Had an hour to kill so swung through the Goodwill while visiting Boulder to see what they had! The organization of the clothes is very different than any other Goodwill I've been to: everything was on circular hanging racks. The rack shape made it hard to swipe through clothes, or even get a cart around the store. I've never seen a store not have rows of straight racks...! The selection here is VERY Colorado. As someone visiting from out of state, I loved seeing the differences: lots of Colombia, Duluth Trading Co, etc. so some great brand finds can be had here. Lots of college student clothes and CU gear here too. They had just put out Halloween costumes and decor so that took over a good amount of the store, but you could still navigate it decently. I'm SO sad that most Goodwills - including this one - have moved away from dressing rooms. It forces people to try things on out in the open in front of the mirrors. There are no fitting rooms citing the safety of their employees, despite a Marshalls being right next door with no problems having fitting rooms. Then they have the gall to not give refunds for clothing that you cannot physically try on in the store? This is ridiculous. Pick one or the other, these policies conflict horribly. I love supporting thrift stores, but there has to be a policy that makes sense, and this one does not. At the VERY LEAST you need large signs at the registers saying that there are NO REFUNDS and only store credit may be issued. Hiding this on the back of the receipt feels dishonest. read more

Just a note to Boulder. My review was for the Baseline Store which closed recently. All reviews and pictures have been merged to the 28th St location. I recently was near the large older store in Basemar shopping Center at the corner of Baseline and Broadway, and the very large Goodwill facility is simply gone. read more

My first time here and I fell in love! This place is clean and neat. Besides that, I found the best things! I even found Starbucks mugs! I bought a Boyd's bear with its tags! I ended up filling 2 boxes with treasures! This is the best Goodwill! I ran out of money! lol. I am definitely going back. And the workers were very nice! read more

Since moving to the new space next to REI this Goodwill has improved greatly! Very well organized and staffed. Things move fast, so don't think you can come back and get it tomorrow! New items added daily. No dressing rooms, but returns accepted for store credit. Clean restrooms. Prices and sales are very good. I've found good deals in nearly every department. This Goodwill used to be an amazing place to pickup bargains donated by the community. Unfortunately over the past couple of years this particular outlet has changed dramatically. A close friend of mine who was between jobs recently left there after 2+years of having worked there. His complaint was that it seemed to try an operate like a for profit organization. While getting donated items for free and use community service "volunteers" to work there. Also they have been sorting much of the merchandise and shipping it around to other GWs less item populated. Hence, the other day I went into the store which seemed totally trashed and priced a few items. A used leather jacket which once would have sold sir $7 or $8 was priced at $30. Some days I don't find anything, but some days I find tons of cool stuff! Though there are more good then bad days here. I recently found two matching side tables here for just $6 each, that I refinished and sold for a great profit! As well as a another side table I also bought for $6 here and did the same with. And if you look hard enough you can also find some great clothing brands in good condition as well! Overall this isn't the best thrift store I've been to, but it's definitely in my top 5 thrift stores around here! read more

This was one of the first establishments I visited while I was in town interviewing for a job (read: I was supposed to be looking for housing but couldn't resist exploring the local thrift stores). The venue is of a good size and the parking lot is often accommodating though busy (shared with several other businesses including a Whole Foods). The outdoor furniture room has loads to pick through including loads of ski/snowboards and some mid-century tables etc. (on my most recent visit that is). Definitely work taking a quick peek out even if you aren't in the market for furniture, etc. The shoe section for ladies is sizable as is the ladies clothing department (I've even seen some still in package nylons from the 70's - how exciting). My favorite section is the knick-knacks and dish ware - the color coordinated displays draw me in every time. The jewelry/purse counter is also worth checking out - I've seen a few high end bags within its confinements on many a visit. The books as others have mentioned are also numerous. If you are in the neighborhood I definitely recommend checking out this location, you never know what those local college kids are going to be donating. read more

