend ordered the Spicy Sausage and Onion pizza and there was no shortage of delicious sausage slices on top! We devoured both pizzas from dinner to lunch the next day. We both agreed that the crust is crispy and light, and we didn't feel overly full or yucky (even though we totally binged!) This place has a potential. Curious decor with rolling pins on the walls and large illuminated Goomah sign on the ceiling. A series of booth along the wall and a tiny "stage" space against the back wall. What hinders them is a slow service. Not sure if they are understaffed but both of the pizzas we ordered came out cold. And by cold I mean the cheese wasn't bubbling hot but cold and hard on top - like pizza set for a while before being delivered. Likewise, we ordered drinks and we seen our order made on the bar stand but nobody was bringing it over. We had to catch attention of one of the waitresses and point to our drinks. As far as food goes - salads were good. From Caprese to Caesar, pizzas would have been good if they were fresh out of the oven. Carrot appetizer is not good. Tasted like plain boiled carrots with sauce poured over it. Tiramisu might have been good if it wasn't served frozen. read more

The inside is very nice, nice decor and a little more upscale than other restaurants nearby. Went during happy hour. The caprese focaccia was excellent. Very nice sea food here. Large portions. The (3) fish dinner looked gigantic. This was a party of twelve. Four peeps ordered raw oysters & enjoyed them. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The decor is bright, minimal & not over powering. Only one server & she was able to handle us from drinks to apps to soup, salad and main meal. This was an early meal on a Thursday and we were placed on the bar side room so as to enjoying ourselves without bothering others. The place is roomy & clean. Stellar Service, outstanding food! We had several different menu items and none of them, disappointed any of us in a party of five. From the pizza to the Oysters Rockefeller, that we forgot to take a photo of to the carbonara, the chicken marsala, the chicken Parmesan, the pizza. I ordered a pepperoni pizza for take-out. It was ready before I got there. The pizza was WAY TOO SALTY!!!! I think it was the pepperoni but maybe the cheese contributed to it. We ate there when it first opened up and it was good then. Maybe a different source for the toppings would help? read more

Just stopped in to try the fairly new place that took over the former Pepino's. They divided it into two restaurants. One is Italian called Goomah and the other is an oyster/fish place called Live Bait. We both enjoyed our first experience and will definitely be back. We started with the bread service (bread from Ellen's across the street) which comes with a very nicely seasoned olive oil for dipping. Delish. It's $8 but you can request as much as you want. Could have made a meal on the bread. But, the show must go on. We split a roasted vegetable pizza and chicken Parmesan. Both were very good. Minor quibble with the chicken as we like our chicken more medallion cut but it was still tender. Foe our two sides we chose the house salad which was fabulous and the grilled garlic broccolini which was excellent. Be advised it's REALLY heavy on garlic so for garlic fans only. Our waiter Niko was awesome. Went out of his way and then some to make sure we enjoyed our meal and will always ask for him. That's Niko in the picture below! Interesting place... two restaurants in one. We opted for the Goomah side because the Live Bait side felt much cooler and we wanted to sit for a while. A mixup occurred between one server and another, and our's (Emily?) didn't greet us until we had been there nearly 15 minutes -- with a nearly inaudible apology, our orders were taken and drinks came out speedily. While waiting, we enjoyed the nice, quiet dining room... although the lighting was incredibly dim. We noticed two other tables pulling out their cell phones to look over the two menus (both restaurant menus are served in either restaurant). We chose to get the snapper and the grouper piccata -- both fish were overcooked, the snapper very much so. The fish tasted fresh -- and delicious, although overcooked -- yet they were not overcooked so much that we sent it back as we were hungry and didn't want to wait longer. The broccoli with the grouper was also overcooked, and the carrots we both had tasted and had the texture of having been -- again, *over*cooked hours ago, put into a fridge and nuked prior to serving. Disappointing! The seasonal vegetables were brussel sprouts and summer squash, and that was good. Our server seemed quite inexperienced, and that's OK, everyone needs to start out somewhere, yet our water glasses and drinks remained empty quite a long time before we brought it to their attention asking for refills. Overall a decent experience, although for the price, given our experience, we likely won't go back. read more

I really wanted to like this new place, but they clearly have some food and service issues that affecting them greatly. Was here for Friday night dinner with girls. We have ordered two pizzas and 4 different salads. Margarita pizza arrived bottom is cold and top is somewhat warm if they put the frozen one in the oven and didn't cook it through. Ok nobody complained. Mushroom pizza was good except overwhelming amount of shredded green onion on top. Ok on to the next salads looked good and was tasting fine. On to the drinks their bartender needs a 101 on how to make a simple Old Fashioned and properly poor whiskey on the rocks. Opted for beers after two failures, and the manager proceeding to give a crash course on the drink preparation instead of trying to defuse the situation and offering a solution. On to the dessert we go, tiramisu came out frozen on the bottom and out of the box tasting big disappointment. The only positive was the cute decor and thats about it. Service was none existent and needs some major improvement. Will not be back. read more

