I went into Goodyear @ Commack Rd & Jericho Tnpk, for my car's annual safety inspection. They brought the car in after only a few minutes of waiting. From the waiting room, I saw them put my car on a lift and raise it all the way up, when most inspectors just plug in the diagnostic tool to check for emissions issues, and do a quick walkthrough. "Uh-oh," I thought. "They're either doing an overly thorough inspection or they're putting on a big show." I couldn't see everything the mechanic was doing, but, about five minutes later, he called me to show me a few red drops on the floor. "You're leaking steering fluid. Here's a print-out of how much it'll cost," he said. It was for $500. I could not believe what I was seeing or hearing. "Well, that's kind of funny," I replied, "because, I'm a backyard mechanic who checks his cars almost every week, and there hasn't been a single drop of anything, EVER! Now, how do you explain that?" He didn't say a word, and just stared at me. "Call the manager, right now." He froze for a second, then said, "He isn't going to say anything different." Ah. Now, I *knew* I was being scammed. "Get the manager, NOW." He froze again, but managed to say, "Sir, your car still has two weeks on the sticker. You failed, but, I'm not going to give you a rejection sticker. You can go after you pay." "I'm not leaving this bay until my car is down and out, and the keys back in my hand." He did so. I locked the car, walked into the shop, and, with about 6 other customers waiting, said, not overly loud, but, in a commanding voice, "I want to see the manager, right now." The clerk said, "You'll have to wait your turn." "Fine," I said, in the same voice, "I'll just call the police, while I'm waiting." I pulled my cell phone out and started to push the speed dial (I always have the local police numbers in my contact list, wherever I'm travelling, just in case). The clerk immediately got on the intercom. "Manager to the front desk." A few minutes later (I hadn't put the police call through), the manager comes in, and tried to get me into his office. I declined, quickly recapped what had happened in front of everyone, and accused his mechanic (not him, necessarily) of fraud, and said that I wasn't letting my car out of my sight, and he had two choices: Pass the car and I'll pay or let me go without paying. He opted for the latter. While I waited for the manager, the clerk tried to talk a woman with a nail in her tire tread (not the sidewall, which would require a replacement as opposed to a repair), that she needed to replace all four tires. Fortunately, she realized from me that she was being ripped off, so, she said, "I'll have to wait until my husband gets home," and left. I overheard another customer whisper an expletive, and he got up, and said he wanted his keys back. The clerk gave them to him, all the while staring death beams at me, and that customer left. The car passed inspection at another garage. When I got home, later that day, I opened the hood, and found fresh, power steering fluid on top of my car battery, which is well above the power steering pump and hoses! After cleaning the bogus residue from the battery and beneath the car, where the "inspector" had, clearly, squirted drops of power steering fluid, it hasn't "leaked" anything since. That was two years ago. I had contacted the local Better Business Bureau and the Town of Huntington and Smithtown (I'm still not sure who has jurisdiction) about the blatant rip-off. They took my information, but, as far as I know, nothing came of it. I wouldn't go into this place for an oil change, much less a crooked inspection. (I can't wait to see Goodyear's response to this, if they deign to do so: I'm mistaken? The problem fixed itself? The "inspector" and/or manager was fired and that I should come in for a freebie? No way in hell to any of those). P.S. In case you're wondering why it took me so long to write this, it was because I was furious, and couldn't write without seeing anything but red. I had forgotten about it, until I took the same car into the "good" garage, where it, once again, passed with flying colors, though he warned me that both my battery and tires would need to be changed before the next inspection, which I already knew. That's honesty and integrity. Something this Goodyear (and almost all name brand chains; refer to my review of Midas in Commack) severely lack. read more

Stan and the guys used to be so reliable. Not sure what happened but I just can't go here any longer. Not reliable and they don't seem to care. Over the summer they told me I would have to leave my car for service. I got a call 2 days later that my car would be ready in 2 days. 3 days later the car wasn't ready. 2 more days go by and I can come pick it up. When I pick up the car the battery is dead (my car is 2 years old). Apologies from them "someone must have left something on and killed the battery". They jump me and I am gone. I figure ok they are usually good let it go. Today I need a tire patched. Made an appointment for 10:30 am. 3 pm car still not done. A patch of a tire!!! They say it might take a few more hours! Why did I make an appointment?!? I told them if you had told me it would take this long when I dropped the tire off I would never have left it here! Unreliable and not dependable. I had a flat tire emergency, with no cell phone, on the L.I.E., 60 miles from my home, on a very late Sunday afternoon. I was flatbedded here, very near closing time. The Store Manager, the super nice and amazing Khaleem, went above and beyond the call of duty, by squeezing me into their busy schedule. I was able to get a great tire at a great price, with minimal waiting time. Anthony was the guy who changed my tire, and he was fabulous, too. This was my first experience here, and I would certainly return here, as this store is the best. They are very professional, polite, knowledgeable, quick, and helpful. Goodyear does not stand behind their products, and the service people at the Commack store are robots who only speak the party line. Replaced four tires there and when one had a blowout they said that it wasn't their fault and sold a replacement tire at full price ( of course they first tried to sell four replacement tires). Should have known better than to buy anything from them when they charged $25 to correct a misaligned headlight or threatened to fail it for inspection. read more