Like all thrift stores this is hit or miss. I really do not like the new set up with the round racks. Nothing was labeled so I had no idea where anything was, the sizes were on some racks but not all. It was confusing. I finally gave up and left. Needs to be organized better. read more

goodwill tries to pretend they're trying to help people but won't let you try anything on or return goods after 14 days. I I didn't wear the clothes and I've been very busy finding work and working two jobs. Bought two pairs of pants to for my new job and they didn't fit. couldn't try them on because the changing rooms were closed and now can't return them and they want me to donate them back. what a scam. don't support this busniness. read more

Domestic violence, customers swearing at the cashiers, blood on the floor, stains on a lot of clothes, and no changing rooms leaves you trying on clothes over your clothes while the checkout line watches. Fun times. May try other goodwills when necessary but won't be back here, that's for sure. read more

Because of staffing shortages, customers cannot try on clothes in the store. They allow returns, but only for store credit. This is not OK, they should have cash or credit card refunds for as long as clothes cannot be tried on. read more

Goodwill Boulder has gone through many changes in the past few years. With each new manager, customers have to grow accustom to different pricing styles. Even when prices jump, I can usually find something worth taking home. This most recent trip was the exception. Yes the store was well stocked, but I soon realized that it was because the prices were jaw-dropping high! Small (4 inch) jars of costume jewelry were $24.99, a box of 6 Christmas ornaments - $7.99, a vase with an original price tag of $30 was marked $39.99, a 2 inch crystal bedside clock holder (without the clock!) was marked $24.99, a pair of zip up fake leather boots - $24.99. Columbia winter jacket was $24.99. Yes, Boulder is expensive, but there are 5 other thrift shops in Boulder and 5 consignment clothing shops that I can choose that are significantly better priced. I will return occasionally to see when they hire a new manager. In the meantime I will be making the trip to the Lafayette Goodwill. Always well-stock, with consistently good prices. read more

This place was super sad to walk into. When I first walked in, I almost wanted to ask if they were closing as there were not many clothes on the racks. Many of the clothes and shoes looked worn and the furniture section was outside, although it was covered. It was a complete disaster. Very sad. I guess they don't care to keep it clean when the students are out of session. read more

This place had some sketchy looking men in it. Many of the clothes smelled. It was a large place with a lot of product but there didn't seem to be any good options especially for the area - meaning winter type clothing. I spoke to 2 employees and both were rude and neither were helpful. There was a lower level with furniture and household items but I did not go downstairs so I cannot comment In error I posted the above comment for the Boulder location which I have not visited. A very disappointing experience at this Goodwill. I had this myth in my head, Oh, it's located in a nicer part of town, must be high standard. Nope. Toys were scattered all over the ground, the clothes were not organized, hardly any furniture in their furniture section. The store looked dull and nothing interesting to find. read more

Over the years I remember venturing with Denver friends to a few Goodwill stores there, and was not impressed. This relatively new Boulder Goodwill store is rather impressive, however. It is big, bright, well-managed, well-stocked, and has decent dressing rooms too. They seem to get quite a bit of new merchandise from places like Target. Their prices in comparison with other thrift stores are either the same or lower. Decent quality clean items are appreciated in a thrift store. I do wish they would boot out the eBay and other resellers with their handheld scanners who go through various merchandise filling their carts only with items their scanners tell them have the most resale value. I realize we're America, where people are free, and I shouldn't want those scanner people kicked out of the Goodwill store--it's just one of my issues. People are going through financially rough times, even here in Prosperityville U.S.A., filled to the gills with trustfunders as it is. I suppose it's possible to make a living by going to garage sales and secondhand stores scanning through the shelves to find the items worth buying and reselling on eBay. I hate thrift stores. There. I said it. They make me feel nervous and dirty. But, I have been on the hunt for wool sweaters to felt and vintage corningware. So I have been to so many many thrift stores in the Denver area in the past few months. This Goodwill is by far the best. I told my sister how it's like an upscale Goodwill, the Nordstrom of Goodwills. It's new, and clean, and it doesn't smell. The other customers are normal and the cashiers are also normal. The merchandise is also pretty nice - better than usual. Also a bit more pricey, so be aware. But, if you also hate thrift stores, then this is your best bet. Maybe not so much in a year or two, when its newness has worn off, but for now, it's great. read more

