This is a nice, large Goodwill. I don't know about quality of items, but I've found a couple of mugs I love from there and they have the largest DVD collection I've seen from a Goodwill, and someone is trying harder because they have separated the videos into five genres, which is a lot more useful than the hodepodge of DVDs thrown on a shelf that you usually get at thrift stores, and someone once in awhile tries to put thngs in alphabetical order and they try to keep dupes together. I've been going to this Goodwill location since they opened. I've never had any trouble, have had very good interactions with most all employees there, until today. Since Covid, it's been encouraged to bring your own bags. So I've been doing that. In addition to the fact, they don't offer any bags, nor handheld baskets, and all of the carts are either broken or disgusting. I am certain they never clean these. so I was obviously surprised when approached by manager Sherman and told to prompt leave the store. I had no idea why, he refused to tell me other than they chose not to do business with me anymore. I had been shopping for 45 minutes and had a bag full of goods. Upon going to the register, I was followed by him and another manager, as I checked out, paid for my items and left the store and embarrassed and shocked, the manager Lila, followed me out and told me that she was so sorry I was offended. She continued to follow me to my car yelling at me the entire time as I requested, she leave me alone. Finally, I turned around and told her not to harass me. And that's when she gave me the MIDDLE FINGER. Unreal. No conversation or request about me using my own bag. Just rude, completely unprofessional & should be fired. read more

Goodwill , has been good to me . Yelm Goodwill, must have brought people in from the layed back southern states , because when i found something i wanted, ... stood in checkout for 10 mins. this item did not have a tag. for starters... thats an issue that ive dealt with more than once at the yelm location. stood inline while getting checked out .... got to the counter ... the new checker , searched for the tag that wasnt on it , and the other young lady, casuallt sitting on the end of the counter .. who was nonstop just chit chatting with the new employee , .. gave an answer on the "price check" no tag issue . i was waiting for an educated guess or a managorial request , but in 2025 , on presidents day, it was .. we cant sell it . i asked ,"can i talk to youre manager?" she , in a southern.. north carolinian charming voice said bobwe gave to retag it and put it back on the shelves.. all i could think was ... get off youre ace and walk it back there , retag it while i patiently wait . i imagine that southern charm aint gonna last in a hustle and bustle city like ... The employees give no instructions when u donate and then when u dump ur items in the bin apparently "the damage is already done " is word for word what the employee said to me after not saying a single thing about how they would like the items to stay in the box they were brought in. On our first ever trip to this Goodwill we were so surprised by the store itself. There were lots of brand new items and several of the same items like a store would have. They had inviting displays and a great store layout. We easily found the sections we were looking for which saved us time in finding all our needed items. The baby section, where we spent most of our time, was well stocked with a large variety of brand new and gently used items. We were pleasantly surprised to get so many items that were brand new still had original tags on them. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The store itself was very clean and organized for a thrift store. We will definitely keep in mind for our next Goodwill shopping adventures. read more

This Goodwill is small, but it's Yelm so what are you gonna do? Even though it is small there is a decent amount of items especially in the furniture section. There aren't a lot of men's clothes and shoes but the housewares and books sections are pretty well stocked. It appears they've reduced their movie section and the towels, blankets, and kitchen sections also seem to be reduced. I will say that every time I go though, no matter who is on the register, they are all very very friendly. Since it's kind of out of the way for me, I really only stop here if I'm getting my oil changed at the Wal-Mart or on my way to Mt.Rainier. I do like that there is now a Dollar Tree next door so I can hit two birds with one stone if I need some items for the house or for my trek near and up Mt. Rainier. The prices are reasonable but about the same as all the other GW's in the Thurston/Pierce County area. Also, at least it's clean in here though and it doesn't smell too much like a thrift store. read more

We are new to the area and have a lot of things to donate. I called GoodWill in Yelm, thus morning. Went thru their phone prompts to confirm the hours of donations being accepted. It clearly stated donations are accepted from 9 to 6 on Saturdays. We drove 30 miles, into town, arriving at 5:30 to find tge donation doors closed. I called from the drop off and spoke to an employee in the store. I was told tgat "because we don't have air-conditioning we sometimes close early...and we might be accepting anymore donations. You can come back tomorrow. " Really?!? No thank you. read more

As thrift stores go, this one was better organized than most I've been to in the past. For such a small space they have generous aisles to cruise down. The staff was pleasant and professional too. read more

Yesterday 10/03/2022 I bought a used microwave, which I was assured ,had been tested however when I got it installed it was arcing and blowing smoke. I called the store and was told to bring it back. after I drove backthet to Yelm from Eatonville, approx. 20 miles I was informed that they wouldn't accept it because I had removed the price tag!? Then they wanted to sell me a smaller microwave which was missing the turntable plate for $20 , which was $5 more than the first one. I asked to talk to the manager I was told that she was in the cash room and have 5 min to talk to me. I plan to call back tomorrow and see if she got out. Any body know how to contact the state headquarters ? I wouldn't bother but I have terminal cancer and am living on less than $500 before rent and food. now I get to chose between food, meds or another microwave Thank You Goodwill! read more