I never write reviews but feel i needed to. I'm not sure what everyone is clamoring about but these guys do quality work. Took my truck in for an alignment that nobody else could do and they nailed it. Gave me a 6 month warrantee with the alignment too. Not that I needed it because they did a great job. read more

These guys are not very honest. While I waited for my car to be inspected I overheard a customer come in complaining about how he failed his inspection the day before because of his brakes. He had his old brakes in his hand and was showing them how much pad was left and asking why he was failed - calling them scam artists etc. He was quickly moved from the main area. Now I am worried what Ive gotten myself into. My car is 2 years old. When they come out for me 20 minutes later - the manager tells me I need two front tires - aggressively says that even though I passed that Im on the verge of failing and should buy them. Snow coming not safe, etc, etc. The quote I was given (which I never asked for - came with my inspection report) was for $635 for TWO tires which I do not need. So many other more honest shops around. Stay clear. One and done for me. read more

I brought my car in today, there was something hanging from underneath. Stan, at the desk, told me they'd be able to look at it in about half an hour. I had an errand, he booked the appointment, I was back in time. Eric was at the counter, they took my car very quickly. A tech came in, said it was something minor, they'd be able to remove the piece, and do what had to be done. About 10 minutes later, Eric called me to the counter. There was no charge. I didn't expect it to be much, but certainly didn't expect it to be zero. Nice surprise. Overall, we've been very happy taking our cars there for the basics; oil changes, inspections, etc. They're always courteous to my wife and me, reliable in their timing and if they feel they can meet my request (I always try to be reasonable, and if I have to leave the car for the day, so be it), and I feel like they always give me the right information. Please avoid this business for dishonest conduct. And especially don't let them trick you make unnecessary purchase. I brought my 2008 Honda Odyssey with 50234 miles for annual inspection. They asked me to replace all 4 tires for $580 in order to pass. I suspect it's a scare tactic to rip me off and refused the offer. Now I am reading the inspection report. The following is listed in the section "Failed Inspection Items Rejected For:", Wheels removed to inspect brakes: L/F, L/R, R/F, R/R 1. 79.1(c) Tires & Wheel Fasteners. When I asked them to put on more specific reasons of failure, they refused and verbally stated it's because of tire worn out. However on the inspection report the tread depth of all 4 tires are 6/32 and the rule to fail is below 2/32. When I challenge them, I was told it's because of cut in tire. The fact is there is no cut at all, even though the rule to fail in this respect is "cut in excess of one inch". When I challenge them again, their explanation this time is the tires are dry and with cracks, and I was told to compare with new tires to see the difference. I took the pictures of the tires in front of the manager John and stated to them clearly my intention to file a complaint for not providing consistent inspection report and dishonest business conduct. By the way, they took my old inspection sticker and said it's the NY state law to do so for a vechile that failed inpsection. I'll find out if the law is really like that. But clearly I'll have something to worry about if I can even drive to a differnt place for inspection. read more

Horrible service. Decided to try this place because they had a coupon, but somehow my key fob stopped working right after they finished working on my car and it was working perfectly fine before. I called when I realized and they told me to come in the next morning to see if they can take a look at it. I go in the next morning and the manager tells me there is nothing he can do and they don't work on key fobs. Why would you tell me to come in if you aren't going to do anything. Wasted a hour of my time driving and having to wake up early. Will never come back here again. Also, their oil change will take over an hour too. I've never had to wait over a hour for a simple oil change. Even while I was waiting there, I overheard people complaining to the manager and saw them try to rip people off telling them they need additional services done to their car. Stay away! We've been here about half a dozen times. I can't believe how many negative reviews there have been. The team here is great. Everyone is really nice and the hours are really good. This service center is a great service center. Service technicians are well seasoned and not beginners. I trust my vehicle with them for tires, inspections, oil changes, alignments and other smaller service items. Never had any issue with the quality of service and the customer service is one of the best around. I will be honest and say that for major repairs I will always go to a dealership. Very satisfied for at least 15 years! One tip, if you can wait, go there when tires are on sales or a promotion is running. Goodyear tires are awesome but are on the higher end but then again you get what you pay for! read more

Such a scam! They will try and sell bacon to a pig. They tried to convince me my car was almost not able to drive and kept tacking on services. Would give negative stars if I could. Made a 9am appointment, was told the car would be ready by Noon. After calling at 12:15 I was told the car would be ready in 45 minutes. After showing up at 1:30pm they finally put my car on the lift. At 3pm my car was finally ready and picked it up immediately. Once getting into my car, I noticed before leaving that my steering wheel leather was ripped and scuffed. I went right inside where Scott explained to me, that I need to speak to Eric the manager, he also notated this on my paperwork. After coming back the next day to show Eric the damage, he stated that the employees did not own up to the damage and that is when he asked what he would like done. I explained I just wanted my car back in the condition in which I brought it to goodyear. He then told me that he does not deal with upholstery, at that point I asked if should reach out to corporate, he replied yes and walked away. I do not recommend going to this Goodyear, becuase they do not cover any damage done, i am extremely dissappointed with the customer service of this Goodyear. read more

