I actually do not want to leave any stars but need to check one to post this review! Do not bring your car here for any repairs. They have a "policy" not to admit if anything wrong is done to your car! I had a simple tire plug repair and the mechanic took it upon himself to open the sunroof which will now not close. They tried to say we brought the car in like that! Haven't opened that roof in 2 years!! Additionally, they left their greasy finger marks all over the inside of the car trying to close the sunroof. Now I have to take my car to a mechanic who knows what he is doing Do not take your car here!! read more

They are a scam. I went there Saturday for an inspection Saturday. They didn't run it through. They said it would cost $1800 to fix different things before they could inspect it. They then offered to buy it for $1000. I took it to another mechanic and there was nothing wrong with my car and it passed easily. read more

I recently brought my car 3 year old, 36,000 mile car to Mavis Discount Tire in Commack for a routine inspection, and the experience left me frustrated and suspicious. The inspector , 51CH,failed my vehicle, claiming that my tires were "rotted" and that my license plate didn't meet inspection standards. I was surprised, as my tires had been performing well and showed no visible signs of damage. Feeling uneasy, I took my car to a different certified inspector. Not only did they pass my vehicle without issue, but they confirmed that my tires were in perfectly acceptable condition and that my license plate was compliant. It became clear that the original inspector was likely trying to upsell me on new tires I didn't need. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. Vehicle inspections should be based on safety and state regulations--not on sales tactics. I won't be returning to this shop, and I'd caution others to get a second opinion if something doesn't feel right. --- read more

Called Mavis after having a blowout. Lady who answered said they coulid fit me in an hour before for close to replace tire and provided me a reservation. When I arrived, unfriendly guy said to comeback tomorrow. I explained that I live 150 miles away and trying to get back home. I could not safely drive on a donut that distance through storms. I even offered to play extra. Still would not fix my tire and displayed zero sympathy. Anyway, took my car a block away to Goodyear and the friendly guy there had me back on the road in 45min. read more

Truly awful experience watching the F Troop put three tires on my car. Most of the time the car was on the lift awaiting the tires. The manager was next to useless telling me every time I asked "They're working on it." It doesn't take 1 1/2 hours to mount three tires. Not an apology or reason offered. You can see by my past two reviews that I don't have an axe to grind, but this took the cake. Can't help noticing that every time I come here there are different people working. I always have a great experience at this location. They explain the problem about your car. They show you the cost and work with you about the cost of the repair. The wait time is fast in the mornings. Mavis just needs a new TV , the current one is broken. read more

I wish I didn't come here . I had a leak in my tire, they told me it couldn't be a patch job because of where the leak was on the tire . My back right tire had the same leak, I just went to a different place and they patched it up and said it was good to go . There slow, unprofessional , it has taken almost 2 hours to take a look at the car . To change the tire out it has been on the lift for 40 mins . The other place for my other tire 15 mins .. thehigh price charges for the tire replacement . I will never go to this location again . Probably won't go to a Mavis again . Made a 9am appt. Got there said 6-7 cars ahead of me. Had to leave because I had a 10:30 appt in Melville. Came back at 11:45 said still tons of cars ahead pry take two hours. So I left- made a service appt with Ford and they were quick and prompt. I wouldn't bother making an appointment here as they don't go by appointments at all. Wasted a 1/4 of gas going back and forth to this place for no service. Would not recommend. Go to your local dealer for service. read more