This place is AMAZING. I had Yelped a couple places in the area, and we choose Goomah's because of the stellar reviews. From the moment we walked in, I knew we had picked the right spot. The hostess was so kind and warm, and greeted us with a huge smile. She thanked us for coming in and her energy was so infectious! Coincidentally, we made it in time for happy hour (4-6pm) and were able to sample a ton of food. We ordered the calamari, caprese foccacia, pepperoni pizza, spaghetti marinara, and antipasto salad. When I tell you everything was DELICIOUS. We dug in so quickly that I didn't have time to take pictures! Order it all - you can't go wrong and everything is superb. A friend say to get the shrimp scampi but we weren't that hungry to order as an appetiser. We split two pizzas. A margarita and a red sauce with some prosciutto. The crust was crisp but flaky and chewy. The sauce was heavy on tomato taste but not a lot of other flavors. Service was on and off. Was there during happy hour so a nice discount on some drinks, wine and pizza. Our waitress took our drink/wine order and it took a long time to get our drinks. Actually we were not in a hurry and we were happy service was slow. Told our waitress we wanted to order pizza before happy hour was over but she disappeared for a long time, but did take our order just before happy hour was over. I really really wanted to like this restaurant and am always excited to try out and support new restaurants in the area. My husband and I came on a Friday night around 7 pm, expecting a wait. They let us know it would be a short wait due to the kitchen being backed up. We were seated around 20 minutes later and ordered drinks and bread service. The drinks came decent timing and the bread shortly after. All were great. The server apologized and let us know the kitchen was backed up again and that any food would take some time, but we ordered a mussel appetizer, grouper picatta, and seafood pasta. I kid you not we didn't receive our food until 9pm, with the appetizer coming out 10 minutes before. We are not complainers, so we patiently waited and accepted the waitresses' many apologies, but by the time our food arrived, we were tired and just wanted to go home. It took 1.5 hours to receive our food. It was also confusing because by this time, the restaurant had cleared out with only a few tables remaining. All other tables around us were confused and complaining as well about the delay on food. The grouper and sides of potatoes and carrots were overcooked but edible. We also noticed the appetizer, and both seafood entrees used the same white garlic sauce, which was fine but again confusing on how everything took so long to prepare. I'm not a picky person and again hate complaining, but for the price we paid, we have definitely had better quality/service at other local restaurants. I was so excited to go check out this place since it's not too far from my house. I'm being very generous giving it a 4 star review, in all honesty it's more like 3 stars due to service. I hope they'll improve, so I'm not ready to give up on the place yet. So, here it is. We've made reservations weeks in advance. However, upon arrival, we were told that the table that was reserved for us has people who have been sitting there for hrs, paid their bill but are just sitting there. That's great but not my problem. The manager/hostess came up to us few times with the same story and apologies, yes, we were standing there patiently. Then we were told that we will be sat at a different spot, which was totally fine by us and should of been done so on the first place. It so happens that one person in our group knew the people at the table that were sitting in our spot for hrs, so she came up to say hello and found out that people were just served appetizers and didn't even get their meal yet. Anyhow, we ordered drinks and food. My drink was excellent but my friend's drink wasn't good so she asked if they can remake it and again the manager appears and instead of remaking the drink, starts telling my friend how old fashion should be made. My friend said she's been having old fashion for way too many years and knows exactly how the drink should be made and if they can't do it right, she'll just have a beer. Our Margherita pizza came cold and the cheese was hardened. We didn't say a word. We ordered 2nd set of drinks, which were made and placed on a bar but were never delivered to our table. They were just sitting there. Mushroom pizza was great and warm. Wait stuff was really lacking serving skills. Finally, it was tiramisu time. It was a decent size but it was totally FROZEN! My husband and I stopped at Goomah for dinner Saturday evening. I heard about it and loving Italian food thought we would try it out. I came right from work. We were told there was a half hour wait, which ended being much less. We ordered the meatball appetizer which was bigger then a baseball and delicious, shrimp scampi, bread service and the chicken parm for our entree which came with 2 sides. We picked the house salad and fingerling potatoes. The service was excellent. Food came out hot and our server came by just often enough to be perfectly timed. We will definitely coming back. The only negative would be that it was noisy, but that will not keep us for going again. read more