Today is the end to my support of donations to this Yelm Goodwill. I was a regular donor of exquisite, clean and a great majority of new items. I sat in a SLOW moving line to donate. Finally get up to the drop off slot and an older woman told me they have to catch up, as at capacity so closing for an hour. I asked her where else around the area is there that I could donate to. She must be a bit dense as she replied, The other Goodwills in Lacey. The only reason she quit taking donations is because as I sat there I watched the employee bring out a separate wheeled cart for each vehicle, no matter how small the donations were. So it shows that as long as they put one item in a wheeled bin, then they can say they are at capacity. I went in the store looking for someone in charge but all I saw were employees walking around, doing nothing. At the checkout area I asked the vested man if he works there and he replied yes. I asked him if they are back to accepting donations yet and he replied in about 10 minutes. The very immature cashiers said to him, " She is pissed, tee-hee." With the high prices on donated good in this store can they not hire some competent help.... Maybe require a high school diploma on the ones capable which they employee. Thank goodness I do have a large dumpster at home as I will throw away all before taking it to the Yelm Goodwill. read more

Burning skin and eyes IMMEDIATELY upon entering this Goodwill location. The WHOLE STORE is contaminated with tobacco...Not smart! If the people who work here are that nose-blind, then they need to QUIT SMOKING. Now I can't go into many stores with people sneaking that poison, vapes OR smoked into stores and restaurants. I love the Yelm Goodwill store!! The managers Kerri and Marcie are amazing and super cool! They always have a new selection daily and it makes shopping there like a fun scavenger hunt! Def the best place in Yelm for Halloween costumes and Christmas gifts. There is always a large selection of used and new goods daily. The cashiers are friendly and excited to hear about the treasures you found in the store. The $.99 tag days are my favorite. The store is clean and organized making shopping easy. I have been shopping here for 10 years. The store is recently under new management so check it out! read more

I've been to hundreds of thrift stores in my life, and this was by far the cleanest and nicest Goodwill I've ever stepped foot in. The clothing was very well organized, as was the book section, which is normally in shambles at stores. What impressed me the most is that this Goodwill wasn't run as if it was a dumping ground for crap no one wanted. There wasn't tons of glass figurines no one would ever buy or broken furniture. The clothing was decent and I found a lot of pieces that still had new tags on them. The shoes weren't gross that I would be afraid to try on, and the majority of them looked modern and up to date. Plus, their purse selection is phenomenal and definitely well thought out inventory. My favorite part is that they took the time to merchandise and organized the shelves. Everything was in order, clean, clearly priced and didn't make me want to run for the hills. This Goodwill should be a model of what thrift stores should strive to be. Even though what they're selling is normally used, they set it up so well. Huge kudos to whomever is in charge of their merchandising. I'm impressed. read more

This store is super cute. Visited here over Christmas vacation. I've been in a lot of Goodwills and this is one of the best organized, cleanest, well put together stores. Staff was awesome and friendly. Some great deals. Goodwill is always hit or miss for me, but I actually found more than a few things I liked here. Wish I lived closer so I could shop here more often. I love their selection and that they receive target items - but their prices are horrific!

Besides the terrible customer service from one of the young girls working there, the aisles are so cramped that it is nearly impossible to navigate the place. The prices are high. I actually seen some Dollar Tree bowls marked for $1.99. You can literally walk next door and save a dollar! read more

We like stopping by this goodwill when we're out and about in town. It's nothing special but you can find some awesome hidden gems if you're up for looking. Are you kidding ! Specially went in to pick up a pair of boots of some kind to have just to walk around my yard that I wouldn't care about messing up or getting dirty. I could not believe that USED shoes and boots were priced so high. One pair of OLD suede type boots, missing a lace mind you, was priced at $9.99???? You must be out of your friggin mind ! The place was busy but I know it was for the tag sales because you would have to be an idiot to buy at the prices they put on items. Greed is not a good look on a thrift store :/. My old Goodwill had a boutique room where all the nice used stuff went at high prices, God knows poorer people don't deserve the nicer stuff, however everything else in the store was reasonable. Is there a guideline to pricing or do the managers for that particular store decide ? Whatever... if you don't have a lot of money and you need clothes look elsewhere! read more

So disappointed in this store. Took my grandson shopping for our fun "adventure" day outing today. He checked out all the toys and found exactly what he wanted. So excited about his find we went to the cash register to pay. Very nice cashier said there was not a price on the model ship he found so she couldn't sell it. New policy starting today...no tag, no sale! Manager came over and yanked it from his arms, said it had to go back thru "processing". We said we would wait for a price. Manager told us "no they could not price it" and to comeback another day. Returned several hours later and they would not do anything to help us with this purchase. So sad to see the heartbreak in an 8 year olds eyes. Shame on you Goodwill for breaking a child's heart. Your "new" policy stinks. read more