After completing my VTS Virtual Training Sessions w/my Personal Training clients...& then rushing out to celebrate my 50th Birthday on 10/16/2021...I noticed my wife's front tire had a nail in it! The next day we called Mavis to ask if they could patch-up/Plug the tire. I called Mavis, once I gave them the lowdown on what was going on...they suggested I call back a in few hours to see if they could in-fact take the car in. We called...brought down the car...& within 15 minutes the tire was patched-up! Piece of mind & safety achieved! This hidden gem is a full service automotive tire company. Their manager Rich is very knowledgeable and kind to all his customers. I had a very short wait time but I enjoyed how they interact with the customers. The final bill was much less than I thought it would be. This place is amazing!! Thank you to Rich and his crew. I needed an inspection. Waited there for over an hour for my appointment just to have the man at the front desk come and tell me I needed 2 brand new tires or they wouldn't do the inspection. Tried to basically threaten me into buying tires when I said they were changed pretty recently. When I didn't go for it he just had another guy come give me my keys without saying anything. So I said "so that's it?" And he said he was only told to bring me my keys. I went home and checked my receipts from Mavis 4 months ago where they did an oil change with a tire check so obviously the tires were fine then. Have only done very local driving so obviously they were fine. Went and got an oil change from a nice place closer to my house where everyone was so sweet. The tires were completely fine. Will never go back to Mavis. Have only had issues and attitudes no matter which one I have been to. read more

Made appointment over phone told them I wanted a patch to be put on a tire I'll bring to them off the vehicle brought the tire in next day told him I wanted a patch not a plugged and re ballance it after the tire put back on told me it was about 20 bucks. Come back to get tire charged me 54 dollars I paid still thinking that was a lot but ok then he gives me tire and it's plugged when I specifically asked for a patch he now tells me the don't do patches only plugs and tries to tell me they charged me 25 for the plug and 25 for checking for leaks on the bead and cleaning the rim and re balancing it and said they changed the valve stem some line of up selling garbage. They never even took the tire off they might have changed the valve core but they didn't change the valve stem. They just plugged it and double charged me some flat rate BS. I'm an equipment mechanic by trade and am glad I had the Sense to question those guys and get my money back. Someone who wouldn't know better would have gotten screwed out of 54 bucks for something that I didn't even want specifically said plug not patch and should only cost at most 15-20 dollars if that Sad to see people scamming people in this world we all need to help each other out. Anthony refused to look at the tire, spray with water. Anything. Just mumbles off prices of tires. Goodyear checked the tire and fixed it for free. Anthony needs further training. read more

My Honda CRV need an oil change and air filter replaced. I was tired of getting upsold and overcharged at Honda, and so tried Mavis. The manager was very professional and honest, told me what were necessary versus what could wait-type repairs and when to get my tires changed. My car was taken in on time and waited about 50 minutes. Will return! read more

I have always had great service and prices at the Mavis in Commack, and this time was no exception! I had made an appointment to bring my car in the following morning to replace my car battery, as I had some trouble on a recent trip and my battery was approaching 5 years old. I had gotten that "5-Year" battery from this Mavis in 2019, and it had always worked great! Well, my car had other ideas, and I wound up needing a boost to start the car, which I used to bring the car right to Mavis a day earlier than expected, in already the later afternoon, so I didn't expect them to be able to get it in. They not only took me in right away, I was out of there in about 20 minutes total. And the price they quoted me originally was a lot better than others I had shopped around. They gave me the same battery I had (although now batteries are not warrantied for 5 years anymore, so it's a 3-year) for a great price. read more

Odd waiting room. It's set up like cubicles in an office. Staff was pleasant. Went to plug a tire that had a nail in it from a recent trip to the Hampton inn in Middletown. Took no more than eating two slices of pizza and a brisk walk around the dollar store. Tire seems to be holding up will keep you updated if any mishaps with the plug. As every other bad review begins with the weirdo at the desk "Rich" he calls me (as I'm waiting in the waiting room) asking for my wheel lock key. I proceed to tell him I haven't seen it since they replaced my tires a month ago. He asks me to come to the back, I walk in catch him talking shit saying "all customers say we lost them blah blah, using derogatory names for his customers" I wait right behind him without him knowing as his poor employee tries to warn him I'm standing directly behind him. His face immediately turns red and his demeanor changes to timid and scared as he chokes up trying to tell me "oh we have some keys we accumulated over the years let me try them" he walks back with 2 buckets filled practically over flowing. I asked him how did he accumulate them maybe from the people claiming they took them. He says "no no no I make sure every customer walks out with a key in hand" which makes no sense if he has 2 buckets of wheel lock keys "he's accumulated" Please don't ever take your business here if you value yourself or your vehicle. read more