Greg one of the assistants service managers there immediately worked to get my spare on the car, so that i could get on my way with my errands while they ordered me a new tire. Horrible rip off scam artists! My elderly mother brought her car here for 2 new tires and walked out with a bill for $2600. Mind you she drives an 03 Mitsubishi Galant with 170,000+ miles on it. Any honest person would have advised her to reconsider such expensive maintenance on such an old worn out car. The car itself is probably not worth half what she paid. Do yourself a favor a look elsewhere for a service. I had a oil change and my front day running light bulb needed to be replaced on my 2011 GMC Arcadia. I watched mechanic the whole time from the waiting room window. He never rotated tires or took pressure of tire. When service was complete, my receipt stated tires were rotated. I told manager that rotation was never done and he had stated , it really does not need to be done because tires are level and pressure is good. I chuckled alittle bit and said how did mechanic know the pressure of tire and level of tire if he never touched it .,.....i could of demanded him to do the tire rotation but i opted to go elsewhere with my business. Can I leave zero stars. How can I say it nicely-------rip off. Went in for a nail in the tire and as is par for the course they give you the "free inspection" beware. Of course they said i had all sort of brake issues and it was very dangerous. price started out at 220, then 200, then when i was walking out 175 but only good for today. the tire was patched and off i went. first of all they didnt even balance the tire. after going 40 mph and wobbling i went to my honda dealer who told me all they did is mount it. never bothered to balance it. second honda told me my brakes were fine and just some dirt. one word of caution, stay away from these mega rip off artists. Stay away! This review is long overdue. Had my water pump replaced here a couple of years ago. Got home and my car was overheating and the coolant was filled with metal/rust. I would honestly give this place 0 stars. Once they lost my keys and called asking, "by any chance did you take your keys with you?" Ummm no, I dropped it off for an oil change! Then I called back to check if they found them and they told me, "no, we are about to check outside..." I complained to the district manager and was then told "We lose keys all the time." Where is the professionalism here? On another occasion, I felt forced to get a repair done that wasn't even properly explained. To then be told, "either you do this or you don't have a car...." Needless to say, I reported this issue as well and the district manager told me that maybe the employee was "having a bad day", basically backing up his rudeness toward me. When I see this place, it has scammers written all over it. They tell you they are doing a "free inspection" as a doorway to find something wrong. This review is coming from someone who has been a Goodyear customer for many years... however, that has now changed. If you would like to try Goodyear, that's up to you. STAY AWAY from the place!!!!!!!! Took my car in for the yearly NYS inspection and ask them to look at the tires (that I bought from them 2 years ago) since they were making a strange noise. They called me up to say the wheels bearings were shot and that they could repair for 1800.00. I told them not to touch the car since it was under a warranty with the dealer. I brought it and everything was okay. They told me that it was the tires that were bad and took tires off another car and put them on mine to show me it was the tires. Goodyear was reluctant to do anything but since I had all my paperwork for my tire purchase including receipts and reports from my dealer they decide to replace my tires. In the past I brought my cars in there for repair jobs and now I'm wondering if any of them were really needed. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! read more

I would never go back to this place. I had a screw in my tire and went there one night after work around 6:45 pm. There website says they are open until 8:00. As soon as I walked in, before I could even get a word out the guy says to me "cant help you, closing up shop we close at 7". When I said to him, oh your website says 8:00, he replies "well its wrong, close at 7, see the door", and he points to the sign on the door with the hours. I said ok well I have a screw in my tire and he says we open at 7:00 am. Meanwhile he is saying all this to me with his head down and without even looking up at me. Listen, I understand you want to go home and may be closing but that is no excuse to be rude and dismissive to a potential customer. His attitude was poor and unaccomodating. If he had just been nice and said, sorry the website needs to be changed and I can take your info and we can help you first thing in the morning I probably would have come back. There job is to sell. I have no problem with someone earning a living, as I am in retail. They took too long to replace a tire, I asked them to put my truck i order ( tools and spare )they did not, I bought 4 tires a bout 12-14 months ago, Changed 2 and need two more. I had purchased there premium tire, they should hold up better. I was told I need 2 more as the side is bubbled. The kicker was adding the road hazard warranty to my replacement without asking. The service was not a pleasant experience. While speaking to the salesman I had mentioned some unpleasant experiences with other vendors, I was making an indirect point, that I was not happy. After paying the CHARGES, I was handed the bill. I looked it over, thats when I canceled the road hazard warranty. I am buying 4 new tires, original equipment from someone else. I never liked my tires, even though they are premium eagle 2 tires, the service the product, not worth it. read more