Great store, they are always willing to work with you if you are down on your luck and in need. They have new inventory almost everyday and I honestly love that - I prob go in and hunt 3-4 times a week. Negative, they let a local bookstore come in and fill up carts (plural) with all of the new books while the employees search the internet for the books value, if the value isn't worth their time they put the books back, otherwise you have to wait while they go through hundreds of books. Personally I hate this, there have been times when a book I wanted was right there but they just sit and try to find all of the best deals by packing their carts and slowly returning the items to the shelves over the course of a few hours. This Goodwill was well organized. The clothing were all tagged with regular store type tags. There was a good assortment of coats, scarves, shirts, leggings, housewares and old electronics. The shoe area was not very well organized. There did not seem to be an order for the sizing. The store was large and well laid-out. There were two registers open, but only one of them takes credit cards. Pricing was odd. Some things were cheap and some were overpriced. read more

Great thrift store. They hold 50% sales every 2 Saturdays. I love this location for wares and furniture and always find a great art piece when I come in. Haven't really shopped here for clothing, as the clothing racks always look a bit sparse and getting a fitting room can be quite a challenge. I have purchased almost half of our furniture here and have been consistently satisfied with the prices I pay. The employees are always friendly and willing to help me out when I try to fit large pieces of furniture into my Toyota Corolla. Tip (and this should be a rule of thumb for any thrifter): ALWAYS have rope/zipties in your car when you are thrifting. You just never know when you are going to come across a killer furniture piece that you may have to lug home on top of your car or in your trunk! read more

This, like all thrift stores, is random. I mean some days you score and some days you find nothing. I have had very good luck here in the past with kitchen, bed and bath, and less so with clothing. This store is a fairly new location, and the gem of the Goodwill industry in Boulder. A fresh new location, this shop is as clean as you would want. And with Halloween quickly closing with us, a store with deals and funky old outfits is more than welcome. I first went into this new location a few days ago. I like to browse the thrift stores for offbeat and unusual items. So I am more than familiar with the, er, less than stellar displays, and the things to look for in buying second hand, such as holes or stains. But this store is well appointed, with a bright and well lit setting. The racks stay organized and are stocked with a large array of items to choose from. The items that I found to be of interest and of the right size were clean, and in one case, appeared new. I wandered around the store, and was impressed with the layout and wide selection of merchandise, the cleanliness, and the general feel of this location. Not only were there items to make a costume hunter's heart beat, but there was a wide selection of usable and modern merchandise.The clerks were helpful and fast, and all in all, this place is a great little treasure to hunt around in. read more

Quite nice. The store is clean and well-maintained, with a decent number of dressing rooms. Its proximity to CU means you get a lot of shopping competition from students, but you also get high quality items and a speedy turnover. The prices are standard for thrifts these days: $6 for women's jeans and $4 - $6 for shirts and sweaters, with the occasional "you've got to be kidding me" price for new items with tags, or for something considered exceptionally desirable. There's typically a great selection of shirts, jeans, and sweaters, though that's offset by the mysterious lack of dresses and a complete absence of athletic wear such as tank tops and sport bras (in Boulder!) A downside (for those of you who are picky about such things) is that the clothes are arranged with a nonchalant attitude towards categories: in any given "M" section, for instance, medium-sized items dominate, but small through extra large ones are sprinkled in there as well. Luckily it's a smaller store, so it's not a huge deal to skim through all the sizes. read more

I'm currently loving this place for maternity pants and cardigans. The dressing rooms can get kind of busy, but the clothes seem to be always in good shape. Plus, who could say no to paying $5 instead of $60 for nice maternity jeans? read more