Had a great experience today! Had to drop my car off to have a tire checked as the low tire pressure warning light starting coming on during a long road trip. They fully checked the tires and found no issue. They had more than 1 tech check for problems to confirm. All was fine in the end and they didn't charge me a dime! How nice is that! I feel safe knowing they thoroughly checked the tires and will follow up with the dealer as the sensor may be bad causing a false alert warning light. This was the worst experience I've ever had while trying to get an inspection. They tried to con me for $1,800 claiming my rear brakes and suspension needed to be completely redone. Keep in mind I had been there just a month earlier for my front brakes and they never mentioned anything about the rear brakes. I said I was getting a second opinion and they told me "oh you'll be back." I literally went down the street and got my inspection done with the only thing needing to be done was replacing my windshield wipers. If you are a female, they will try and take you as stupid. Not to mention the place was disgusting and the employees wont even acknowledge you. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I will never return. read more

These guys are the best! I thought I needed new brakes because of a grinding noise. When my husband and I bought my car there today to have it checked out thinking I needed new breaks they called me with great news! Turns out there were just pebbles stuck somewhere in the breaks and between something else creating that noise. They removed the pebbles and my car is back to normal. These guys are so honest!! They didn't even charge me. It's nice to see an honest business person. read more

I had service at Mavis in Commack today . The job was completed in a timely manner . I am a senior and told the manager I was uncomfortable being in their sitting area too long . He assured me that he would get my job completed quickly which he did . The manager was understanding and the mechanic did a great job . So disappointed.... Ten months ago, they replaced my brake pads and rotors. After a squealing noise I brought it to another service center and I come to find out that my rotors were completely rusted (interesting - because I thought they were changed) and my pads needed to be replaced. Mind you, I had only put 10,000 miles on the car. So after spending a small fortune ten months ago- I spent another fortune today. Definitely not happy and I won't be returning. read more

I went there & had an oil change & asked them to check a tire I thought might be leaking because I was making a trip to Florida & back in the next few days. I said I dont want a problem on the highway like a blow out & getting into an accident or maybe dyeing on the road.They told me they checked & all was good. On the way out I spoke to mechanic there & said you know what let me take another look. He does & finds a big screw in tire. He never looked the first time or he would have saw it. Had i not brought it up again I would have driven 1300 miles with a screw in the shoulder of the tire & who knows what would be the result. Turns out I need a new tire & went elsewhere. I would never recommend this place I made a reservation July 2 for July 11 online for a set of 4 tires. When I arrived on July 11 the manager tells me "I can't do your tires today". I told him I had a reservation and an email reminder 2 days ago. He said there is nothing he can do. I told him why didnt you email or call me to say you can't do it. You make me drive all the way over here . He looked at me like. Too bad. It is what it is . IT GETS WORSE I make another reservation to give it another shot for July 17. When I arrived there were 2 managers. They say that my tires were sent back because I never came on the 11 th. I said wtf are you talking about. You remember me from last week don't you. He said yes. Terrible customer service. They got tires for my sons car. I told them HE had school and had to be done by 10:00am. They said no problem if I bring it in by 8:00. I dropped the car at 8:00am and my son came back around 9:15 and they didn't even start. They said they TRY to have it by 11:00'which doesn't help my son. I asked if they could do it right away and they said they'd try but no guarantee. Not sure why they told me I had to bring it by 8:00. We left and called another place which was much more accommodating. DONT GO HERE. TEACH THEM TO BE HONEST AND TO PUT THE CUSTOMER FIRST. And they had a bad attitude as well. read more
