We brought our 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe to this shop to have three tires installed and the vehicle inspected. After the work was completed, my boyfriend immediately noticed a loud noise coming from the wheel area and told the mechanic he was worried the wheel might fall off. The mechanic assured him twice that the car was completely safe to drive and that we had nothing to worry about. Shortly after leaving the shop, the driver-side wheel actually detached while the vehicle was in motion, creating an extremely dangerous situation and causing an accident. We then had the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic, who confirmed that the issue was caused by improperly installed lug nuts (either over-tightened or loose). When we returned to the shop after the accident, an employee admitted that under normal safety procedures they would never allow a customer to leave without signing a document stating the vehicle was unsafe to drive. This directly contradicted what we were told when the car was released to us. Because of this negligence we incurred significant expenses including: * repair costs * towing three times * rental car costs * increased insurance premiums * and nine months without reliable use of our vehicle, forcing us to rely on rideshare transportation. We attempted to resolve this matter directly with the company and sent a formal demand letter, but have received no response. This situation was extremely stressful and dangerous, and it could have been much worse if the wheel had detached on a highway or caused a more serious accident. I hope the company takes safety procedures more seriously in the future so no one else experiences something like this.

Superior customer service from Paul Gauspohl, the service manager at the East Bay Drive Goodyear service center on a complicated trailer tire warranty issue. Paul went above and beyond to help me - even though I bought the Goodyear tires from a competitor. The background: 4 years ago, I bought Goodyear trailer tires from a competitor in Georgia that begins with "M" and rhymes with the name of a big car rental company. Trailer tires are prone to UV degradation or cracking, particularly here in Florida. Goodyear warranty covers cracking for five years on trailer tires, pro-rated on the treadwear. I went to the Clearwater "M" store and in spite of having a receipt and them agreeing that they honored the Goodyear's warranty, they said they couldn't look up my trailer in their system and said there was nothing they could do! After arguing with the manager, who finally walked away from me (I was MAD but not disrespectful) , a "M" employee suggested I go direct to Goodyear. When I went into the East Bay Goodyear location, I fully expected to be told to go back to the "M" store. Instead, Paul said he would take pics and contact Goodyear warranty. I will be going here for my future oil changes. When I walked in no one was at the counter but someone came in seconds later to greet me. Customer service was great. Once everything was finished I was told what was in good condition and what could use improvements. I was not pushed to buy anything or have any extra things done to my car. It came out to about $25! Update: Went back in for another oil change because I kept getting emails saying my car may need an oil change. Man at the register took a look at the mileage and told me I don't need an oil change for another thousand miles or so.(The emails are automatically sent out to everyone) Didn't take advantage of me or let me waste my money. As a 50-year fan of Goodyear tires, for the first time ever, I experienced an issue requiring a warranty adjustment. Upon explaining the issue with store manager Mike Dolan, and, after taking a ride with me to experience the problem firsthand, he immediately understood my concerns. Based upon my experience with Goodyear, I believe Mike was as shocked as I was there could ever be an issue with one of their tires. While in the store, Mike involved corporate management in resolving my issue and I could not be more pleased. Went in, met Mike at the counter. Told him I needed an oil change, he wrote down my information and before I knew it they took my car in waited maybe 35 mins. Car was done and Mike came to me and told me with the miles you have do you drive a lot? I said told him I did and he said you might want to consider getting this done for your car but it's up to you. Mike takes care of you and he knows his cars and how to make them last for a long time.
